Bacolod Doctor Andres Gumban Jr. Killed and Videotaped by 2 Minors (Video)

Bacolod Doctor Andres Gumban Jr. Killed and Videotaped by 2 Minors (Video)

The two teenagers who stabbed to death Bacolod-based physician Andres Gumban Jr. took a mobile phone video of the grisly killing they committed at the victim's house in Barangay Alijis on the night of May 10, police said.

The video, which runs for 5 minutes and 18 seconds, was shown to reporters at the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) yesterday.

Suspects of Pascual Jr., 18, of Brgy. Tadlong, Sagay City, and a 16-year-old from Cadiz City, are now detained at the BCPO lock-up cell.

Gumban, 63, a pulmonologist who is also engaged in a number of businesses in Bacolod, sustained about 35 stab wounds, based on the autopsy report.

Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, city police director, said the video debunks the claim of the minor suspect that he stabbed Gumban to defend himself from the doctor's sexual advances.

"It establishes that there was no sexual assault. We can see that the two suspects conspired to kill Dr. Gumban, and there is treachery," De la Paz said.

Gumban met the minor suspect on Facebook and invited him and his friend Pascual to come to Bacolod that day. He later brought them to his house.

The video, taken using the cellphone of the minor suspect, captured the series of events that led to the death of Gumban. It showed the boy, wearing only a pair of shorts, hit the doctor, who was standing in front of the kitchen sink, with a stone on the head.

When Gumban fell down, Pascual stabbed the doctor four times. As the victim was struggling and calling for help, the suspects continued to hit and stab Gumban as they dragged him towards the bathroom. The minor went inside to apparently make sure that Gumban was dead. Pascual closed the bathroom with the two inside and went to Gumban's room.

As the minor went out of the bathroom, the video showed him sliding down the bloodied floor. After that, both suspects were also shown washing themselves off with blood. Towards the end of the video, the doctor's sprawling body was shown, and the minor suspect also showed his face.

De la Paz said the video was among the pieces of evidence they submitted when they filed the case for robbery with homicide/murder against the two teenagers before the City Prosecutor's Office yesterday.

Ella Cruz Doesn’t Mind Being Compared to Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes

ABS-CBN’s newest primetime princess and “Aryana” lead star Ella Cruz doesn’t mind being compared to her former “Goin’ Bulilit” co–stars Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes, who are now both lead stars to their own Kapamilya teleseryes, “Princess and I” and “Walang Hanggan,” respectively.

I believe it’s just normal to be compared to them, especially that we are all doing the same thing. I’m open to other people’s comments as long as it will help me become a better actress. And as for Kathryn and Julia, I am really happy for their success and it inspires me a lot,” Ella said.

According to Ella, her show’s consistent high ratings somehow makes her nervous and at the same time more driven to improve on her craft. She said, “I will continue to improve my talent for the avid TV viewers of ‘Aryana.”

Meanwhile, after getting disowned by his father Victor (Tonton Gutierrez), will Aryana finally give up on her dream of having a complete family? How will her life change when Neptuna’s (Desiree del Valle) curse already transforms her into a mermaid?

James Reid and Bret Jackson Release "Hope It's Soon" Music Video and Lyrics

James Reid and Bret Jackson Release "Hope It's Soon" Music Video and Lyric

On a bus, on a plane on the road switching lanes
She call me up to see if I'm make it home someday
I tell her I really don’t know I really don’t know

And that’s gonna hurt her again
Something I never wanna do to her again
Maybe were better off just being friends

But she always tell me it will be us in the end
But how does she know she just knows
Something she explained to me before (me before)

Shit got crazy before things were hazy before
When I was nobody and no one wanted to play me
Or the songs or the music that I made

I was just a kid who didn’t have a name
I guess things really really really do change
Something I don’t like to admit
But I’d rather tell the truth then talk a bunch of shit

And that’s why it's never over
That’s why ill never quit
And with her on my mind with her given time

I promise I’ll work hard to the bone till I die
I promise I promise I promise to be true
I'm coming home to you I just hope its soon

I promise I promise I promise to be true
im coming home to you I just hope its soon

Baby you don’t owe em just take your time and show em
yeah we could fall in love or try

lose your body make me feel alright alright
lose your body make me feel alright alright

Baby you don’t owe em just take your time and show em
Yeah we could fall in love or try

Lose your body make me feel alright alright
Lose your body make me feel alright alright alright
Lose your body make me feel alright alright

I cant wait to see my baby it’s been so long
I cant go on when I think of you I go crazy
I need your touch miss you so much

Whatever obstacles have come in between me and you
If you trust me again I promise will make it through
I just hope its soon I just hope its soon

Baby you don’t owe em just take your time and show em

‘Kasalanan Bang Ibigin Ka?’ Premieres June 4 on GMA-7

‘Kasalanan Bang Ibigin Ka?’ Premieres June 4 on GMA-7

GMA-7 offers an intriguing but no less heartrending addition to its unbeatable afternoon drama block with “Kasalanan Bang Ibigin Ka?” The program will air beginning June 4, Monday, after Hiram na Puso on GMA Afternoon Prime.

Starring Geoff Eigenmann, Jennica Garcia and Jackie Rice, Kasalanan Bang Ibigin Ka? follows a compelling storyline that explores how bonds between family members are put to the test in the face of love. It also features Michael de Mesa, Angelika dela Cruz, Bobby Andrews, and Sharmaine Arnaiz together with Bubbles Paraiso, Diego Castro, and Pancho Magno.

“Kasalanan Bang Ibigin Ka? is deliciously daring and sinfully addicting,” described its director Mr. Mark Reyes. “It’s very exciting to see real life father and son Michael de Mesa and Geoff Eigenmann face off as rivals in an edgy love triangle with Jackie Rice, as we guarantee everyone an unpredictable show.”

While this new Kapuso afternoon drama delves on mature topics, it also looks at a person’s capacity to bear with life’s challenges, and sacrifice for the sake of his or her loved ones.

In the series, sisters Erica (Jackie Rice) and Bianca (Jennica Garcia) have always lived a happy and comfortable life with their parents that painted for them an ideal image of “true love”.

Keeping this so-called image in mind, the simple and unassuming Erica meets the endearingly handsome yet arrogant Jake (Geoff Eigenmann) and falls in love with him. But her idea of a perfect love story was ruined after Jake mysteriously disappeared and was never heard from again.

As Erica tries to move on with her family by her side, life takes a dark turn when they meet an accident that left both Erica and Bianca’s parents dead.

Things only become worse after the girls realize that their parents have been hiding their family’s real financial situation for some time. Both must now make a living on their own in order for them to survive.

Tension begins to grow between the two sisters but even more when Bianca finds out that she might be in danger of losing her sight as a result of the accident.

With no one else to turn to, Erica approaches her boss Jaime (Michael de Mesa), a divorced businessman who has always paid special attention to her, and asks him to take care of the expenses for Bianca’s operation making way for the sisters’ reconciliation.

Soon after, Jaime professes his feelings for Erica, and eventually asks for her hand in marriage. Erica, being reminded of the many good things Jaime has done for her and her sister, agrees.

As the day of their wedding approaches, Erica’s life turns upside down when Jaime’s children from his first wife Beatrice (Sharmaine Arnaiz) return – Jaime’s scheming daughter Leslie (Angelika dela Cruz) and son, Joaquin (Geoff Eigenmann), who turns out to be Erica’s former boyfriend Jake.

Still having feelings for her first love, how will Erica reveal the truth to Jaime whom she and Bianca are beholden so much of their lives to? What will come out of this unexpected rivalry between Jaime and his son Jake? What lengths will Leslie take to ruin Erica’s reputation in the eyes of her father as well as her brother? Can anything or anyone still come between Erica and Bianca?

Discover the answers in this afternoon drama created by the GMA Drama Group led by GMA Entertainment OIC Lilybeth Rasonable, AVP for Drama Redgie Acuña Magno, Senior Program Manager Cheryl Ching-Sy, Program Manager Hazel Abonita, and executive producer Joy Lumboy-Pili. The show is crafted by creative director Jun Lana, creative head Roy Iglesias, creative consultant Des Garbes-Severino, concept creator Kit Villanueva-Langit, and headwriter Agnes Gagelonia-Uligan.

Renato Corona Official Statement on the Guilty Verdict of Impeachment Court

Renato Corona Official Statement on the Guilty Verdict of Impeachment Court

Chief Justice Renato Corona has released an official statement related to the guilty verdict by the 20 Senator-judges related to his impeachment case as charged under Article 2 on Tuesday, May 29, 2012.

Read below:

The Medical City, Pasig City. Ika-29-ng Mayo, 2012.

Renato C. Corona"

Malacanang Releases Official Statement on Renato Corona Guilty Verdict

Malacanang, through Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte, released an official statement related to the guilty verdict of 20 Senator-judges on Chief Justice Renato Corona Impeachment case.

Here are the full text and video of Malacanang’s official statement:

"This afternoon, 20 Senators voted to convict Mr. Renato C. Corona on Article II of the Articles of Impeachment.

Our democratic institutions have been strengthened and have been proven to work.

Mr. Corona is merely the public face of the things that ail our justice system.

Let us never forget that those who come to court, be they rich or poor, must do so in the expectation of receiving impartial justice from those who uphold both the spirit and the letter of the law.

The verdict of the Senate is a step forward in terms of restoring public confidence in our courts, and trust in the members of the judiciary."

Xyriel Manabat is Mia Palusot this Saturday in ‘Wansapanataym’

Kapamilya child wonder Xyriel Manabat shares the value of honesty not only to fellow kids but to the whole family as well in the continuation of her “Wansapanataym” special this Saturday, June 2.

In this week’s ‘Mia Palusot’ episode, Xyriel portrays the role of Maimai, a dishonest child who is fond of making excuses to escape from doing her school works. As Maimai continues to make alibis, a mysterious man punishes her and made all her lies true to life. Until when will Maimai make excuses to avoid her responsibilities? Will she finally learns the value of honesty when her lies put her family’s life at risk?

Together with Xyriel in the episode are Ian de Leon, Angelu de Leon, Lloyd Zaragosa, Amy Nobleza, and Kimberly Fulgar. It is written by Philip King and directed by Jon Villarin.

“Wansapanataym” is a part of ABS-CBN’s “Bida Best Kid” campaign launched recently that aims to empower children by encouraging them to become who they want to be and the best that they can be. It doesn’t only entertain and educate its young viewers with its values-oriented, child-friendly programs, but supports their dreams and aspirations as well.

Luna Blanca Kid Stars Jillian Ward, Mona Louise Rey Spend Enchanting Afternoon with Moms, Daughters at Enchanted Kingdom

Luna Blanca Kid Stars Jillian Ward, Mona Louise Rey Spend Enchanting Afternoon with Moms, Daughters at Enchanted Kingdom

Jillian Ward and Mona Louise Rey, the lead child stars of the GMA primetime show “Luna Blanca,” spent an enchanting afternoon yesterday, May 27, at the Enchanted Kingdom theme park in Sta. Rosa, Laguna with lucky mother-daughter tandems as part of their program’s post-Mother’s Day online promo.

Two weeks ago, GMA launched an online promo asking netizens why they love their mothers. GMA Network fans on Facebook posted their answers on GMA’s Facebook Fan Page (www.facebook.com/gmanetwork) and from among those who responded, five winners were selected via raffle. The winners were given a chance to meet Jillian Ward who portrays the character of “Luna” and Mona Louise Rey who portrays the role of “Blanca” in Luna Blanca. The lucky winners also spent a day with the two child stars at the most popular theme park in the Philippines, Enchanted Kingdom.

A brief program was held at the Spaceport Zone of the theme park, where Jillian and Mona performed and hosted games for kids.

Jillian sang the Adele hit “Rolling in the Deep” and “Listen” from the musical film Dream Girls, while Mona Louise did a dance number.

Before hitting the theme park’s fun rides, Jillian and Mona thanked their fans: “Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat dahil sa suporta ninyo sa amin. Sana po ay panoorin ninyo ang ‘Luna Blanca’ after 24 Oras sa GMA,” they said.

Their show ‘Luna Blanca’

Jillian and Mona top-bill the first of the three “generations” in the story of “Luna Blanca.”

“Luna Blanca” tells of twins Luna and Blanca who are separated from each other when their mother Rowena (portrayed by Camille Prats) decides to put Blanca up for adoption to a rich woman. Rowena did so because she wanted Blanca to have a better future — one which she certainly could not provide. Luna, however, will have to deal with poverty and her mother’s indifference towards her. Luna is Rowena’s daughter with an engkanto who raped her when she was pregnant with Blanca. She sees Luna as a reminder of that gruesome incident and that explains why she mistreats her.

In the second generation of the three-part story, tween stars Barbie Forteza and Bea Binene will portray the characters of Blanca and Luna, respectively, and in the third generation, Heart Evangelista will portray Blanca’s character, while Bianca King portrays that of Luna’s.

Catch the gripping story of Luna Blanca during weeknights after 24 Oras on GMA-7.

For updates, you may follow the show’s Twitter account, @LunaBlancaGMA, or like its Facebook Fan Page at www.facebook.com/lunablancaGMA.

TV5’s top management led by Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan, President and CEO Atty. Ray C. Espinosa and Executive Vice President and COO Roberto V. Barreiro have expressed their support for the network’s official sports ambassador Derek Ramsay at the upcoming London Olympics 2012.

In a contract signing held at the First Pacific Leadership Academy recently, the TV5 big bosses underscored Derek’s crucial role in the network’s goal to inspire more Filipinos to engage in sports. Derek is slated to lead the TV5 delegation in London this July to deliver the most important highlights of all sporting events in the Olympics, especially the fate of Filipino athletes there. But before his network ambassador duties in London, Derek is poised to give his all in hosting The Amazing Race Philippines, the world’s most-awarded reality show that is set to make waves in Philippine TV later this year. Derek also reiterates that the opportunity to pursue his longstanding enthusiasm for sports is one of the primary reasons why he decided to join the Kapatid Network.
