iQiyi Original Korean Series "Jirisan" starring Gianna Jun and Ju Ji-hoon Premieres Saturday, October 23

Jirisan, iQiyi Original Korean drama series starring Gianna Jun and Ju Ji-hoon, and created by director Lee Eung-bok (Descendants of The Sun, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God) and writer Kim Eun-hee (Signal, Kingdom), debuts new stills today (October 21st). Spotlighting the moment Gianna Jun and Ju Ji-hoon first meet, the latter did not even have enough time to change out of his formal wear before scrambling on mission with the park rangers as a rookie. Encountering the neat and capable Gianna Jun, their intertwined destinies set out from that moment on. Jirisan is set to premiere on Oct 23 globally and exclusively on iQiyi, simulcast with Korea.

On Jun and Ju’s on-screen relationship, the production team described them as “aren’t quite colleagues”, “not really senior-junior”, and “toeing the line”. The pair perfectly brings out the amazing chemistry of the lead characters.

In Jirisan, Ju Ji-hoon stars as Kang Hyun-jo, a former army officer out of the military academy, who arrives at Jirisan National Park as a new ranger, but keeps a secret. Asked to describe his role, Ju chose the words ‘Jirisan’, ‘perseverance’ and ‘youngest’. “As the youngest among the park rangers, Kang Hyun-jo likes ‘people’. He came from Seoul to Jirisan because of ‘people’, he possesses greater perseverance and sense of responsibility to help those in need, than others,” Ju shared.

Ju also talked about his meeting the show creatives to chat and shape his character. Believing in immersing in shoot locations to act well, Ju revealed that in the summer before production commenced, he visited Jirisan also in part to help the busy Kim feel rejuvenated. On that trip, they shared many stories from in and out of the production, which turned out to be great help to Ju shaping his role.

Building fans’ anticipation for his latest series return with Jirisan, Ju Ji-hoon said, “In my career to date, this is the role with the most unique character, job and setting. There are many firsts for me and it can be regarded as my ‘brand new look’.”

In addition to Gianna Jun, Ju Ji-hoon, Sung Dong-il, Oh Jung-se and Cho Han-cheul playing rangers of the Jirisan National Park Haedong branch office, Joo Min-kyung and Go Min-si are also core team members. Joo plays Lee Yang-sun, an administrative employee supporting the rangers, while Go Min-si is also a rookie ranger who adds freshness to the team of seven protecting those in need on Jirisan. Jeon Seok-ho is in the role of police officer Kim Eung-soon while Lee Ga-sub plays park volunteer Kim Sol, both of whom work often with the rangers in search and rescue.

Jirisan follows the team of national park rangers who are responsible for search and rescue on Jirisan. Experienced ranger (played by Gianna Jun) and rookie ranger (played by Ju Ji-hoon) are set to unravel the secrets of the peak. The iQiyi Original K-series will exclusively simulcast with Korea from October 23rd,with new episodes airing Saturdays and Sundays at 8.00pm on iQiyi International app or iQ.com worldwide.

KZ Tandingan Collaborates with Grammy Nominated Producers for the Release of First International Song "11:59"

Asia’s Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan takes her music to a whole different level with her soulful delivery and exceptional vocals in “11:59,” her brand new single dropping this Friday (October 22).

Grammy-nominated producer Luigie “Lugo” Gonzales, Paulino Lorenzo, and Idrise Ward-El produced KZ’s first single under Tarsier Records, which is slated for international release as ABS-CBN continues to showcase Filipino talents on the world stage.

It's the realization of a vision. Parang after my ‘X Factor’ 2012 stint, the dream was always to go international, to represent the country on the world stage. And now I get to release this,” KZ shared.

Recounting the moments before she finally recorded the song, she said, “I just wanted to be ready, na alam nila na ‘She did the work.’ Sobra akong kinakabahan kasi it's a new environment, new people, i-add mo pa na I was working with a Grammy-nominated artist so I didn't wanna disappoint him.

The hard-hitting soul track “11:59” takes listeners through a journey of lovers trying to figure out what the next move is in their relationship, where one is seeking answers from the other.

Its music video, directed and conceptualized by Dominic Bekaert of Zoopraxi Studios, will play around the message of the song and visually picture the concept of time through a circular set.

Known for her edgy and authentic sound and style, the “X Factor Philippines” season one grand winner achieved international fame when she joined China’s singing competition “Singer 2018,” where her performances went viral. In 2019, KZ made history anew as the first Filipino to perform a sold-out concert in Dubai World Trade Center Arena.

The Kapamilya singer has had several huge projects under her belt this 2021. She sang the first full Filipino Disney song, “Gabay,” for the film “Raya the Last Dragon” and released the wedding EP “Simula” together with her husband and fellow Filipino artist TJ Monterde. She also interpreted the song “Marupok,” which emerged as Best Song in Himig 11th Edition.

Catch the Epic Adventure Film "Dune" as PH Cinemas Re-opens on November 10

After an eternity of cinema closure, the time has come to experience “Dune” on the big screen the way it’s meant to be seen. Warner Bros. Philippines is happy to announce that the epic adventure will open exclusively in Philippine theaters on Wednesday, November 10.

As director Denis Villenueve (“Blade Runner 2049,” “Arrival”) has said: “`Dune’ has been made, designed, dreamed to be seen on a big screen.”

Watch the “Dune - Big Screen Experience” featurette at https://youtu.be/wn9GLUzEyf4

The Academy Award nominated filmmaker directs Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ “Dune,” the big-screen adaptation of Frank Herbert’s seminal bestseller, considered one of the most influential books of the 20th century and credited with inspiring many of the greatest films of all time.

A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, “Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence - a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential - only those who can conquer their fear will survive.

I discovered the book in my teenage years and I remember being totally fascinated by its poetry, by what it was saying about nature - the true main character of Dune,” Villeneuve relates. “Frank Herbert’s view of nature was absolutely mesmerizing - all those beautiful ecosystems he created. His exploration of the impact and chaos caused by colonialism was a portrait of the 20th century that is still relevant today. And through all of this was a young man struggling with his identity, trying to find his way in the world, as I was doing myself. The way Paul discovers his identity through another culture was, for me, amazing.

Villeneuve’s big screen adaptation fully immerses the audience in this profoundly moving story of Paul’s coming of age set against family rivalries, tribal clashes, social oppression and ecological disaster on the unforgiving, austere planet, creating a fantastical cinematic experience that is both epic and intimate.

When it came to casting the many roles, Villeneuve and the producers assembled an astonishing list of actors to fill the coveted roles, including Timothée Chalamet as our hero, Paul Atreides, alongside Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem, David Bautista and many more.

To my great pleasure, most of my first choices were available and willing to embark on this journey with me,” Villeneuve smiles.

Acclaimed screenwriters Jon Spaihts and Eric Roth, as well as Villeneuve, tackled the daunting adaptation of Herbert’s novel. Spaihts offers, “This was a chance of a lifetime for me. I first read Dune at probably 12 or 13, and at that age I was struck by it almost like scripture; it felt like one of the most profound things that I had read and became one of my annual reads, like The Lord of the Rings.”

I was a fan,” Roth states. “It has all the ingredients that come together to create a wonderful alchemy of storytelling: what happens to planet Arrakis, the father-son and mother-son storylines, the fact that women are very powerful… It seems modern and all of a sudden very pressing, and he wrote it in the `60s.”

To me, ‘Dune’ is a psychological thriller, an adventure, a war movie, a coming-of-age movie. It’s even a love story,” concludes Villeneuve, who at last is able to fulfill his lifelong dream of bringing the landmark work with its complex mythology to life. “There’s a reason the book stayed on my shelf, beside my bed, all those years.

Only in cinemas starting November 10, “Dune” is distributed in the Philippines by Warner Bros. Pictures, a WarnerMedia Company.
