Maxene Magalona 'Piyok' Performance Video Trends Worldwide

Is Maxene Magalona the newest Anne Curtis?

Despite being lambasted by Netizens due to her off-key performance on “Party Pilipinas,” Maxene Magalona just made light of the criticisms and even thanked her haters.

I’m still proud na kahit nagkamali ako, I still went on with the show. ‘Yun ‘yung importante, that I had fun. Na hindi ‘ko tinigil and at the same time I accepted that I’m not perfect. No one’s perfect,” she said in a taped interview on “24 Oras” aired on Jan. 30.

The incident happened in the Jan. 29 episode of the GMA-7 show where a well-dressed Maxene came out together with her brother Frank Magalona and performed the Eraserheads original “Pare Ko.” And that’s where all hell broke loose as she sang some of her verse parts off-key.

For that song number, she landed on the ninth spot of the top trending topics locally over on Twitter.

Maxene explained that what happened was an isolated case and that such mistakes usually happen during live shows.

Kasi dati pa naman akong kumakanta paminsan minsan sa ‘Party P’ but I never said I was a singer,” she quipped in the interview.

Despite all the criticisms hurled at her by haters, Maxene underscored that she wasn’t irked by them.

Kung makalait kayo, KAYO NA ANG PERFECT! I AM ME. Keber sa inyong lahat! #peacebewithyou :)” she posted on her Twitter account (@maxenemagalona).

She added, “Thanks for all the comments! Good or bad. Y'all made me trend! Hahaha! :) #IAMPP

Meanwhile, some of the actress' fans rallied to their idol's side and urged her not to mind the negative comments. Interestingly, aside from her fans, “Concert Sweetheart” Anne Curtis, who’s been known for her own off-key singing, empathized with Maxene via Twitter (@anncurtissmith).

The “AnneBisyosa: No Other Concert” performer posted, “Girl Ok lang ‘yan! Isang piyok lang ‘yan. Wala namang perfect! Ako nga buong kanta off key, pero Care!! Gusto ‘ko kumanta, ‘eh!

To which Maxene responded with a jest, “Huhuhu thanks girl! Lahat ng tao, grabe! Pumiyok lang ako ginagaya na agad si Concert Sweetheart? Eksaherada!!! Mwah! :)

Nevertheless, Maxene deems that her performance made her realize how she’s come to “really embrace her imperfections and flaws.”

The TV host-actress proudly owned up to her mistake and blurted, “Kaya nagpapa-interview ‘rin ako kasi hindi ‘ko ito tataguan. Talagang ilalabas at ilalabas ‘ko ito. Opo, pumiyok ako. Pumiyok po ako on national television at lahat po ng tao ay pwedeng magkamali. ‘Yun lang po.”

David Archuleta to Star in TV5’s Nandito Ako

In the tradition of producing high quality mini-seryes, TV5 brings another highly anticipated primetime program, Nandito Ako, starring international Kapatid star David Archuleta alongside the network’s home-grown princesses Jasmine Curtis Smith and Eula Caballero. Helmed by popular director Mac Alejandre, the series about young love will premiere this February 20, Monday, on TV5 primetime.

After the critically-acclaimed Sa Ngalan ng Ina (topbilled by the one and only Superstar, Ms. Nora Aunor) paved the way for the mini-serye format in Philippine television, the Kapatid Network embarks on another series that will capture the interest of younger viewers and the whole family alike. Apart from the three lead stars, the series is also a collaboration of some of the biggest names in the industry, including Gelli de Belen, Aiko Melendez, and comebacking actress, G Tongi. G Tongi admits that it was the offer to do Nandito Ako which prompted her to return to the Philippines after settling down in the United States a few years back.

As the American Idol Season 7 runner-up who became an international singing sensation, David Archuleta has earned an even stronger following both here and abroad when the TV5 released the teaser of his rendition of the Nandito Ako’s theme song of the same title, composed by Aaron Paul del Rosario and popularized by Ogie Alcasid and Lea Salonga.

As evidenced by the rave reception on the series’ characters both online (frequently landing on Twitter Philippines trending topics) and offline (high crowd attendance in mall shows), Nandito Ako is poised to be another top-rating show of TV5.

Nandito Ako will tell the story of young love, its joys and pains, among Josh (David Archuleta), Holly (Eula Caballero) and Anya (Jasmine Curtis Smith). Josh is an international singer who holds his final leg of concerts in the Philippines. This venture is also a quest to find his real identity, a thing that has been hidden from for a long time. He will meet Holly through one of the promotional activities of his concert. The innocent hearts will brew romance and will soon learn the ways of love. But love has its twists and turns and they’ll soon uncover realities that will change their hearts and minds. Anya, a boyish and carefree lass, is Holly’s bestfriend. With a twist of fate, will Josh fall for Anya instead?

Completing the cast of Nandito Ako are Alwyn Uytingco, Ana Capri, Mon Confiado, Ana Feleo, Joseph Bitangcol, RS Francisco, David Bianco, Byron Ortile, and Ms. Perla Bautista.

Don’t miss the premiere episode of Nandito Ako starring David Archuleta, Jasmine Curstis-Smith and Eula Caballero starting Monday, February 20, after Wil Time Bigtime on TV5.

Pauleen Luna Mom Mrs. Chat Luna Breaks Silence on Pauleen Luna - Vic Sotto Relationship

Mrs. Chat Luna, the mother of actress Pauleen Luna, is now very vocal about her stand on her daughter's alleged romance with her Eat Bulaga co-host Vic Sotto.

Pauleen earned negative remarks from netizens on her rumored relationship with the veteran comedy actor and her family, according to Mrs. Luna, is already affected by the controversy, which prompted her to speak in her daughter's defense.

In a statement, Mrs. Luna said that Pauleen is not using anyone for financial gains and her daughter worked hard and earned her own share of money while working in the industry.

"It pains her, and us as well, to hear that she is using someone else for financial gains. Just so everything is clear, Pauleen is not the breadwinner of the family," she said.

"She is a very simple lady with simple wants and needs. She has been smart in ensuring that her future is secured through her investments," she added.

Mrs. Luna revealed that her Pauleen is currently building her own house but clarified it was not a gift from anyone.

"Whatever she earns is placed in her own account, for her own disposal and has been accounted for since. Although she is not obligated in any way to share, we are very proud of her being a blessing for those in need," Mrs. Luna said.

Mrs.Luna also extended their family's apologies to Vic for being dragged into the issue.

GMA-7 Secures the Lead Nationwide Based on AGB Nielsen January 2012 Households Rating

GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) delivered a compelling sign-on this 2012 after winning the most number of Filipino urban television households nationwide this January, according to data of the more widely trusted ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

Based on household data recorded during the entire month (January 22 to 31 based on overnight readings), GMA had 36.7 average household audience share points, higher by 7.7 points than ABS-CBN's 29 points; and 21.5 points over TV5's 15.2 points.

Using an estimate of five viewers per household, GMA had 1.4 million more viewers over ABS-CBN and 3.9 million more viewers over TV5 from all over the country this January.

In Total Urban Luzon, which comprises over 77 percent of total television households nationwide, GMA posted double-digit leads over ABS-CBN and TV5. GMA had 39.9 household share points versus ABS-CBN's 25.5 points and TV5's 15.

GMA's solid programming therefore won approximately two million more viewers than ABS-CBN and about 3.5 million more viewers over TV5 in this area.

In Mega Manila, which now makes up more than 59 percent of total urban television households nationwide due to the recently added panel homes in Batangas and Laguna, GMA registered stronger double-digit margins over competing stations. GMA recorded 40.8 household share points as against ABS-CBN's 23.8 and TV5's 15.8 points.

In GMA's recognized bailiwick, it had an estimated 1.9 milllion more viewers over ABS-CBN and about 2.8 million more viewers over TV5 this January.

GMA continues its dominating performance across all areas in both morning and afternoon blocks. On primetime (6pm to 11pm), GMA hiked its nationwide share points from 31.8 points in December 2011 to 33.1 points in January this year. ABS-CBN, on the other hand, dropped its nationwide primetime share by 0.2 point.

GMA dominated the lists of overall top 10 programs in Total Urban Luzon and Mega Manila with seven and eight entries, respectively.

The Nielsen TV Audience Measurement used by GMA is used by 21 companies including two other local networks, namely, TV5 and Solar Entertainment; Faulkner Media; CBN Asia; 13 advertising agencies and three regional clients. On the other hand, ABS-CBN is the only local major TV network reportedly subscribing to Kantar Media, formerly known as TNS.

In Mega Manila alone, the Nielsen TV Audience Measurement has a sample size of 1,190 homes as compared to Kantar Media's 770 homes. Nationwide, Nielsen has a total sample size of 2,000 homes compared to the lower sample size of 1,370 utilized by Kantar Media.

ABS-CBN Remains Number 1 Nationwide According to Kantar Media/TNS January 2012 Households Rating

ABS-CBN Corporation, the country’s largest multimedia conglomerate, opens the year 2012 on a high note as it continues to lead national TV ratings in January, especially on primetime when most Filipinos TV and where advertisers invest most of their TV ad placements.

Kantar Media, which has national samples of 1,389 homes and 8,015 individuals that are statistically representative of total Philippine TV population, reported that ABS-CBN scored an average audience share of 41.2% nationwide based on households watching TV, or a nine point lead against rival GMA that hit only 32.1% on primetime (6pm – 12mn).

ABS-CBN programs once again proved to be the most watched in the previous month as eight out of the top ten programs nationwide for January were produced by ABS-CBN.

Top-caliber primetime series “Walang Hanggan” instantly rose to the top spot with an average household TV rating of 29.6% followed by weeknight tearjerker “Budoy” and recently concluded Christmas-serye “Ikaw ay Pag-ibig” on the second spot, both with 29.4%.

Kim Chiu starrer “My Binondo Girl,” which also aired its finale, garnered an average household TV rating of 28.2% in fourth while Asia’s longest running drama anthology “MMK” is on fifth with 27.5%.

Newest series “Eboy,” on the other hand, secured the sixth spot despite its only few days of airing and scored an average national TV rating of 27.2%.

Meanwhile, “TV Patrol” opens the year of the water dragon still as the number one newscast in the country as it hit an average household TV rating of 26.3% as opposed to rival “24 Oras” with only 19.8%.

She may be gone for good, but Elisa can still be found in Kantar Media’s most watched list last month as the local adaptation “Nasaan Ka Elisa?” placed 7th nationwide with 24.4%.

Completing the top ten is the number one current affairs show in the country, “Rated K,” anchored by Korina Sanchez, which got the last spot with 21.8% average household TV rating.

ABS-CBN registered a net income of P2.2 billion in the first nine months of 2011, while news media reported that GMA Network earned P1.58 billion net income in the same period.

National Primetime TV Viewership in January 2012 by Households

Kantar Media, a multinational market research group that specializes in audience measurement in more than 80 countries, has 22 TV networks, ad agencies, and pan-regional networks subscribing to its ratings services. Among its current subscribers are ABS-CBN, NBN, Sky Cable, J. Romero and Associates, Adformatix, Starcom, OMD, PhD, Mediacom, Mindshare, MEC, Maxus, Universal McCann, and Wellmade Manufacturing Corporation. They also include pan-regional networks likes CSM Media Inc., Fox International Channels, Star HK, Discovery, AXN, HBO, MTV, and Sony Pictures Television International.

ABS-CBN shifted to Kantar Media/TNS after filing a case vs. AGB Nielsen Media Research for failing to comply with its request to investigate alleged cheating and data tampering in TV ratings. The case is still pending in court contrary to claims by GMA, which is not a party to the case, that it has been resolved.

Angel Locsin Secret to be Revealed in ‘Toda Max’

Angel Locsin admitted recently that just like her character in new Star Cinema movie “Unofficially Yours,” her relationship with the athlete she currently dates is also unofficial.

The actress, however, clarified that her situation in real life is definitely far from what her character has experienced in the movie. She also said that what really matters most in a relationship isn’t the status but the mutual and unconditional love that both parties feel.

“My situation is totally different. I don’t relate much to my character,” she said.

If Angel didn’t disclose much about her love life, her character in “Toda Max” Isabel will be put into test, as her secret with boyfriend’s cousin Tol (Robin Padilla) is set to be revealed.

Tol will hesitate first in telling his cousin Justin (Vhong Navarro) what really happened between him and Isabel. Tol will find relief in making himself busy with work. That’s why he won’t notice that his daughter (Aaliyah Benisano) is also being secretive to him.

Sandy and Lady G’s (Pokwang) son Jonas (Paul Salas) will come home late to attend a dance practice intended for their school’s Foundation day. To get Tol’s consent, the two will lie and say they’re with Isabel.

Upon knowing this secret, Tol will get mad and paranoid that her daughter might get pregnant soon.

What if Tol finally tells Justin what happened between him and Isabel? Will there be another misunderstanding?
