Lady Luck is on Kiray Celis’ Side

Lady Luck is on Kiray Celis’ Side

With a top-rating series and three movies for this year, it may be the best year so far for Kiray Celis who may already be considered as one of the most famous comedy teen stars we have today. But this funny young girl didn’t rise up to the top easily.

Kiray was first discovered when she stepped onto the stage of then noontime show Magandang Tanghali Bayan via the Munting Miss U contest at the age of 4. Her fame grew as she was chosen as one of the casts of the sketch comedy show, Goin’ Bulilit. She also makes special appearances on ASAP, It’s Showtime, and many more.

Because of her persistence and determination, she was casted in a supporting role in three movies this 2012: The Mommy Returns, Born to Love You, and Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme. She also gets praises for her role as Whitney Muñoz in the hit teen comedy series “LUV U”.

Even if she only gets supporting roles in shows, Kiray remains positive. “My road manager told me not to be sad if I only get support roles,” she shared. “The leads will not be as effective if they don’t have us.

Meanwhile on “LUV U”, the whole barkada is supposed to hang out in a tea house but the three girls didn’t make it. Because of their absence, the boys will accidentally meet new girls who are studying in another school – Trina, Mikylla and Hope. Instead of introducing the new found friends, the boys will keep this as their little secret.

What will happen to the “LUV U” barkada once the girls find out? Catch this hit teen series, “LUV U”, this Sunday after ASAP 2012 on ABS-CBN.

Party Pilipinas Presents ‘BELIEVE’ this Sunday

Party Pilipinas Presents ‘BELIEVE’ this Sunday

Faith and conviction in one’s talent and dream, that is the loud battle cry of the country’s number one concert party on television with Party Pilipinas “Believe.”

This Sunday, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid returns to Party Pilipinas’ performance stage.

In celebration of Father’s Day, “PP All Stars” honors them with performances by Ogie Alcasid, Regine, Janno Gibbs, Kyla, Jolina Magdangal, Rachelle Ann Go, Mark Bautista, Solenn Heussaff, and Jennylyn Mercado.

Father’s day celebration continues with a special number with the cast of “My Daddy Dearest” featuring Ogie, this time with Jolina Magdangal, Milkah Wynne Nacion, and Kyle Ocampo.

Belief in the youth will be tackled by “Dance Duets” as it takes a graceful turn to address teen issues, headlined by controversial love triangle Mark Herras, Ynna Asistio, and Kris Bernal. And for more exciting grooves, “Sayaw Pilipinas” will move to the best RNB and Hip hop hits of the 90s with the cast of GMA Afternoon Prime’s latest offering, “Faithfully” with cast members Maxene Magalona, Michelle Madrigal, Isabel Oli, Isabelle Daza, and Vaness Del Moral.

Expect more youth power with GirlSquad as they put their girl power game on with Heir of Rap Elmo Magalona. And the spirit of rap music lives on as “Rap Acoustic” features the hits of Gloc9 with performances by the rap icon himself.

Believe in the power of women, and surrender to their charm, Carla Abellana will take you to that level as she celebrates her birthday. Watch out also for Solenn as she will surely sizzle with her own brand of sexy music. More women domination courtesy of tandems ShinKy (aka Rachelle Ann Go and Kyla), JulieFrench (aka Julie Anne San Jose and Frencheska Farr) and La Diva for the much-awaited comeback of Viva La Diva.

Experience young love, and be entertained by super tandem JuliElmo (aka Julie Anne and Elmo) just in time for the launch of their new show “Together Forever”.

Party Pilipinas “Believe” airs this Sunday, June 17, only on GMA.

Master Ryan Cayabyab Lauds the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra

Master Ryan Cayabyab Lauds the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra

The ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra is the newest, most exciting addition to the top artists of the Kapamilya Network.

It is comprised of arguably the best crossover musicians of the country who can perform all types and genres of music, led by a formidable music director, Gerard Salonga. Rehearsing this afternoon was a breeze. The rare event on Saturday combines only the best Filipino artists together in the concert, with the best musicians of the ABS-CBN Philharmonic. What more can I ask for as Musical Director? Ang ganda at ang sarap ng tugtugan.”

These are the words of music genius Master Ryan Cayabyab after the rehearsals at the Dolphy Theater at the ABS-CBN compound in preparation for the “Icons at the Arena,” a concert that brings together the best of OPM music icons on June 16 at SM Mall of Asia Arena. The concert is going to be the first major public performance of the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra.

Early this year, ABS-CBN and First Philippine Holdings joined hands to promote an advocacy for Filipinos to connect and experience “real” and “good” music. Thus, the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra was created to defy the notion that a full orchestra is only limited to classical music. The 40-piece musical ensemble, is a first in the history of the Kapamilya Network.

ABS-CBN chairman Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III stressed that it aims to provide music of the highest caliber to the general audience. ABS-CBN President, Charo Santos-Concio, on the other hand had expressed her full support for the orchestra and her optimism that this will be a significant platform to celebrate the character and soul of Filipino music.

ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra’s executive director Mickey Munoz also stated, “Our new “Kapamilya” shall also service the performance and music needs of ABS-CBN such as the concert series, as well as the musical scoring on cinemas as well as live and stage performances.” He added that ABS-CBN is taking music seriously, sharing that Youth Orchestra is also being formed to train indigent but talented young Pinoys to play musical instruments and entice them to turn their attention from game consoles to music and culture.

The curtain unfurls as the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra dominates the Pinoy music scene. For inquiries and bookings, please contact The Executive Director, ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra at 415.2272 local 2326.

Richard Gutierrez Climbs the Mountains of Kalinga in 'Pinoy Adventures'

Richard Gutierrez Climbs the Mountains of Kalinga in 'Pinoy Adventures'

Pinoy Adventures” will feature the ecotourism discovery destination of the north, Kalinga.

As a former housemate who had once lived through social tension inside the closely monitored house, Kim will impart lessons and encouragement to the current housemates as well as bring positive influence to them.

Tina Monzon-Palma Examines DEPED’s Home Study Program in ‘Krusada’

Tina Monzon-Palma Examines DEPED’s Home Study Program in ‘Krusada’

Broadcast journalist Tina Monzon-Palma will assess Department of Education’s home study program that aims to ease overcrowding of students in public school classrooms this Thursday (June 14) in “Krusada.”

Under the program, students don’t have to go to school everyday. Instead they learn their lessons at home using modules based on the regular curriculum and meet with teachers only on weekends.

While the program is expected to decongest classrooms, legislators such as Rep. Raymond Palatino are strongly opposing the program as it allegedly results in ineffective study habits.

How can the government solve overcrowding and lack of decent classrooms in public schools? Is the home study program just another band-aid solution to one of Philippine education’s perennial problems?

Because it takes more than words to take a stand on Philippine education, watch “Krusada” with Tina this Thursday (June 14) after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN or watch it earlier on DZMM TeleRadyo (SkyCable Channel 26), 9:15 p.m.
