Alex Gonzaga Shares Five Online Shopping Hacks this Shopee 5.15 Payday Sale

Actress and social media personality Alex Gonzaga may be one of today's hottest celebrities, but when it comes to online shopping, she's just like everyone else—always on the hunt for the best deals!

As the newest Shopee Princess and Filipinos' Payday Sale shopping buddy, Alex Gonzaga shares tipid and sulit tips just in time for akinse. Here are some of Alex's shopping hacks to help you maximize your sweldo at the 5.15 Payday Sale this May 15:

1. "'Pag sumweldo ka na, deposit mo muna. Tsaka ka lang mag-withdraw. 'Wag mo i-spend ang money na wala pa sa'yo. "

First thing Alex does when she gets her paycheck? She deposits all that hard-earned money to her bank account. Only then does she withdraw cash to buy essentials and pay bills. This way, she gets to budget her income and control her finances better.

2. "'Pag may gusto ka, 'wag mo binibili agad. Pag-isipan mo muna 3,000 times!"

Like the best of us, Alex used to be prone to impulsive purchases. However, her husband taught her to mull things over before checking out her shopping cart. Here's a handy trick from Alex: add the products you're eyeing to your cart and leave them there for a few weeks. If you still want them after that long, go ahead and check them out.

3. "Don't live grandiosely. 'Wag mong sanayin ang sarili mo na luxurious all the time."

It's perfectly fine to treat yourself from time to time, but for Alex, it's also important to stay practical. Her dad frequently reminds her that life will not always be as full of blessings, and she needs to save some for a rainy day.

4. "Before a sale, add to cart niyo na 'yung na namamatahan niyo. Pagpatak ng 12, check out na!"

Pro tip from Alex: Two days ahead of a big sale, add all the items you're planning to buy to your shopping cart. Picking them out during the sale itself can get stressful, especially when other shoppers beat you to in-demand items. You don't want that awesome deal to get sold out just as you're adding to cart!

5. "Andaming good deals on Shopee. You always have to check kung ano 'yung deals. I-maximize mo 'yung pagiging user of the app."

Users can avail plenty of big discounts on Shopee, but for even more deals, Alex advises shoppers to explore the app and always check their notifications. Alex herself recently discovered a big money-saver on Shopee: ₱1 restaurant vouchers! Shoppers can also enjoy other amazing promos such free shipping vouchers, cashback, free coins, and more on the app.

This Payday Sale, more deals are in store, such as ₱15 deals, free shipping with no minimum spend, and 15% cashback. For more information on these akinse deals, visit https://shopee.ph/m/payday-sale.

Inigo Pascual has whipped up a new hard-hitting international collab for 2021, this time with Fil-Am Grammy-nominated producer DJ Flict and island reggae legends Common Kings for the upcoming single "Danger," set to drop on May 14 (Friday).

The island pop track brings an infectious jam that can easily pass as an epic summer anthem. It is accompanied by playful lyrics that speak about a dangerous attraction with a feisty female.

"Danger's" songwriter and producer DJ Flict—who has worked with international artists like Lauryn Hill, Meghan Trainor, Wiz Khalifa, and Fifth Harmony—said he already envisioned Inigo being part of the song when he was making it.

"When I made this record, I did picture Inigo on it, and obviously he sounds amazing on it. I'm glad we could do this for the US, the Philippines, and everyone around the world," he shared.

Meanwhile DJ Flict's frequent collaborator, reggae band Common Kings, whose debut album "Lost in Paradise" scored a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album, is also thrilled to be featured in the song.

"When we first heard the track from Inigo and DJ Flict, we knew right away it was gonna be a worldwide smash. We can't wait to perform it worldwide! So much love for the Filipinos all around the world," the group said.

The forthcoming release of "Danger" follows Inigo's version of the Air Supply hit "All Out of Love" and his participation in Korean-American artist Annalé's multi-national track "Goodbye" with Brazilian-Japanese guitarist Mateus Asato and Malaysian trio MFMF.

The "Catching Feelings" hitmaker's international collaborations for the past two years is set to culminate this 2021 with the anticipated release of his "Options" album on June 25, available now for pre-order on iTunes.

GMA News and Public Affairs Launches “PPE: Pinoy Pandemic Essentials”

GMA News and Public Affairs gives practical answers to common yet important questions on COVID-19 via a series of public service vignettes dubbed "PPE: Pinoy Pandemic Essentials."

More than a year into the pandemic brought about by the novel coronavirus, the Philippines is still facing a tough battle against COVID-19. Just recently, the country reached over 1 million confirmed cases and with this disturbing increase, some Filipinos are still grappling with what to do should they contract the virus and why getting vaccinated is essential.

"PPE: Pinoy Pandemic Essentials" tries to address some of the most basic yet still crucial topics on the coronavirus. Lending his voice in the narrative is award-winning news and public affairs personality Atom Araullo. Each vignette will be aired on GTV and will be available as well on GMA News and Public Affairs' online platforms.

The campaign is divided into six topics that provide practical tips to follow for different COVID-related scenarios. In "May COVID Ba Ako?", tell-tale signs and symptoms of the virus are provided, with a reminder that mild symptoms are still possible signs. It further encourages people to immediately isolate and get tested upon experiencing symptoms, especially during a surge in cases.

Meanwhile, "Close Contact Ba Ako?" gives sample scenarios of a close contact situation. When is one considered a close contact and what are the steps to take once an individual has been identified as such?

"Saan Puwedeng Magpa-Swab?" answers the common inquiry on what to do and where to go when one wants to get a swab test. It also provides various avenues where one can be tested either for free or for a fee.

What if a person gets a negative—then a positive—result within days? "Negative Ba Ako o Positive?" addresses this concern. It explains the concept of the "incubation period" and the importance of knowing this.

One of the most pressing concerns of Filipinos today is the safety of getting the COVID vaccine. In "Dapat Ba Akong Magpabakuna?", the principle behind vaccines is explained. What is a vaccine? How does it work? What are the possible side effects? What should one do after getting the jab?

And finally, "Tayo-Tayo Lang Naman, Diba?" explains the concept of bubbles. Why is it still important to practice social distancing even inside the household? What happens when different household "bubbles" interact?

Information saves lives. "PPE: Pinoy Pandemic Essentials" aims to equip the public with the right information and help in curbing the cases of COVID-19.

Janella Salvador Celebrates Her First Mother’s Day with Metro.Style

For her first Mother's Day, Janella Salvador graced the cover of Metro.Style, and her son Jude joined her in the shoot.

Six months into motherhood, the Kapamilya actress has noticeably grown and matured since she last graced the pages of Metro magazine. Being a mother gave Janella purpose and direction in life, and it allowed her to tap into her "inner strength."

But as a new mom, she knows that she still has a long way to go, and that learning never stops when you're a parent. Thankfully, she has her partner Markus Paterson to go through and overcome the struggles of first-time parenthood with. Janella's mom Jenine Desiderio is always present as well, to guide her along the way.

"Some people tend to think that when you become a mom, of course, you have to have everything perfectly planned out, like everything's under control…," Janella told Metro.Style. "It's really tough to keep it all together, but you have to… It's okay, it's okay to not have it all together. It's okay to struggle, and the mere fact that you're worried about being a good mom means that you're already being a good mom, because you care."

In the cover story, Janella also opened up about dealing with confidence issues after giving birth, but that she's "slowly getting her old self back" by devoting more time for some much-deserved self-care activities.

Shortly after Janella and Markus came out with their baby reveal in January of this year, Metro.Style also had an in-depth interview with her, where she detailed her pregnancy journey, her first three months of motherhood, and the reason for keeping her pregnancy from the public at first.

In that interview, she mentioned, "'Yung biggest realization ko was nakakatuwa na the very thing na akala ng mga tao na ikahihiya ko, it gave me more strength, more confidence. Wala na akong pretensions."

For her Metro.Style cover feature, she was photographed in her home by Seven Barretto, with creative direction and production design by Chookie Cruz. Makeup artist Anthea Bueno, hairstylist Ezekiel Otilla, and stylist Perry Tabora glammed her up for the shoot. Also present during the pictorial was videographer Pat Buenaobra, who captured heartwarming behind-the-scenes clips of Janella and baby Jude. She was interviewed by Metro.Style People section editor Grace Libero-Cruz.

Christian Bables as Mike Hanopol Wins Week 10 of YFSF S3

Christian Bables’ impersonation of Mike Hanopol in Week 10 secured him his first victory in “Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 3” last Sunday (May 9) on Kapamilya Channel and A2Z.

Christian’s intense rendition of Mike’s classic OPM rock song “Laki sa Layaw” earned him 30 points, including the highest votes from jurors Ogie Alcasid, Gary Valenciano, and Sharon Cuneta.

After his breakout performance, the “New Breed Actor” turned emotional as he revealed he had difficulties preparing for the number. “Sobrang gusto ko siyang i-perform ng maayos. During the rehearsals, it felt like my voice was failing me. But, ang galing ni God talaga,” shared Christian.

Nevertheless, Gary called his performance “amazing,” Sharon said it was his “best so far,” while Ogie saw “something magical” in what he did.

As he accepted his trophy and P50,000 cash prize as the 10th weekly winner, Christian thanked the jury and his co-contestants for believing in him.

Bago ko pinaniwalaan ‘yung sarili ko, kayo muna ‘yung naniwala sa akin. Grabe. Sobra. Maraming, maraming salamat po talaga.” With the Grand Showdown approaching and through the guidance of celebrity mentors Jed Madela and Nyoy Volante, all seven remaining celebrity performers turned in jaw-dropping transformations and performances as expected, including Geneva Cruz, who is back in the fold after three weeks.

Still heartbroken from her mother’s passing, the Pop Royalty gave her all in her performance as Toni Braxton, especially as it was her mom that wanted her to return to the competition.

Inaalay ko ito para sa aking Mama kasi siya ‘yung number one fan ko talaga simula nung bata ako. So para sa kanya ‘to and fan siya ng Your Face Sounds Familiar,” Geneva said.

Next week, Geneva will take the stage as Selena, CJ Navato will be John Legend, Lie Reposposa will come out as Sampaguita, and Vivoree Esclito will transform into Miley Cyrus. Completing the lineup are Klarisse de Guzman as Aretha Franklin, iDolls as Ben and Ben and Moira de la Torre, and Christian as Alice Cooper.
