Iconic Rapper Gloc-9 Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Mom in His Revealing Mother’s Day Vlog

In his Youtube Mother's Day vlog, iconic Filipino rapper Gloc-9, whose real name is Aristotle Pollisco, offers a heartfelt tribute to his mom Blesilda as he reveals intimate details about growing up in a poor family from Binangonan, Rizal.

The Mother's Day video draws on some heart-rending visuals that depict Pollisco's early life with his mom. Through a series of film photographs, the rapper conjures up memories of how his mom raised him and his three other siblings while his father worked as a mechanic in Saudi Arabia.

Pollisco recalls his mother striving to eke out extra income. "Nagtayo si Nanay ng sari-sari store," the rapper wistfully recalls in the video. "Dahil kahit nasa abroad si Tatay, sapat lang ang kinikita niya para sa pangangailangan namin kada buwan."

When times were really tough, Pollisco remembers his mom pawning or selling some of her precious jewelry because none of these could compare to her cherished children's needs.

"Minsan may panahon na nag-iiba ang mga gastusin," the young man reminisces, "kaya makikita mo 'yan si Nanay, pumipili sa mga alahas niya para isangla."

Pollisco was witness to his mother's intrepid efforts to earn money on top of cooking three meals a day and doing household chores - often back-breaking tasks that she handled with utmost patience.

The rapper now believes that the equanimity and grace that his beloved mother displayed then are reflected in his wife Thea's own dedication, resilience, and resourcefulness as a spouse to him and mother to their children.

"Ang aking maybahay na si Thea at si Nanay ay magkatulad ng ugali," he says. "Palagi nila inuuna ang kapakanan ng kanilang mga anak. Di bale nang mawalan sila, basta meron ang mga bata."

The video paints a soothing - if a radically different - image of Pollisco, who's usually known for his blunt and abrasive lyrics as Gloc-9. In the rapper's Mother's Day vlog, the viewer will realize the extent his mom had gone to in helping him become one of the best-selling artists of the Philippine's contemporary music scene.

These days, Pollisco acknowledges that his mother's resourcefulness was something that Cebuana Lhuillier had helped inspire as it was his Nanay's trusted pawnshop each time they went through a rough patch. It was also through Cebuana that his father remitted money from Saudi Arabia.

"I'm happy that Cebuana has given me the opportunity to thank them - and more importantly, my mom," the rapper says. "As a company, Cebuana embodies the spirit of diskarte and pagbangon that my mother raised us with."

In the video, Gloc-9 heartily promotes the Cebuana Lhuillier 24K Reward Program, which enables Cebuana customers to earn points with every transaction. These points can be used to pay for your Cebuana transactions or even buy load. Signing up online for the reward program is free.

"The 24K Program is a great idea!" Gloc-9 enthuses. "With the pandemic going on, I personally use it whenever I need to transfer money remotely. And I love that I can save on fees because of the points I've earned."

In the past, Cebuana was his mother's go-to place for money remittances. Now, with those days of dire financial straits behind them, it's Gloc-9's turn to send money to his Nanay - and sending cash through Cebuana is Cebuana Lhuillier coming full circle.

Get your Cebuana Lhuillier 24k e-card for free when you sign up online at 24k.cebuanalhuillier.com/signup/pr.

Direk Connie brings her expertise and experience to “The Broken Marriage Vow,” about a woman who, in the face of betrayal, finds strength and courage to protect what she loves.

“The Broken Marriage Vow” is the sixth local adaptation of “Doctor Foster” following its adaptations in France, Russia, Turkey, India, and South Korea, whose “The World of the Married” would become the country’s highest rated cable TV drama.

Insight Music Releases Sleep-Inducing Album Called “The Perfect Sleep”

Record label Insight Music, alarmed by the rapidly increasing cases of sleeplessness among this country's adult population, seeks to help insomnia-afflicted Filipinos fall into restful slumber by releasing The Perfect Sleep, a groundbreaking album that effectively induces sleep.

Presented by all-natural sleep supplement DreamWell and composed by brilliant music arranger Ian Joseph Tan, The Perfect Sleep is an hour-long instrumental album that promotes deep and relaxing sleep. It is now available in various streaming platforms including Youtube, Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and iTunes.

"Way before the pandemic hit the Philippines, a vast number of Filipino adults were already stricken by a different kind of epidemic—sleeplessness," says Insight Music president and chief creative director Chris Cahilig.

"Sleeplessness, a disorder that is commonly known as insomnia, may not be as deadly as Covid-19 but it is just as critical and devastating to one's health and well-being. It is during deep slumber, after all, when the body has the opportunity to repair itself and recover so that poor sleep quality or sleep deprivation has severe consequences on the body's capacity to resist illness," Cahilig further explains.

A 2019 study by Sleep Cycle disclosed that the Philippines ranks 4th in the world in sleeplessness, averaging just 6 and a half hours of sleep - significantly lower than the recommended amount of 7 to 9 hours per day.

Still another study published by the St. Luke's Medical Center claims that over 10 million adult Filipinos suffer from insomnia - putting them at risk for cardiovascular issues, cancer, depression, diabetes, as well as other afflictions. Various medical literature, in fact, affirm that lack of sleep renders the body susceptible to the debilitating effects of stress that people undergo on a daily basis.

The Perfect Sleep by DreamWell is designed specifically for listening on those nights when stress, anxiety, or plain restlessness tend to keep people awake way into the wee hours. Indeed, the album is meant to lull them to deep and restful slumber when they need it most.

The Perfect Sleep by DreamWell's gentle guitar strums and soft beats were carefully constructed to give sleep-deprived listeners a mesmerizing experience they can instantly benefit from. Rihanna Performance Gives Kapamilya Star Vivoree Esclito Her First Win in “YFSF S3”

After several trending performances in previous weeks, Vivoree Esclito finally secured a victory in "Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 3."

The rising sweetheart's confident performance as her idol Rihanna got the highest votes from the jury and celebrity performers combined last Sunday (March 28), making her the sixth weekly winner of the hit Kapamilya musical variety competition.

"Sobrang thank you po. Kayo din ang inspiration ko actually kasi sobrang gagaling niyo kaya I know I have to level up my performance," she told her fellow contestants, after receiving the P50,000 and trophy at stake this week.

Vivoree, who had transformed into Selena Gomez, Kim Chiu, Geneva Cruz, Camila Cabello, and Sarah Geronimo the previous weeks, also thanked their mentors in the show, Jed Madela and Nyoy Volante, jury members Gary Valenciano, Ogie Alcasid, and Sharon Cuneta, as well as her fans, friends, and family.

Week six was especially tough for the jury after they witnessed some of the best performances by the contestants so far. They even gave their highest scores to three different celebrity performers. Ogie gave his eight points to iDolls, who transformed into Boyz II Men. Sharon thought Vivoree was the week's best, while Gary found Geneva's take on Freddie Aguilar as most amazing in the field.

Even celebrity performers gave their three points to different acts, with four choosing to give theirs to Vivoree. Vivoree, meanwhile, commended the performance of Lie Reposposa, who even teased her new single after her applauded number as Lolita Carbon.

Other contestants also did not disappoint in their transformations. Klarisse De Guzman came out as Mariah Carey, Jhong Hilario became Bob Marley, Christian Bables channeled Michael Jackson, while CJ Navato took the stage as Barry Manilow.

Don't miss another fun and entertaining weekend on "Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 3" hosted by Luis Manzano every Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 7:30 pm on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, Kapamilya Online Live, and iWantTFC. “My Roommate is a Gumiho” feat. Lee Hye Ri and Jang Ki-yong Premieres May 26 on iQiyi

International on-demand streaming service iQiyi released a new trailer for its first original Korean drama series, My Roommate is a Gumiho.

In the trailer, the 999-year-old Gumiho (nine-tailed fox), played by Jang Ki-yong, sat across from 22-year-old college student Lee Hye-ri and discussed how she should call Jang Ki-yong. Lee Hye-ri discovered Jang Ki-yong was 977 years older than her, so she called him "Grand-miho" in a flash, but Jang Ki-yong did not like it. The witty Hye-ri then called him "Elder." From his expression in the trailer, Jang Ki-yong was quite satisfied with the name "Elder." He also looked into Lee Hye-ri's eyes and showed his affection and kindness for her just like treating a child. In the previous trailers and behind the scenes of workshops, we can see that Jang Ki-yong was quite nagging to Lee Hye-ri, not only urging her to go home on time, but also knocking on her room door for response, and even murmured if Lee Hye-ri didn't turn off TV or wash her socks. People jokingly called Jang Ki-yong as "Grandpa Gumiho." Many fans are waiting to see how the romance story of two with such a big age gap would unfold.

My Roommate is a Gumiho tells the story of Jang Ki-yong, a Gumiho who has lived quietly in the world for hundreds of years to become a human. He was only one step away from success, but his fox bead, which was to make him human, was swallowed by Hye-ri by mistake. From there, they had to start living in a house together to solve this problem. They had quarrels at first and later began to understand and get along well with each other. It is also the first time Jang Ki-yong is acting as the male lead of a light-hearted comedy instead of the heavy roles he essayed in the past, and also the first time for him to perform a non-human role. My Roommate is a Gumiho will premiere exclusively on iQiyi Philippines starting May 26.

Newest Kapamilya Sunshine Dizon and Jake Ejercito Express Excitement About Their First ABS-CBN Series "Marry Me, Marry You"

Newly minted Kapamilya stars Sunshine Dizon and Jake Ejercito expressed their gratitude and excitement about getting to work on their first teleserye in ABS-CBN, “Marry Me, Marry You,” which goes into production this May.

In her first media conference as a Kapamilya on Friday (April 30), Sunshine shared that when she was offered a part in the Kapamilya teleserye, she knew it was “meant to be.”

I’ve always asked the Lord to plant me where I will bloom. In all the seasons of my life, I’ve trusted His will. I’m just grateful and excited that I am given this opportunity to be working with Kapamilya naman ngayon. When my manager said there’s an offer from Dreamscape, from sir Deo Endrinal, I just knew in my heart that it was meant to be. In this season in my life, in my career, I needed to do this,” said Sunshine.

The award-winning actress also said that with “Marry Me, Marry You,” the thing she is looking forward to the most is working with people she looks up to, including director Dwein Ruedas Baltazar, Vina Morales, and Cherry Pie Picache. The series will also launch the fresh team-up of Paulo Avelino and Janine Gutierrez.

I’m excited because I’m a big fan of Direk Dwein. And the environment, these are actors that I look up to. For my career, it’s coming to a full circle na maka-experience naman ako ng mga pinapanood ko lang noon, makakasama ko na ngayon,” she added.

Jake, in a separate media conference, revealed he has been busy preparing for his first-ever teleserye role, which he said he has been waiting for since he started doing acting stints in teleseryes and movies.

Until now I’m still overwhelmed to be part of the show and to be amongst these brilliant talented actors… Ever since noon, inaaral ko na ang script that we have. I just wanna get into taping. When I saw the list ng mga makakasama sa show, parang na-check na ang lahat ng nasa checklist ko. It’s a mix of very talented, brilliant actors and actresses, veterans, and newbies like me. Talagang ibang klase ang mix,” aniya.

Jake also teased viewers about his role and what they can anticipate about the series. According to him, his character’s name is Cedric, a childhood friend and the right-hand man of Paulo’s character.

The series is great, it’s what the viewers need now. It’s not your typical drama, it’s lighter than usual. This is a great time to be releasing and offering this series to our viewers now,” said Jake.

Produced by Dreamscape Entertainment,“Marry Me, Marry You” will be directed by Dwein Ruedas Baltazar and Jojo Saguin. The series’ superstar cast also includes Cherry Pie, Vina, Teresa Loyzaga, Lito Pimentel, Joko Diaz, Jett Pangan, and Edu Manzano.
