Erik Matti Announces First Collaboration with Netflix with ‘BuyBust: The Undesirables’, Starring Anne Curtis and Gerald Anderson

The first look at the expanded world of BuyBust: The Undesirables was unveiled today at JAFF Creative Asia 2025 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Acclaimed Filipino director Erik Matti, together with Indonesia’s Joko Anwar, took center stage at today’s Creator-to-Creator session to spotlight Netflix’s continued commitment to investing in original content for the region’s library and exploring the brand’s role in the ever-evolving opportunities available to creatives across the region.

The filmmakers’ session served as the perfect platform to announce Netflix’s first collaboration with Matti, whose creative direction and meticulous character exploration in BuyBust: The Undesirables make the project one to watch out for. The clip offered a glimpse into the depth of Matti’s world-building and reintroduced viewers to several returning characters from the 2018 film, including Anne Curtis and the addition of Gerald Anderson, alongside a slate of new characters and an even bolder narrative that pushes the original story to new heights.

During his panel at JAFF, Matti shared that shortly after the film’s release in 2018, they partnered with Netflix Philippines to expand the original Buybust universe through a 9-episode series set to be released sometime in 2026. When asked about the expanded universe of BuyBust on Netflix and what it will focus on, he said “We moved on from the drug war story and we made it about rich and poor — the powerful and the powerless. We wanted to talk about the Philippines as a country and whether it was impossible to ‘clean it up’ without going political. We are focusing on real characters and the real conflicts of each of them.”

BuyBust: The Undesirables is poised to underscore not only Netflix’s ongoing commitment to expanding its repository of robust original Southeast Asian titles, but also the brand’s dedication to elevating the most compelling and distinctive creative voices in the region.

BuyBust: The Undesirables is coming to Netflix in 2026.

The Itchyworms and Victor Anastacio to perform at One Big Feast: The 2025 Ateneo de Manila Grand Alumni Homecoming

The Ateneo Blue Eagles are flying back to their nest for One Big Feast: The 2025 Ateneo de Manila University Grand Alumni Homecoming, on December 6, 2025, at the Ateneo Junior High School Covered Courts.

Hosted by this year’s Silver Jubilarians, the Ateneo High School Class of 2000, the event will honor the past, plant seeds for a bright future, and aspire to elevate One Big Fight to a global stage.

This year’s Homecoming will gather Ateneans as they honor and support the event’s beneficiaries, foremost among them the teachers whose guidance, presence, passion, and patience have shaped the growth, development, and achievements of countless Ateneans.

In recognition of their dedication and lasting impact, a portion of the proceeds will bolster the Teachers’ Retirement Fund. More than 40 active and retired faculty members are expected to attend the festivities to reconnect with their former students and mentees.

We wanted to express our heartfelt appreciation to our teachers who, like our parents and families, believed in us, guided us, and made countless sacrifices to help shape who we are today,” Tristan Timbol, Co-Chair of the 2025 Homecoming Committee, said.

We are who we are because of them and the lessons they imparted. Through this donation, we hope to convey our deep gratitude, especially to the many teachers who dedicated their lives to forming and educating young people,” Timbol added.

The event will also support the AAA Order of the Blue Eagles Scholars, ensuring that deserving students continue to receive opportunities for a transformative Ateneo education. By empowering them to pursue their dreams, the Ateneo community helps shape individuals who can make meaningful contributions to society and become leaders who help build a brighter and stronger future for the country.

We were blessed with the opportunity to receive an Ateneo education, and we appreciate even more now how it has shaped our careers, our communities, and our families. Because of this, it became important for us to help extend the same opportunity to deserving students. Just as the Ateneo opened doors for us after graduation, we hope to open doors for others—to learn, to grow, and to thrive within the Ateneo framework,” Don Umali, Co-Chair, shared.

Finally, a portion of the proceeds will likewise support the Ateneo Track and Field Team as part of efforts to elevate homegrown talent to a global stage and champion excellence in athletics — not only locally but in international competitions such as the Southeast Asian Games, the Olympics, and other global tournaments.

A big theme that emerged among our batch as we began organizing the year-long Homecoming activities was the desire to give back to the community and to the people who supported us during our years in Ateneo,” Chef Ed Bugia, also a Co-Chair, explained.

We spent half of our lives in Ateneo, and a central part of our formation was becoming men for others. In fact, our batch was among the first to experience the community immersion programs in high school. Because of this, it was important to us to create a lasting impact when selecting our beneficiaries for the year,” Bugia described.

Aside from the meaningful causes it supports, the Homecoming also promises One Big Fun, giving attendees a chance to celebrate, reconnect, and reminisce with fellow Ateneans through an evening filled with good food courtesy of Manam and Moment Catering, and excellent drinks and hydration, including soda, juices, beers, and select spirits.

Providing additional excitement and energy to the event are comedian Victor Anastacio and the ever-versatile, popular hosts PJ Lanot and Mica Pineda.

Fun and lively performances, including a comedy set by Victor, smooth DJ sets, and a headline performance by The Itchyworms, also await Ateneans.

To top it all off, Ateneans can look forward to exciting raffle prizes ranging from hotel stays at Aruga by Rockwell Hotel Makati, Astoria Current Boracay, Astoria Palawan, Astoria Plaza Ortigas, Fili Hotel NUSTAR Cebu, Grand Hyatt Manila, Green Sun Hotel Makati, to assorted items which include Kodak Document Scanners, Human Nature gift baskets, Havaianas flip-flops, Nike gym bags, a Casio G Shock watch, all the way to a Kawasaki motorcycle and many more — ensuring surprises and laughs throughout the night.

One Big Feast will start with the honoring of heroes at 3:00 PM, followed by a Eucharistic Celebration at the Church of the Gesu at 3:30 PM. After the Mass, there will be a short Marian Procession going to the High School grounds.

Gates for the Homecoming will open at 5:30 PM, and the program will start at 6:30 PM, providing Ateneans with the opportunity to bond with former teachers, expand their network with fellow alumni, and engage with sponsors and beneficiaries.

The eventful night is made possible through the support of PLDT, Smart Communications, Filinvest Land Inc., Rockwell Land, Moment Catering, San Miguel Corporation, and Astoria Hotels and Resorts.

The Silver Jubilarians also partnered with Bay Marine Subic, Uy Coronel, and Villamor Law Offices, Nissan, Alveo Land, Globe Telecom, Jollibee, Red Ribbon, Infinity One Globaltech Inc., A+ Premium Tech Depot, Casio Watch Outlet, Nike Factory Store, Tubig Pilipinas Inc., SMDC, Shell Pilipinas, AGITechnik.ai, Jesus Christ Supporters, ECR Card Marketing, Ovialand Inc., Phinma Prism Property Dev't Corp., Phinma Properties Sales and Marketing Inc., BYD Carmona – Puremotion Inc., Union Trading Croporation, Lion Ready Mix Concrete Inc., Vorel Inc., Isuzu, Kohler, Kservico Trade Inc., and GCash.

The AHS Batch 2000 also organized various fundraising events throughout the year, including a golf tournament (One Big Flight), a movie screening (One Big Film Screening), an art auction-exhibit featuring their homegrown artists (Origins Beyond Form), and the sale of merchandise such as shirts (One Blue Folo Shirt and a Linya Linya collaboration) and golf umbrellas (One Big Fayong).

This blend of fellowship, nostalgia, entertainment, and generosity makes the event more than just a homecoming but a celebration of the essence of being an Atenean.

Premiere Condoms Sets Guinness World Record on World AIDS Day

Thousands gathered at the UP Sunken Garden on World AIDS Day as PREMIERE Condoms, in partnership with Watsons, successfully achieved a Guinness World Records title for the Largest Condom Donation in One Hour during its Protected & Proud event.

The record-breaking attempt was officially confirmed onstage by a Guinness World Records adjudicator as packets of donated condoms were tallied and verified before a cheering crowd.

As the official adjudicator, my job here today was to measure, to officiate, and to judge. The record to beat was 2,500 condoms. Together with our auditing staff, we counted a total of 13,312 condoms making a new Guinness World Records. Congratulations, you are Officially Amazing,” said Justin Patterson, adjudicator of the Guinness World Records.

The event aimed to promote safe sex awareness and HIV prevention at a time when HIV cases in the country are rising, with all donated condoms set to benefit UP Babaylan, the country’s longest-running LGBTQIA+ student organization. The Department of Health reported 5,583 HIV cases in the third quarter of this year, a 22 percent increase from the same period in 2024, according to the Philippine HIV and AIDS Surveillance System. Of the new cases, 895 patients, or 16 percent, were already at the advanced stage at diagnosis. Daily average cases also rose from 50 last year to 61 this year.

This historic moment strengthens our mission of educating young Filipinos on HIV prevention and protection. It shows what’s possible when organizations and communities work together,” said Drei Ledesma, Punong Babaylan of UP Babaylan.

The successful attempt reflected the growing public support for open conversations on sexual health.

Our partnership with Watsons and UP Babaylan is a reflection of DKT Health’s commitment to community-focused action. For us, sexual wellness goes beyond the product; it means actively supporting organizations on the ground who are fighting HIV stigma, providing essentials like condoms, and driving important education and awareness initiatives. We're all for normalizing conversations on sexual wellness and protection among young people, as well as making essentials like condoms easily accessible. This is about building confidence in our choices – being both protected and proud,” said Denise van Dijk, President and CEO, DKT Health, Inc.

The night also featured performances by Drag Race Philippines Season 3 winner Maxie Andreison and OPM singer Maki, drawing thousands of attendees to the advocacy- driven concert. Both were very delighted to be part of an event that brought music and awareness together.

By the end of the program, organizers declared the event a success both in attendance and in its message to encourage safer sex practices and continued HIV education efforts.

PREMIERE Condoms was born for a new generation of Filipinos – one that embraces pleasure, exploration, and confidence. Launched by DKT Health, Inc., it redefined what a condom brand could be: bold, elevated, and built on pleasure as much as protection.

Today, PREMIERE Condoms stands for intimacy without compromise. Because pleasure deserves to feel premium.

PREMIERE Condoms is available in a full range of variants: Dotted, Ultra Thin, Cool Watermelon, Air, Nice & Tight, Cruise Control, Glow, and Earthquake.

Spotify Tatak Pinoy Live on TV5’s Vibe has named pop-alternative rock band Over October as its first fan-voted headliner, bringing together streaming culture and primetime television to elevate Filipino artists onto a bigger stage. Selected through votes on the Vibe with Tatak Pinoy playlist, the band’s win highlights how Tatak Pinoy Live empowers fans to champion the artists they love.

The first cycle featured three nominated tracks from the Tatak Pinoy playlist on Spotify reflecting the vibrance and diversity of today’s Pinoy music scene: “Dahan” by Over October, “Sulyap” by Arthur Miguel and “BLACK N’ WHITE” by Dilaw. Over October ultimately secured the top spot and took the Tatak Pinoy Live Stage on the November 23 Vibe broadcast, bringing their music to a stage co-curated with Spotify and shaped by fan support.

For fans, the moment was just as special. Select Octobears who voted for “Dahan” enjoyed exclusive access to the Spotify Premium Fan Lounge, where they met the band and spent time with fellow fans before the show. Puregold Breaks New Ground in Experiential Retail with the Overwhelming Successful of Its First Hakot Relay Run

Puregold recently transformed a fun Filipino activity into a large-scale community engagement platform with the launch of the Puregold Hakot Relay Run at Burnham Green Park in Luneta.

Held on November 22, the event prompted a strong turnout with participants numbering in the thousands, demonstrating the retailer’s continued focus on community-building initiatives that are aligned with its long-term brand and customer growth strategy.

Blending fitness, entertainment, and Puregold’s iconic “hakot” experience, the three- kilometer relay introduced an innovative twist to the traditional fun run format. Teams of three joined the race not for speed but for strategy, competing in a hakot segment wherein runners grabbed grocery items and filled their sling bags before tagging the next team member. The ensuing scenario was a vibrant and adrenaline-filled activity that brought families, barkadas, and communities together in a uniquely Puregold way.

Puregold also staged a Sunset Concert at the venue, where OPM and P-Pop performers such as KAIA, G22, Press Hit Play, and the duo BREKA (Brent Manalo and Mika Salamanca) filled the park with live music and turned the relay into an afternoon celebration for families and fans alike.

All participating runners were winners as they took home a Puregold Hakot Relay Finisher’s Medal, an official race singlet, and a grocery sling bag, made exclusively for this inaugural event.

The Puregold Hakot Relay Run is reflective of the company’s broader goal to uplift Filipino communities and celebrate everyday wins.

Puregold President Vincent Co, who led the first wave of runners, said, “Wins come in many forms. This is a new one for us, as Puregold tries to create moments where families, friends, and communities can connect. This Hakot Relay Run gave us a chance to do exactly that.

The tremendous success of Puregold’s first-of-its-kind relay affirms the potential of more creative, community-driven initiatives to strengthen brand affinity while deepening customer loyalty.

BINI Explores Different Forms of Love in New Album “Flames”

BINI embraces themes of love, youth, and self-discovery in the new album “Flames,” released just in time for the nation's girl group's highly anticipated “BINIfied” concert at the Philippine Arena this November 29 (Saturday).

The new album was inspired by a Filipino love acronym “FLAMES” that symbolizes different relationships. BINI reintroduced this acronym with the group's own unique meaning through its seven tracks, “First Luv,” “Sweet Tooth,” “Paruparo,” “Infinity,” “Katabi,” “Bikini,” and “Shagidi.”

“Sweet Tooth” is a dreamy slow-burn pop track that likens irresistible desire to sugar—sweet, addictive, and impossible to get enough of.

Dedicated to Filipinos working and living abroad, “Katabi” reflects the deep longing for someone far away while holding on to the comfort of their love.

“Infinity” celebrates a friendship built to last, shaped by both joyful memories and challenging moments, which was composed by ABS-CBN Music artists Jeremy G and WRIVE members Russu and Ishiro.

“Paruparo” celebrates self-discovery and the freedom that comes with embracing growth and transformation, like a butterfly learning to spread its wings.

With “First Luv” and “Shagidi” released earlier this year and “Paruparo” dropping just two weeks ago, the album had already reached a combined 17 million Spotify streams even before its full release.

The new album comes after BINI’s back-to-back win at 38th Awit Awards where they won People’s Voice Favorite Group Artist, People’s Favorite Album of the Year for “Talaarawan,” Best Dance/Electronic Recording for “Salamin, Salamin,” and Vibe Stan Award for their Blooms. They also bagged huge wins at Breaktudo Awards 2025 for International Women Group and International Collaboration of the Year for “Blink Twice (Dos Veces Remix).”

Tracks from their “Flames” album will be performed at their upcoming “BINIfied” concert at the Philippine Arena on Nov. 29. VIP seated, lower box B premium, and upper box A tickets have sold out, while VIP standing (P14,999), lower box regular A (P7,499), lower box B regular (P4,499), upper box B (P1,999), and gen ad (P849) are still available via Ticketnet and Pulp Tickets.

Just Tap and Go When You Link Your Maya Credit Card to Google Pay

Filipinos practically run their entire lives on their phones — checking group chats, booking rides, and juggling a dozen errands in between. But even with everything going digital, paying with your phone can still slow you down – especially with QR codes. Scanning with your phone, waiting for SMS confirmation, or having cashiers take screenshots and double-check a QR payment? Suddenly, your quick stop turns into a waiting game.

Maya, the #1 Digital Bank in the Philippines, is changing that. As one of the first banks in the country to enable Google Pay for credit cards, Maya is putting next-generation payments directly in your hands. Yup, Android users can now tap and go by simply adding their Maya Credit Card to Google Wallet. Even better? Tap to Pay via the Maya app is coming soon, making paying faster and easier than ever.

Why Tap to Pay Just Makes Sense

Life moves fast—commuting, grabbing coffee, running errands between meetings. And through all of that, your phone is always in your hand. So, it only makes sense for paying to keep up.

All SM Malls Unite for Cebu: A Nationwide Call to Hope and Empowerment

In the aftermath of Typhoon Tino, SM Supermalls, through SM Foundation and SM Cares, has launched a nationwide campaign titled “All SM Malls Unite for Cebu,” mobilizing support and solidarity to uplift communities affected by the disaster.

With the campaign’s message, “HOPE calls for an empowered community,” SM invites Filipinos across the country to extend compassion and generosity—uniting to bring grace, hope, and strength to those in need.

Lighting the Way for Cebu

The initiative was launched during the SM City Cebu Christmas display kickoff on November 13, themed “Unwrapping the Gift of Grace and Hope.” At exactly 6 PM, all SM malls nationwide illuminated their displays in GREEN—a powerful symbol of hope, unity, and the Filipino spirit of bayanihan.

This season, we are reminded that the true gift of Christmas lies in giving,” said Steven T. Tan, President of SM Supermalls. “Through this campaign, we aim to bring light, hope, and solidarity to Cebu and its people, who continue to show courage and resilience amid challenges.”

As part of the ceremony, SM City Cebu also honored the courageous first responders who served as beacons of hope during the recent earthquake and typhoon. In gratitude for their unwavering service, the mall turned over 200 Bundles of Hope to representatives from the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CCDRRMO), BFP Mabolo, PNP Mabolo, and Barangay Mabolo BRRMO and Welfare Workers. The gesture recognized the compassion, courage, and commitment of the responders who stood at the frontlines to help communities rise again.

Real Acts of Compassion

Beyond the event and the symbolic lighting, SM also turned compassion into action through a series of relief and recovery initiatives:

  • 8,000 Kalinga Packs donated through Operation Tulong Express (OPTE) for affected families, including SM employees.
  • Cash donation booths deployed across all SM malls nationwide, providing shoppers with easy access to contribute directly to relief operations.
  • SM Mobile Clinic deployed to affected communities to deliver essential health services and medical outreach.

These efforts are coordinated with local government units, partner organizations, and volunteers, reflecting SM’s continued commitment to community resilience and long-term empowerment.

Gift of Grace, Gift of Hope

As part of SM’s corporate social responsibility mission, SM Foundation and SM Cares reaffirm their dedication to sustainable community support and proactive disaster response.

Through ‘All SM Malls Unite for Cebu,’ we are not only extending immediate aid, but also building stronger, more resilient communities that can rise above adversity,” said Tan.

The campaign serves as a reminder that every act of kindness—no matter how small—can help illuminate Cebu’s path to recovery.
