Jerzon Senador Finally Serves a Warrant of Arrest for Hanging His Puppy

Jerzon Senador Finally Serves a Warrant of Arrest for Hanging His Puppy

Jerzon Senador, who became famous after getting a lot of tirade online for pinning his puppy to a clothesline and posting pictures of it online, is now facing legal charges for animal cruelty.

It will  be remembered that in June of 2011, Senador, in his attempt to become famous, posted a picture of his unlucky puppy hanging on the clothesline after bath with the description “Bagong Ligo si Puppy”.

Senador even bragged that he will not be sent to jail because he is a “senador”. To quote:

Hahaha, hnd ako makukulong noh.. remember senador toh! aquh ng pa2pad ng Animal cruelty at kya kong bawiin yun! ahahahaha

But after being swamped with angry messages, he took the images down and issued a public apology posted on his page, saying, “To all animal lovers and to people all over the world please read this. I would like to ask for forgiveness for the wrong I've done against my dog. I hope you could forgive me and I promise it will never happen again.

Now, after almost a year, the Municipal Trial Court of Calamba, Laguna issued a warrant of arrest against Senador for violation of Republic Act 8485 or the Animal Welfare Act.

However, the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) said when the police arrived at his Looc address, Senador was nowhere to be found. His parents even said that their son has left home and that his present whereabouts are unknown to them.

PAWS is now seeking help to find information leading to his arrest.

RA 8485 states that upon conviction, Senador will be punished by imprisonment of six months to two years or a fine of P1,000 to P5,000 or both.

Slater Young Stars in ‘MMK’ Episode this Saturday

Slater Young Stars in ‘MMK’ Episode this Saturday

Maalaala Mo Kaya” continues to present socially relevant issues with its weekly episodes that do not only entertain but also reflect the real struggles and triumphs of the ordinary Filipino people.

After recently featuring stories about the strong bond of a gay with a lesbian sibling and the inspiring experience of a teenage mother, “MMK” shares this Saturday (April 28) another empowering tale, this time about a woman who bravely decided to end her marriage for her to live again.

Topbilled by Dimples Romana and Ian de Leon, this week’s episode is about the misery that a battered wife had to go through the process of annulment. In the story Michelle (Dimples) filed an annulment case against her husband who was perennially beating her all throughout their marriage. Along the ordeal, she met a lawyer named David (Ian) who, like her, just came out of a bad relationship. As both struggle with their own failed romance, Michelle and David found themselves falling for each other. Amid the disapproval of their families and the judgment of the society in their budding relationship, can Michelle and David prove that their love is genuine? Is there life after a failed marriage?

Meanwhile, TV viewers, especially the loyal followers of Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) will surely anticipate this week’s “MMK” episode as the said reality show’s latest big winner Slater Young takes on his first role in the top-rating drama program.

Together with Ian, Dimples, and Slater this Saturday are Lloyd Zaragoza, Madz Nicolas, Soliman Cruz, Kaye Miranda, Charles Christianson, and Alyanna Angeles. It is researched by Matet Balanay, written by Joan Habana and directed by Nuel Naval.

Cinema One Ready for the 35th Gawad Urian

Cinema One Ready for the 35th Gawad Urian

After Cinema One’s success in producing last year’s prestigious awards night, the Philippines’ no. 1 cable channel now prepares for the 35th Gawad Urian, whose awards night will be held June 14 (Thursday) at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo.

Grace Javier-Alfonso, chair of the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (MPP), which hands out the Gawad Urian, said: “We are pleased to collaborate with Cinema One once again, a pioneer in digital cinema that retains the free spirit and cutting edge in today’s national cinema.”

Some of the memorable recipients of the Gawad Urian Best Picture since the Manunuri was founded in 1976 were Eddie Romero’s “Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon?” Lino Brocka’s “Jaguar” and “Bayan Ko, Kapit sa Patalim,” Ismael Bernal’s “City After Dark/Manila By Night,” Mike de Leon’s “Kisapmata,” Lav Diaz’s “Batang West Side,” Dante Mendoza’s “Tirador,” “Serbis,” and “Kinatay,” and last year’s “Ang Damgo Ni Eleuteria” by Remton Siega Zuasola.

The Urian’s Natatanging Aktor ng Dekada Award has also been given to the paramount actors of every decade. Last year, Gina Pareño, Cherry Pie Picache and Coco Martin were honored with the Dekada award for their accomplishments in the first decade of the century. In the ‘80s, they went to Vilma Santos, Nora Aunor, Gina Alajar and Philip Salvador. Nora and Vilma again received the award in the ‘90s with Richard Gomez.

This year’s Gawad Urian is again a celebration of regional, multicultural, multilingual cinema that highlighted Philippine Cinema last year. This is a cutting edge attempt to encourage and support the indie spirit.

The Natatanging Gawad Urian will be given this year to an artist in the film industry for his/her exemplary contribution to the development of fiilmmaking in the country. Previous recipients of this special award were National Artists Fernando Poe, Jr., Gerardo de Leon, Lamberto Avellana, and Eddie Romero, Anita Linda, Rosa Rosal, Gloria Romero, Nida Blanca, Dolphy, Eddie Garcia, Pancho Magalona, Mona Lisa, and creative artists like cinematographers, editors, and scriptwriters. The name of this year’s awardee will be revealed soon.

Also, this year’s venue—the CCP main theatre or Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo—is most appropriate for the prestigious and historic Gawad Urian show. The CCP was built in 1966 to promote and preserve Filipino arts and culture. The main theater is the largest performance venue inside the CCP and can accommodate up to 1,853 people. The hall was built to meet sound requirements of various types of presentations like opera and orchestra performances without further amplification.

Meanwhile, Cinema One’s mounting of last year’s Gawad Urian was remarkable as it presented the country’s internationally acclaimed singer Lea Salonga and many others.

The Gawad Urian is given annually since 1977. Its objectives are “to examine Filipino films, bolster the interest of the masses and the Philippine film industry, study and celebrate the achievement that will help define the good Filipino film, and cultivate the knowledge and skills that the film medium was designed for, which is to be a medium of communication and expression of our culture according to the standards and conditions of filmmaking in our country.”

Stay tuned to Cinema One for the latest updates on the 35th Gawad Urian. Cinema One is available on SkyCable Gold, SkyCable Silver and other quality cable operators nationwide. For more information, logon to http://www.facebook.com/Cinema1channel.

Emmanuelle Vera Releases Self-Titled Debut Album

OPM’s newest sweetheart Emmanuelle has undeniably what it takes to make it to this Industry– enchanting singing voice, pretty face, innate songwriting talent.

However, unknown to many, this young singer worked very hard to finally fulfill her dreams of having her own album – Universal Records’ latest release "Emmanuelle".

From the first time I auditioned in front of executives of Universal, it took me around four years to finally have my album released,” shares Emmanuelle. “Upon the advise of my management Cornerstone and the label, I had to undergo series of voice lessons, learn to play instruments, write better songs, and practice my tagalog.”

These sacrifices, according to Emmanuelle, make this album extra special. Aside from being her first release, she feels that a lot of stories are enveloped in this album.

The album’s carrier single Happy, a feel-good pop tune, was written by Emmanuelle when she was just 14 years old.

The inspiration for Happy? Well, one time, my best friend brought me home,” she says. “So, we tried to capture that in the music video with Ivan Dorschner.

Aside from Happy, Emmanuelle penned songs like Dear Diary, and Tonight. She also interpreted songs of Ito Rapadas (Sandali Lang) and Jude Gitamondoc (Sarap Mabuhay). She also has her rendition of the hit ballad God Gave Me You.

Aside from being a gifted singer and songwriter, Emmanuelle is also a promising guitar player.

Pop Rock Princess Yeng Constantino has a special duet with Emmanuelle in the album – Manong Guard.

Masaya talaga ako na nakasama ako sa album na ‘to,” admits Yeng. “I am extremely happy that Emmanuelle has been given this chance to record some songs that she wrote herself – dun sa aspect na yun, pareho kaming singer-songwriter.”

Emmanuelle is being managed by Cornerstone Talent Management Center (http://www.cornerstonetalents.com/).

This year, Tanikala: Ang Ikaapat Na Yugto captured the highest audience share among other TV specials in its timeslot last Holy Week.

According to overnight data results from AGB Nielsen, all three episodes of Tanikala which aired on GMA gathered the highest audience share among nationwide viewers in the 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. slot.

The Maundy Thursday episode “Unos,” featuring actress Amy Austria-Ventura as a mother engaged in witchcraft, was watched by over 4.8 million viewers.

Meanwhile, the Good Friday episode “Gapos,” introducing rising indie actor Junjun Quintana as a notorious gang leader, got an audience share of more than 5.7 million.

The Black Saturday episode “Wasak,” with actor-host Icko Gonzalez portraying a gospel singer succumbing to addictions, the true-to-life story garnered close to 4 million viewers.

All stories featured in Tanikala: Ang Ikaapat Na Yugto were based on real accounts of people who have experienced life-changing transformation and freedom from the bondage of sin and darkness.

Indeed, millions of Filipinos nationwide found great encouragement while watching the fourth installment of Tanikala.

Tony Amora Robles said on Facebook, “I cried after watching Tanikala. It really is a life changing program!

Also on Facebook, Mars Mendoza expressed her joy: “Superb! These shows not only have good quality, they also have valuable lessons that can surely save lives.”

‘Patrol ng Pilipino’ Examines Erap-Binay Coalition for 2013 Elections

‘Patrol ng Pilipino’ Examines Erap-Binay Coalition for 2013 Elections

The merger of Vice President Jejomar Binay’s party, PDP-Laban and former President Joseph ‘Erap’ Estrada’s Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) has not only signaled the start of the country’s campaign season but has also drawn mixed reactions from their political opponents.

Tonight in “Patrol ng Pilipino,” Ron Gagalac will examine the influence of the Erap-Binay alliance, called UNA or United Nationalist Alliance, on the upcoming elections by interviewing political analysts and members of opposing parties such as LAKAS, Nacionalista, National People’s Coalition, and President Benigno Aquino III’s Liberal Party.

Some of them believe that the creation of UNA can also influence the ongoing impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona because Binay, who expressed his intention to run for president in 2016, would benefit from Corona’s acquittal.

The UNA coalition has already invited popular senatorial bets for their slate including Joey de Venecia III, Loren Legarda, Alan Peter Cayetano, and Francis Escudero. Who else are speculated to be the coalition’s potential candidates in the 2013 senatorial race?

Meanwhile, Gretchen Malalad will learn a new self-defense sport called Krav Maga from Israel that combines striking, wrestling, and grappling techniques that can be used in life threatening situations such as rape.

Cinema One Brings ‘Ang Babae sa Septic Tank’ to Boracay

Beach loving moviegoers clad in their colorful summer and pop inspired wear recently headed to the White House Beach Resort in Station 1 with high anticipation of having a grand time at the free beach screening of “Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank” hosted by Cinema One, the number one cable channel in the Philippines.

John “Sweet” Lapus and Cai Cortez, hosted the evening and warmly welcomed hundreds of guests at the resort’s shore which was decorated with colorful bottle lamps and soft throw pillows which set the mood for a relaxing movie watching. Even on the island, Cinema One observed the “Earth Hour” where all electricity was turned off. The pre-show was seamless as the beats of the Island Rhythm Force percussion band and some fire dancers kept the audience entertained until it was time to start the film.

Upon turning on all electricity again, Kapamilya stars and beach hotties Jake Cuenca, Megan Young and Kean Cipriano gamely mingled with their fans also engaged the audience in some parlor games where the contestants won special prizes from the event sponsors.

The film’s lead actress and “People’s Choice for Favorite Actress in the 6th Asian Film Awards” Eugene Domingo who couldn’t make it that night gave the audience a funny heartfelt message on video about how much she wanted to be there but can’t because she’s currently filming the Kimmy Dora sequel.

There are no theaters here on the island so we always look forward to Cinema One’s outdoor screening events where there’s always a free movie treat,” said a Boracay resident. “I love Eugene Domingo! The movie was so funny! I am looking forward to the next Kimmy Dora. Thanks Cinema One!”, shared a guest from Manila.

The film was segued with a mini concert lead by Kean Cipriano and his band Callalily. Shirtless and ripped, the ladies went crazy over his tunes. They swooned and took snapshots of their idol.

The after party sent everyone dancing as DJ Mars Miranda gave Boracay a taste of Top 40 tunes.

Purple Crab Discovered in the Philippines

Purple Crab Discovered in the Philippines

Crab...more colorful in the Philippines!

A purple crab, dubbed Insulamon palawanense, was recently discovered  in Palawan, Philippines.

The colorful crustacean is said to be one of four new species in the Insulamon genus described in a recent study.

The crab's brilliant hues may simply help the species recognize its brethren, said study author Hendrik Freitag, of the Senckenberg Museum of Zoology in Dresden, Germany.

"The particular violet coloration might just have evolved by chance, and must not necessarily have a very specific function or reason aside from being a general visual signal for recognition," said Hendrik Freitag, whose study was published in February in the Raffles Bulletin of Zoology.

Freitag described the four new crabs - each between about an inch (2.5 centimeters) to 2 inches (5.3 centimeters) wide - from museum specimens and individuals collected during two field surveys in Palawan. Only one other species, I. unicorn, is already known in the genus, and it was identified in 1992.

Daniel Padilla "Hinahanap-Hanap Kita" Music Video and Lyrics

Hinahanap-hanap kita
Hinahanap-hanap kita
Sa isip at panaginip
Bawa't pagpihit ng tadhana
Hinahanap-hanap kita

Sabik sa 'yo
Kahit maghapon
Na tayong magkasama parang telesine
Ang ating ending
Hatid sa bahay n'yo
Sabay goodnight, sabay may kiss
Sabay bye-bye, Oh

Sa umaga't sa gabi
Sa bawa't minutong lumilipas
Hinahanap-hanap kita
Hinahanap-hanap kita
Sa isip at panaginip
Bawa't pagpihit ng tadhana
Hinahanap-hanap kita

Sa school, sa flag ceremony
Hanggang uwian araw-araw
Hinahanap-hanap kita
Hinahanap-hanap kita
At kahit na magka-anak kayo't
Magkatuluyan balang araw
Hahanap-hanapin ka
Hahanap-hanapin ka

Kim Chiu "Softly" Music Video and Lyrics

Ribbons of gold
The spark of light
Knowing you near
Lights of my night
Softly you break into my heart tonight

The moment you walked into that place
I felt my heart begin to race
Softly you break into my heart tonight

Softly you break
Break into my heart tonight
Softly you break
Break into my heart tonight
Softly, softly hoping
Let me feel your heart tonight
Softly, softly hoping
Let me feel your heart tonight

If I could stop time
I'd stop it here
Safe in your arms
So close and near
Softly you break into my heart tonight

Two stars collide
In the dark of night
'Cause the feeling I have
This heart to fight
Softly you break into my heart tonight

Softly you break
Break into my heart tonight
Softly you break
Break into my heart tonight
Softly, softly hoping
Let me feel your heart tonight
Softly, softly hoping
Let me feel your heart tonight

Softly you break
Break into my heart tonight
Softly, softly hoping
Let me feel your heart tonight

This world is gotta keep on spinning
Keeping us apart
That's why we gotta sees this moment
And make a start

Softly you break
Break into my heart tonight
Softly you break
Break into my heart tonight
Softly you break
Break into my heart tonight
Softly you break
Break into my heart tonight
Softly, softly hoping
Let me feel your heart tonight
Softly, softly hoping
Let me feel your heart tonight

Your caring heart
Keeps out the rain
Let's get it together
And make it right
Softly, you hold me
'Till the morning light
(Softly you break into my heart tonight)
