GMA Network Wins Top Honors at the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption Awards
Leading television station GMA Network won a total of seven accolades, including two Hall of Fame citations, at the VACC (Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption) Awards held last Friday, August 2, at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
This year, GMA Channel 7 was inducted to the organization’s Hall of Fame for winning the Outstanding Television Station award for several years. Similarly, DZBB 594 khz, the Network’s flagship radio station, was also recognized as a Hall of Fame awardee for the Outstanding Radio Station category.
GMA News anchor Jiggy Manicad was named Outstanding Television Anchor for his work on GMA News TV’s late afternoon newscast Quick Response Team. Likewise, senior reporter John Consulta bested several others for the Outstanding Television News Reporter award.
Sharing the Special Award for the Television Host category were GMA News pillars Jessica Soho and Mike Enriquez. Their respective programs, Soho’s primetime newscast State of the Nation on GMA News TV and Enriquez’ hard-hitting investigative program Imbestigador on GMA-7, were also cited for the Television Program category. DZBB's senior reporter Rowena Salvacion, in turn, was given a special award under the Radio Reporter category.
Celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, the VACC is an organization committed to eradicating criminality and corruption in the country.
