PUREGOLD Celebrates 25th Year with a Campaign #NasaIyoAngPanalo that Puts Spotlight on Filipino ‘Winners’ and Their Success Stories

Puregold rings in its twenty-fifth year in the retail industry with one important goal: to highlight life ‘Panalo Stories’ of its customers - Filipinos across the country

Puregold begins by telling the tales of triumph of six sought-after personalities in the fields of entertainment, music, and sports. The supermarket retail chain announced its partnership with these endorsers through a campaign called “Nasa Iyo ang Panalo”. Featuring videos that reveal the journeys these individuals took to get to where they are right now, it singularly conveys an important message: that all Filipinos can win in life, too.

Vincent Co, President of Puregold Price Club, Inc., says, “Our success would not have been possible without our customers, who have been with us all these years. As we look forward to our 25th year, we aim to show our appreciation through inspiring Panalo Stories, in the hope that Filipinos will see how success is possible for them as well.”

Puregold’s “Nasa Iyo ang Panalo” tells the story of Justin de Dios, popularly known as “Justin,” the sub-vocalist and creative lead of Filipino boy band SB19. A singer, rapper, and actor, Justin once doubted that he could achieve recognition for his musical talent, but with sheer determination, he has become a shining star in Philippine Pop.

May panahong walang gustong makinig sa’kin; mga panahong gusto ko nang sumuko. Pero hindi ako nagpatalo,” he shares in his Puregold video, which has already garnered 3.9 million views to date, a testament to how many people listen to and believe in him now.

A beautiful face with stellar talent, as we have seen in the many teleseryes that she has starred in, Francine Diaz reveals a life that was filled with struggle. In her “Nasa Iyo ang Panalo” video, she gives us a glimpse of how much she has been through. “May mga iniyakan, pero mas marami akong nilabanan. Ang pagpursigi ko, walang cut, dahil alam kong nasa akin ang panalo.”

With her family as Francine’s inspiration, the young breadwinner worked hard to become who she is today - a gifted actress with fans who adore her, as well as projects and endorsements lined up for her to take.

Also featured in Puregold’s “Nasa Iyo ang Panalo” is celebrity couple Luis Manzano and Jessy Mendiola, both big names in the local entertainment industry even before their paths crossed.

In their video, the soon-to-be first-time parents profess how their love is their biggest victory, and how their partnership has led them to believe that they will win every battle they may face. “Hindi mo kailangang maging mag-isa,” the couple discloses. “May kasama kang sasalubong sa kahit anong ibigay ng tadhana.”

Conquering Tiktok, arguably the most popular social media platform of this generation, influencer, actress, and “Reyna Batangueña of the Tiktokverse” Queenay Mercado, also has a success story to share.

Now with over 12 million followers on Tiktok, Queenay, through her videos, took pride in her beginnings, which catapulted her into virality. Still, Queenay remains true to her roots. As she says in her “Nasa Iyo ang Panalo” video, “Isang maliit na boses mula sa malayo . . . ipinagmalaki ko at ipinarating sa buong bansa, at sa ibang parte ng mundo.”

With another inspiring tale of hard work and perseverance, pole vaulter and record- holder EJ Obiena completes the six successful individuals featured in “Nasa Iyo ang Panalo”.

EJ’s grit and determination led him to his status as the highly esteemed athlete he is today. He continues to compete and bring success not just to himself, but also to the Philippines. He says in his video, “Sugod lang hanggang tuktok, dahil kahit anong mangyari, alam kong nasa akin ang panalo.”

Puregold customers and followers of its digital channels can watch for more Panalo Stories from these personalities, and from ordinary Filipinos, as the retailer celebrates its 25th year.

As Vincent affirms, “Puregold is honored to have this opportunity to encourage Filipinos to take hold of their destinies and begin their journeys towards their greatest aspirations. We hope that ‘Nasa Iyo ang Panalo’ communicates a very clear message: ‘Success— Panalo is in each and every one of us’.”

After 3 Years, The Ransom Collective Unveils Vibrant Comeback Song “3 AM”

indie-folk band The Ransom Collective officially reveals their much-anticipated comeback single this 2022 called “3 AM” and it’s their first song release in over three years.

The six-piece band is still the fun and warm musicians their fans used to love. Composed of Kian Ransom (main vocals, guitar), Redd Claudio (drums), Jermaine Choa Peck (percussions, vocals), Leah Halili (bass, vocals), Lily Gonzales (keyboards, vocals), and Muriel Gonzales (violin, vocals), TRC remained solid in spite of being apart for the past few years since some of them decided to stay out of the country.

According to the group, the song is a story that outlines a journey from resistance to acceptance. It touches on the struggles of letting go and the triumph and growth that eventually come out of the process. (OFFICIAL LYRIC VIDEO HERE)

It’s about learning to accept the harsh realities of life with less resistance and benefit from the peace and clarity that comes with it, according to Kian, who happens to be the songwriter of “3 AM.”

Personally, I've struggled with trying to force things into being what I want or hope for them to be, rather than accepting things for what they really are. It's easy to develop tunnel vision and not realize that blind spots are being developed. The more resistant I am, the more entrenched I become, and eventually it blows up. Recently, through a mix of experiences, I became aware of this pattern and am learning to be more honest and vulnerable with myself and others,” he states.

The album artwork design was also their idea and it was made from different artsy paper cut outs.

The band admitted that although it was reworked several times, they enjoyed the whole recording process of this catchy track since they “found a direction they really liked.” In fact, “3 AM” is their “most heavily tracked song yet”, Redd and Jermaine recalled during the quick yet fun IG live midnight salubong for its release. There’s just a lot of elements to hear and feel here.

Anchored by a vigorous vibe plus a feel-good groove, the additional horn section added a whole new spice to the song’s overall sound, of course, with the help of song producers Mikey Amistoso and Marco De Leon.

As for their followers, expect “3 AM” to be just as anthemic as their previous hits. TRC also plans to finally dust themselves off, reunite, and play live shows again in the Metro hopefully next year. “We just wanted to have fun again, just enjoy making music,” Jerms gleefully shares.

“3 AM” is now out on all digital platforms under Mustard Music, a Universal Records Philippines sub-label and is part of New Music Friday Philippines playlist on Spotify for this week.

Stream “3 AM” on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, and other streaming platforms.

6 Months After Launch, KROMA Entertainment Achieves Industry Milestones by its Brands ANIMA, Kroma PubCo, LiveMNL, NYMA, PIE, Paradise Rising and Secret Menu

Just six months after its launch, TraDigital entertainment company KROMA Entertainment, has already made an exceptional mark in the industry with key milestones achieved by its brands: ANIMA, Kroma PubCo, LiveMNL, NYMA, PIE, Paradise Rising and Secret Menu.

At its first in-person event “Kroma Overload” held on October 24, KROMA CEO Ian Monsod and the company's leaders recapped the year’s milestones and breakthroughs. Trade partners and media friends also got their first peek into exciting things to come from KROMA in 2023.

Hosting the event held at the Power Mac Center Spotlight in Makati City were NYMA talents “Mayora” Frances Lim Cabatuando, founder of Home Buddies, the largest Facebook group in the Asia-Pacific region, and its latest travel-themed spinoff Hangout Buddies; and multi-hyphenated multimedia artist and TikToker Raco Ruiz.

The event was opened in style by Asia’s Phoenix Morissette, belting out her viral song “Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw.” Drag Race Philippines Queens Brigiding, Turing, and Corazon closed out the show with their surprise performances that got the crowd erupting in applause and cheers.

In between came the meat of the event, when KROMA brands shared exciting updates.

STORYTELLING ACROSS DIFFERENT LENSES

Director and host of ANIMA Podcast “Kwentong Creatives” Gio Puyat moderated an engaging fireside chat with Bianca Balbuena, head of Studios, Kat Bautista, head of NYMA, Mel Lozano-Alcaraz, head of ANIMA Podcasts and Jil Go, head of the Broadcast and Publishing group.

Conversations centered around how storytelling is central to KROMA, and how it has evolved together with technology and society. For one, the Philippines is ranked 6th among the fastest growing countries in podcast listening, with 31 million monthly listeners. Podcasts have now become a go-to platform for entertainment, a refreshing way to ease people from screen fatigue while still providing quality entertainment.

Content creators and the talents themselves have also become go-to sources of entertainment. Creators provide an authentic take on interests, causes and content close to their hearts through social media. Meanwhile, for tradigital channel PIE, storytelling is done with the audience’s inputs, gathering sentiment or feedback through polls, mood meters or quizzes.

For the Studios business, ANIMA takes on storytelling through the beloved medium of film by continuing to be courageous in bending genres and shedding light on underrepresented stories and characters, taking a new turn, approach, or angle to familiar stories and repackaging them into something fresh. B2B studio Secret Menu also takes on storytelling for its partner brands, serving fresh takes on classic storytelling through short-form video content made for TV commercials, TikToks and more.

ANIMA FILMS EARN ACCOLADES

ANIMA, the trailblazing film studio of KROMA, proudly shared that critically acclaimed “On the Job: The Missing 8,” the first HBO Asia Original series hailing from the Philippines, has been nominated for Best TV Movie or Miniseries in the International Emmy Awards and is the Philippines’ official entry to next year’s Oscars. Add to this its accolades across the international film festival circuit, including John Arcilla taking home the Volpi Cup Best Actor prize at the prestigious Venice Film Festival in 2021.

Other recent ANIMA films “Leonor Will Never Die” and “Kun Maupay Man It Panahon,” have also been making waves in the global film festival scene, with both being awarded jury prizes from this year’s Sundance and Locarno Film Festivals, respectively.

BRINGING FILIPINO MUSIC TO A GLOBAL STAGE

Meanwhile, PARADISE RISING, KROMA’s music label in partnership with 88rising, has been successfully representing Filipino creativity in the global music stage.

Filipino-Australian singer Ylona Garcia brought over 300 million streams across audio and video platforms for her songs including “Entertain Me,” which she herself co-wrote. The track is the official theme song for NEON, the first Filipino agent of Riot Games’ “Valorant.”

Consecutively, Paradise Rising’s “semilucent” compilations have reached the third installment this year, tapping over 20 artists across 19 tracks and counting. Released during Filipino American History Month in October, semilucent 3 celebrates the beauty of the Philippines and its people’s aspirations through quality music that puts Filipinos to the forefront of the youth culture. The 4-track genre-bending compilation album showcases an impressive array of emerging Philippine artists: DACEY - "DON'T WAKE ME UP," Kristina Alcordo - "Senseless," Cabu, "Go Back (feat Gabby Nacua)," and 8rae's "Panalo". semilucent 3 is out now worldwide.

LiveMNL, KROMA’s full service events and activations agency, is bringing America’s biggest Pan Asian music festival, Head in the Clouds, to Manila on December 9 and 10. The 2-day festival at the SM Festival Grounds in Parañaque City promises to bring a memorable experience of music and art to all attendees. The official lineup for Head in The Clouds Manila includes headliners and 88rising superstars Joji, Jackson Wang, NIKI, Rich Brian, very special guest ZEDD and Paradise Rising’s very own Ylona Garcia and Guapdad4000.

MAKING WAVES IN ENTERTAINMENT AND PUBLISHING

NYMA, KROMA’s Talent and Influencer Management agency, has in such a short time signed four talents: Asia’s Phoenix, Morissette; Home Buddies founder and “Budol Queen with a Heart” Frances Cabatuando; multi-hyphenated multimedia artist Raco Ruiz; and Pinoy celebrity and K-content “kween” Kristel Fulgar. NYMA’s bookings business is also booming with over 40+ creators and talents signed.

KROMA’s revolutionary tradigital channel PIE continues to delight and inspire Filipino audiences with its innovative programming. Currently on its second season, PIE’s new programs include classic Pinoy games with an interactive twist “Matching Matching” and “Dagdag Bawas,” and “The Chosen One,” ang kauna-unahang Piliserye ng Bayan starring Kaila Estrada, Jhong Hilario, Melai Cantiveros and former PBB Teens housemates. PIE also added to its roster new PIE Jocks such as TV Patrol entertainment anchor Gretchen Fulido and actor/singer Elmo Magalona.

Meanwhile, Kroma PubCo, the company’s publishing arm, continues to grow its network with partners Unprude, a sexual wellness brand and e-commerce platform; food content creator Lunchboxer PH; professional esports team, TNC Pro MNL; and the gaming news platform and community, PinoyGamer.

WHAT’S NEXT IN 2023

ANIMA also shared its exciting lineup for 2023. “Nego King Philippines,” a local adaptation of the popular Korean series of the same title, will be delighting audiences with host Sam YG’s negotiating skills to lock in a special deal with popular brands. “Nego King” is taking shopping to new heights!

The film studio is also taking on the romantic film genre with upcoming releases “Reset U/I” starring Enchong Dee and Alexa Ilacad, and “Missed Connections” starring Miles Ocampo, Kelvin Miranda, Chie Filomeno and JC Santos. ANIMA is also set to release dark comedy and romance thriller “MARUPOK AF” starring EJ Jallorina, Royce Cabera and Maris Racal next year.

Kroma PubCo also announced that they are launching Complex Philippines in 2023. As one of the most recognizable media brands for youth culture in the US, there is much to look forward to when it comes to content and experiences related to music, sports and sneaker culture.

There is more to come from KROMA and its brands in the coming months. As CEO Ian Monsod committed in his opening remarks, this is just the beginning.

There is so much more to come with KROMA. We are committed as ever to inspire and entertain the world with the best of Filipino creativity, through the most innovative means, to bring Filipino talent to the world stage,” Monsod said.

Expect KROMA to keep forging trailblazing paths in the entertainment industry.

Ian Veneracion Stars in Action Series "One Good Day" to be Streamed in 10 Countries Beginning November 17

At 47 years old and 40 years in showbusiness, Ian Veneracion continuously proves he is one of the most brilliant and established artists the country has ever produced. Started out his impressive showbiz career as a child and teen actor, Ian at some point eventually became a sought-after action star in the ‘90s and early 2000s with movies such as “Zaldong Tisoy,” “Halang Ang Bituka,” “Sgt. Bobby Aguilar: Isa Lang Ang Buhay Mo,” “Ben Balasador: Akin ang Huling Alas,” “Bastardo,” “Armadong Hudas” and “Totoy Hitman,” among many others.

Proving he is more than just that, Ian’s passion for acting flourished even more as he expanded his range from drama, romantic-comedies, horror, and suspense which Filipinos across generations have come to love.

Driven by his unmatched dedication to his craft, Ian without a doubt remains at the prime of his career.

So to celebrate his four decades in the entertainment industry, Ian is all geared up for his much-anticipated return to action via Studio Three-Sixty action series “One Good Day” set to stream November 17 exclusively on Amazon Prime Video with new episodes dropping every Thursdays.

This series will surprise our Filipino viewers in terms of quality. With the recent availability of current technologies; the level of image and sound quality, non-linear storytelling, creative and fast paced fight scenes, that of which, would certainly make us proud to showcase the Filipino talent in the art, and science of film making,” shared Ian.

Shot entirely in the beautiful province of Ilo-Ilo in the Philippines, Ian plays the role of Dale Sta. Maria in "One Good Day". Dale is a strong-willed mobster who left the Rodrigo Organization after finding out that he has a brain tumor and that death is upon him. However, with the death of his loved ones, he is drawn out of retirement and is forced to go on a final mission before calling it a day.

"I play Dale, a former mobster. I was a street kid na tinulungan ni Joel Torre, a gambling lord na dahil sa akin, lumaki ang kanyang Rodrigo Crime Organization at naging very powerful kasi we can help put government officials in office. Dale decided to retire when he is diagnosed with brain tumor. But Joel won’t let him go and convinces him to return as a mobster. At first, he doesn’t want to go back to a life of crime and violence, but when his wife Sandra (played by Rabiya Mateo) is murdered by their rival camp led by Gloria Marquez (Menchu Lauchengco) he was forced to get out of retirement and go on a final mission before having a truly “One Good Day,” Ian said.

The role requires a delicate balance of internal ‘order and chaos’ for any actor. A sensitive man, trapped in the complexity of having to embrace violence, in order to gain the peace and simplicity that ultimately is, his end goal.” he added.

Also revealed that he did all the stunts in the series. No stunt double needed since, "kaya pa. kaya pa, believe it or not." he said. "Sinagasaan ako ng kotse dito, jump over, fire a gun, roll over."

Making this heart-pounding series a reality is notable action director Lester Pimentel Ong – best known for “Panday,” “Lastikman,” “Imortal,” “La Luna Sangre,” “Indio” and “Bagani,” to name a few.

It gives me great pride to be creating action content for the region – something that I feel is critical to grow the industry. I am fortunate to be doing this with Ian, who is not only a brilliant actor, but also a martial artist and an athlete – a true professional who has given Studio Three Sixty his trust,” Direk Lester enthused.

A story about family, love, greed and power in the beautiful dark backdrop of kingmakers in the Philippines.

Joining Ian in the star-studded cast of “One Good Day” are Rabiya Mateo as Sandra, Andrea Torres as Alex Sandoval, Aljur Abrenica as Kyzer Catillo, Justin Cuyugan as Roman Rodrigo, Nicole Cordoves as Anne Rodrigo, Pepe Herrera as Joey Rodrigo, Robert Seña as Atty. Bobby Miclat and Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo as Gloria Marquez.

Also with them in this six-episode series are equally amazing talents Claire Ruiz as Mayor Beatrice Marquez, Louise Abuel as Lucky, Joe Vargas as Agent Renz Cruz, Marela Torre as Agent Kona, Lance Pimentel as Lando, and Pontri Bernardo as Governor Paulo Simon.

"One Good Day" will also be shown in 9 other countries including Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Taiwan, among others.
