Ogie Alcasid Pays Tribute to All Amazing Dads thru a Song Called "Thank You, Pa"

Singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid released his newest self-penned single, “Thank You, Pa,” which he considers “a gift for all amazing dads out there.”

“This is a song that I wrote for my dad just in time for Father’s Day,” said the multi-awarded artist, who wrote the tribute song after the passing of his greatest influence and mentor, his dad Herminio Alcasid Sr., who died last September.

“Thank You, Pa” evokes gratefulness to fathers who believe in their children and encourage them not to be afraid to pursue their dreams. It also expresses a deep longing for dads who are now watching their kids from heaven.

Ogie co-produced the single with ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo. The song was arranged by Bobby Velasco and released under Star Music.

Fresh from the success of his “Kilabotitos: The Repeat” virtual concert with Ian Veneracion, Ogie also released a novelty song early this year entitled “Maga Ako, Manas Ako” featuring his alter egos Eydie Waw and The Wawettes. The OPM icon, who served as a juror in the recently concluded “Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 3,” is also a mainstay on “ASAP Nation ‘To.”

Gloc-9 and Mang Tomas Pay Tribute to ‘GanaDads’ this Father’s Day thru a Song Called “Anong Macho ang Tatay Mo”

Iconic Filipino rapper Gloc-9 collaborated with Mang Tomas All Around Sarsa in a catchy and heartwarming song that pays tribute to the noble characteristics and sacrifices of Filipino dads.

The song, titled "Anong Macho Ang Tatay Mo," will be released on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon Music, and other digital streaming platforms on June 18, while its official music video is scheduled to drop on YouTube and Facebook just in time for Father's Day on Sunday.

The music video is a timely and fitting tribute to all hard-working and dedicated dads out there. It shows Gloc-9 taking off the Mang Tomas' iconic salakot and barong ensemble to slip into a more familiar role as an average dad. Audiences will surely get a kick out of seeing the usually "siga" rapper struggling to balance his household tasks at home - from cooking and doing the laundry, to watering plants and making grocery runs.

Behind the upbeat instrumentals and the humorous visuals of Gloc-9, however, lies a heartfelt and affectionate 'thank you' to every father who are true inspiration to all.

"As a father, I finally understand the challenges of fatherhood and how our efforts tend to go unnoticed," says Gloc-9, a proud dad of three kids - teenage twins and a young girl. "Together with Mang Tomas, I want to say thank you to all fathers, including my own, and remind them that their efforts will always be appreciated. Saludo ako sa lahat ng mga GanaDads!"

Aside from expressing gratitude, the song is a definitive statement by Mang Tomas and Gloc-9: true macho fathers are gentle, kind, and sensitive as opposed to the stereotypes of fathers being rugged, cold, and detached.

"We want to break these notions of masculinity. Kasi 'pag sinabing macho, ang dating is usually tough and brusko," says Gloc-9 "In reality, bahagi ng pagiging tunay na macho ay ang pagiging supportive sa asawa at pagtulong sa mga gawaing bahay."

"We wanted to make a song that reminds fathers that it's okay to be warm, and uplift these notions of masculinity to a more modern Macho Ganado Dads characterization."

Father's Day or not, a Mang Tomas video wouldn't be complete without shots of mouth-watering ulam paired with a bottle of our favorite all-around sarsa.

"Excited na ako for Father's Day kasi sigurado malaki ang handaan with my family," Gloc-9 admits, "I can't wait to celebrate another year of fatherhood with the Mang Tomas! Siguradong mapaparami kami talaga ng kain!"

"Anong Macho Ang Tatay Mo" was written by Aristotle "Gloc-9" Pollisco and arranged by Rassell "Goodson" Tiquia, with mixing and mastering by John Edmel "Goode" Tabuniar, and instrumentation by Samuel Engreso Mopal.

Meanwhile, the official music video was directed by award-winning filmmaker and PR guru Chris Cahilig of Insight 360 with Nic Villanueva as director of photography and editor. It was filmed at the model units of Bria Homes in Magalang, Pampanga.

Actress, host, comedienne, and entrepreneur Pokwang is officially a Kapuso as she signs exclusive contract with GMA-7 and management contract with GMA Artist Center on Friday, June 18.

Also present during the signing are Felipe S. Yalong (Executive Vice President and Chief Operating and Financial Officer), Gigi Santiago-Lara (Senior Assistant Vice President for Alternative Productions), Lilybeth G. During the blogger's conference held after the contract signing, an emotional Pokwang expressed her excitement on the long list of Kapuso TV projects she is scheduled to shoot in the next couple of months. Pokwang mentioned that a she will be part of "Pepito Manalo Prequel," an episode in Magpakailanman, a cooking show, and series TV guestings like All-Out Sundays, Tekla and Boobay Show, are just some of the Kapuso projects she is lined up to do. She is also excited to work again with her bestfriends Ai-Ai delas Alas and Eugene Domingo. 

The award-winning comedienne clarified that she personally informed few of Kapamilya big bosses of her plan to move to Kapuso network including Deo Endrinal.

On the reason why she decided to move to GMA-7, she said, "marami na sila sa kabila. Marami pa akong gustong gawin na siguradong maa-achieve ko dito sa GMA."

Technique 1: Strike a “power pose”

Let’s be realistic, your image is the first thing that will catch another single person’s attention. Make sure your photos are remarkable by using shots that show you in a power pose. Vanessa said that “a recent study found that speed-daters who spread out their limbs and stretched their torsos - literally taking up more space - were 76 percent more likely to get a yes to a date.”

Photos of you with friends having fun may be appealing, but it is even more so if you pose with your mom. In numbers, the chances of finding a match are 7 percent higher, according to a 2018 study by The League, a US-based matchmaking website.

Technique 2: Your profile must show emotional availability

According to Vanessa van Edwards, author of “Captivate: The Science of Succeeding with People” and behavioral investigator and body language expert, “emotional availability is the most attractive trait when it comes to the opposite gender.”

In establishing this on a dating app, make sure to use the words “love” “romance”, and “relationship” on your profile description. They don’t have to refer to romantic longings, the mere use of these words in any sentence sends positive signals to your prospects. You could say, "I love eating, I want to live a life of laughter and romance and I enjoy honest relationships," according to Antonio.

Technique 3: Use the 70:30 rule

You are bound to put off people when you only talk about yourself or you make everything about yourself. Sharing who and what you are looking for in others raises the likelihood of attracting people to your profile.

You might also want to appear professional, so limit or completely avoid the use of emojis because it sends signals that you’re not too serious about the potential connection.

Technique 4: Speed up the process, establish trust

Gaining trust is easier than one might think. The way to do this online is through these hacks: message them often, ask for their advice, and make them laugh.

Asking for advice shows you are giving them a certain level of trust while making them laugh makes them more comfortable with you.

Technique 5: Reliable connection is a must

More Than 40 Artists to Sign a Contract with ABS-CBN in the Star Magic Black Pen Day on June 19

More than 40 artists will sign with ABS-CBN in the Star Magic Black Pen Day this Saturday (June 19) as the company remains committed to hone and champion Filipino talent in support of the local entertainment industry.

The historic contract signing event, which will feature the future and current idols in the land, will begin at 4 pm and will be streamed online on the Star Magic Facebook page and YouTube channel, the ABS-CBN Entertainment and TFC Facebook pages, iWantTFC, and TFC IPTV.

Among the Kapamilyas that will be part of the Star Magic Black Pen Day are fresh faces, established stars, talents from ABS-CBN’s reality shows and contests, as well as artists under ABS-CBN subsidiaries and other talent agencies outside ABS-CBN.

They include seasoned actors include John Arcilla, Sandino Martin, Marc Solis, and singer-actress Angeline Quinto. Rising P-pop girl group BINI begins its new era with a bang as the fan-praised music video for its empowering single “Born to Win” has racked up over over 410,000 views on YouTube, just four days after its release and the group’s official launch.

The video for "Born to Win," an electronic-pop tune where BINI sings about seizing the moment and rising above challenges, has trended on YouTube Philippines since its drop last Friday (June 11). It also racked up over 200,000 views in its first 24 hours.

Fans in and out of the Philippines have applauded the video for its concept, stunning visuals, and members Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena, and who are seen wearing different extravagant outfits against multiple futuristic backgrounds.

Buzz for BINI’s “Born to Win” era has also been building as its live performance on “ASAP Natin ‘To” on Sunday (June 13) breached over 100,000 views in just 24 hours.

BINI introduced their fierce side in their official two-part launch on KTX.ph, which will air on A2Z this Saturday (June 19) at 4:30 PM and on Kapamilya Channel on Sunday (June 20) at 9:45 PM.

In its first part called “The Runway,” the girls donned three different sets of original creations of renowned Filipino designer Francis Libiran.

In “The Showcase,” meanwhile, the BINI girls interacted with fans and treated them to a mini-concert experience, flaunting their sharp and synchronized choreography as they performed their pre-debut song “Da Coconut Nut” before flawlessly transitioning into “Born to Win.”

The girls also showed off their vocal prowess and electrifying dance moves in three separate performances: Gwen and Sheena performed KZ Tandingan’s “Tagu-Taguan,” Colet, Jhoanna, and Maloi belted out Janine Berdin’s “Biyaya,” while Aiah, Stacey, and Mikha impressed with their rap song “World War C,” their original composition about having strength amid the pandemic.

“The Showcase” also let fans in on the personal journey of each BINI member and never-before-seen footage of the girls’ rigorous training sessions under ABS-CBN’s Star Hunt Academy.

Fans of BINI, who are officially called BLOOM, can look forward to more surprises from P-pop’s newest star as the group comes out with the Japanese, Spanish, Thai, and Bahasa versions of “Born to Win” later this year. BINI is also slated to release its full debut album and will headline a joint concert with brother group BGYO.

Jayda Avanzado in Full Bloom for Her First Major Concert this June 26 and 27

Music royalty Jayda vows to be in her full element as a singer-performer in the upcoming "Jayda in Concert" event, happening on June 26 (Saturday) at 8 pm with a re-run the next day, June 27 (Sunday) at 10 am on KTX.ph, iWanTTFC, and TFC IPTV.

"Expect a different side to Jayda and see me hopefully in my full element, the whole 360 of what I have to offer as an artist," she said. "Everything that this show has to offer would be some things you wouldn't expect from me so prepare to be surprised!"

The Star Magic and RISE artist, who just turned 18 last June 1, considers her concert a 'moment' she has been waiting for her whole life. "This has been a dream of mine since I was young to headline my own show. I just feel privileged to be able to do what I love in the midst of all this," she revealed.

Fellow Kapamilya artist KD Estrada and her mom, OPM icon Jessa Zaragoza, will be joining her as special guests.

Jayda, who has always been very involved with her music projects as a songwriter and recently as music video director and producer, revealed that she is working closely with the director, Frank Mamaril, for the concert. "This has been a collaborative process for Direk Frank and me. I'm very involved but at the same time I trust his expertise in bringing our vision to life," she said.

Reports have it that Park Seo Joon is currently in talks to join the cast of Marvel Cinematic Universe film "Captain Marvel 2: The Marvels" and he is scheduled to leave for the United States in the second half of this year after completing filming for "Concrete Utopia," which he is currently working on.

"The Marvels" is scheduled to be released in North America on November 11, 2022.

Vice Ganda Treats Janitors and Cleaners with Huge Cash Incentives in “Everybody, Sing!”

A Vice Ganda dressed as the late Princess Diana quickly became the People’s Princess after she gave away P50,000 as additional cash prize to the group of janitors and cleaners who joined the songbayanan in “Everybody, Sing!” on Saturday (June 12).

Although they failed to get all the right answers in the jackpot round, they were still winners after the Phenomenal Box-Office Star announced that she’ll add P50,000 to their cash prize of P30,000.

“‘Yung P30,000 na napanalunan, dadagdagan ko ng P50,000. Regalo ko na sa inyo ‘yan,” she said.

Vice also thanked the songbayanan janitors for their sacrifice and hard work to keep surroundings clean and safe. “Happy ako na nakilala ko kayo, nasilayan, at naka-chikahan ko kayo ngayong araw na ito. Thank you very much!”

She added, “Nakasalalay sa inyo ang kaligtasan at kalusugan namin lalong lalo na ngayon.”

Meanwhile on Sunday (July 13), delivery riders took home P30,000 in the jackpot round after getting six out ten correct song titles.

Among those who joined were riders that became the talk of the town on social media. Marvin Ignacio was involved in the viral ‘lugaw’ incident, while Jeffrey was photographed eating a cancelled order of a customer in the corner of a fast food’s drive-thru.

Jeffrey shared that after his photo became viral, a lot of people gave him financial support, but he decided to share his blessings to others.
