Anne Curtis, Pia Wurtzbach, and Aga Muhlach Share Why They Love Chickenjoy in a Special Jollibee FB Talk Show

Three Filipino icons talking about one of the ultimate symbols of Filipino pride around the world, and why they love it - that's exactly what happened on this special talk show produced by Jollibee, Our Joy and Pride: A Chickenjoy Special.

Household names and Chickenjoy ambassadors Anne Curtis, Pia Wurtzbach, and Aga Muhlach - each representing the Chickenjoy's Joy of Famous Taste, Joy of Pride, and the Joy of Family through the years - got together on the talk show, presented by host Karla Aguas, last September 10 on Facebook Live. They shared fondly about their love for that Crispylicious and Juicylicious fried chicken that's both beloved in the Philippines and undoubtedly made waves around the world.

On the talk show, the three spoke at length about their memories and experiences involving the Chickenjoy, such as Anne's showbiz discovery at a Jollibee store in Metro Manila, Pia getting nicknamed "Jollibee" by her peers at Miss Universe because of her love of Chickenjoy, and Aga being a huge part of the Jollibee family for 30 years, among many other stories they told.

"I think ever since I tasted Chickenjoy as a kid, it was a done deal, it became the best-ever fried chicken for me. Crispylicious, Juicylicious, nothing could compare to it," said Anne.

"I've had birthday parties as a kid sa Jollibee and I just have so many memories of it. Sa pagkabata ko pa lang, even sa Miss Universe, hindi ako nahohomesick kasi palagi kaming dumadaan doon sa Jollibee sa New York," said Pia.

"I feel so privileged, really. I have been with Jollibee for the last 30 years, and to be an endorser of the number one product in the Philippines, and soon to be number one product in the world. Isipin mo binata pa lang ako when I did my first endorsement for Jollibee, hanggang sa nag-asawa na ako, nagkaroon ng mga anak, we're still here. I'm happy and grateful that my wife and kids are part of the Jollibee family," said Aga.

Viewers of the talk show also had fun watching the three tell their stories, and many definitely got a craving for some Chickenjoy. You too can watch Our Joy and Pride: A Chickenjoy Special on Facebook.

Insight Music Launches Singer-Composer Jelry and His Song “Rosas”, Releases ‘Mood Playlist’ Albums

Innovative Filipino record label Insight Music rocks the music circuit with new standout releases that sonically paint life and love with every color of the emotional spectrum - from the kilig, to the erotic, to the inspired.

Highlighting the collection is singer-songwriter Jelry's debut single titled "Rosas," a catchy pop acoustic ballad with bouncy, sweet sounds.

Young listeners enthralled by their first loves will surely relate to "Rosas," which draws upon Jelry's personal encounter with the subject. The joy and innocence of young romance is encapsulated in the song's lyrics and melody, sending the power of "kilig" surging through every note.

"'Rosas' conjures up a scene from my JS prom back in high school," says Jerly of the song. "I remember feeling nervous when I asked my prom date to dance. She wore this bright pink gown and while we were dancing, the lights also started to turn red and pink. I simply savored that moment."

Jelry's music debut has been a long time coming. The young man (whose real name is John Lloyd Reyes) first learned to play the guitar with just two chords that his father taught him. This sparked an interest that inspired Jelry to hone his craft through online platforms, soaking up everything he could about music theory, production, and songwriting. Finally, Jelry took a brave step and began writing his own music, which led to his first-ever record deal with Insight Music.

"I can't wait to share 'Rosas' with everyone," Jelry now enthuses. "They will certainly enjoy listening and dancing to it. And if you are looking for a song that will make you feel good, this is it!"

With his debut single "Rosas," Jelry finally realizes a dream that brings him a step closer to the realm of the musical legends that have influenced him through the years. Talents like IVOS, Rex Orange County, Ed Sheeran, and Rivermaya have all helped shape Jelry's love for music. He hopes that as his career evolves, he can muster the same passion and emotion his icons evoke in every song.

"Trying to emulate these gifted artists felt like learning a new language," Jelry muses. For him, however, the reward is worth all his efforts. "I now get to express my feelings and emotions through music, which is a tough feat in real life."

But Insight Music's string of new releases ventures beyond the subject of love. To probe the nuances and shades of what makes life colorful and complex, Insight is spinning off its 'mood playlist' - a genre of music that sets one's emotions or mindset in a particular state or condition.

To this end, Insight Music is primed to release three new mood playlist albums: “Sexy Time: Make Out Music,” “My Study Companion,” and “Burn: The Workout Playlist”.

These themed playlists were crafted to get individuals ‘in the zone’. “Sexy Time: Make Out Music” is for intimate nights and steamy sessions under the covers; “My Study Companion” comes handy when cramming for the finals, doing school research, and writing the thesis; and “Burn: The Workout Album” serves to drive health buffs towards the level of fitness they desire.

For Insight Music president and chief creative head, Chris Cahilig, these albums represent a shift in the trend for what record labels can be.

What sets music apart from any art form is the way a simple series of notes can cue us to feel,” says Cahilig. “The art form is so visceral in the way it captures our collective and individual imaginations. So we figured that if people seek these things - motivation, passion, intimacy - through music, let’s just cut to the chase and give people what they want.”

The albums, all composed by renowned producer Ian Joseph Tan, are the first of their kind in the Philippines. Along with Jelry’s “Rosas,” the albums reflect the pioneering vision Insight Music has for Original Pilipino Music.

We want to push music forward by bringing it back to its roots, which means getting talented artists and dropping music that connects instantly” says Cahilig. “And with talent as youthful and brilliant as Jelry, and these mood albums made for every Filipino, we know OPM can be elevated to a whole new level.

“Rosas” by Jelry, Sexy Time: Make Out Music, My Study Companion, and Burn: The Workout Album are all available for streaming on various global streaming platforms, including YouTube Music, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, Tiktok, and iTunes.

Avail of HBO GO via SKY for Only P99 and Watch Philippines Original Crime Series “On The Job” Starting September 12

Intense action and drama shake up home viewing as the HBO Asia Original series from the Philippines, "On the Job," starring Joel Torre, Gerald Anderson, Joey Marquez, Piolo Pascual, John Arcilla, Dennis Trillo, and Christopher de Leon, begins streaming September 12 (Sunday) on HBO GO via SKY.

The six-part crime thriller from highly acclaimed veteran filmmaker Erik Matti brings to life stories of corruption and violence in today's society inspired by true events with prisoners Tatang (Joel Torre) and Daniel (Gerald Anderson) carrying out dangerous missions to assassinate high-profile political figures, ordered by mysterious crime syndicates. But the law enforcement is on their tail with cop sergeant Joaquin (Joey Marquez) and bureau agent Francis (Piolo Pascual) tracking them down to put an end to these brutal killings.

Meanwhile, the series will also tackle another real-world predicament in today's media as journalists Sisoy (John Arcilla) and Arnel (Christopher de Leon) try to seek the truth of fake news and how easily truth can be manufactured and disseminated to the public in today's age of information. When eight individuals, all linked to a newspaper, disappear one day, another hired killer on the loose, inmate Roman (Dennis Trillo), holds vital evidence to this dark incident.

Its director Erik Matti urged people to see the six-part series even if they have seen its original film version.

"I still urge you to go and see the series because it has a totally different flavor to it. It's the same story but it was designed as a series, which is episodic. And the kind of excitement it gives in every episode, it's different. It hits differently and that we are really proud of," Matti, who is currently in Italy for this year's Venice Film Festival, said during the virtual press conference for the movie.

The newest six-episode HBO Asia Original crime thriller series to premiere on HBO GO is a combination of Erik Matti's masterpiece of the same name, which screened as a film at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival with never-before-seen episodes. It is in competition at the prestigious 78th Venice Film Festival as "On the Job: The Missing 8."

PBB Ex-Housemates Share Tips on How to Perfect Your #A10AngPBB Kumu Audition

The worldwide search for the next batch of housemates for "Pinoy Big Brother Kumunity Season 10" has officially started on the Pinoy community platform, Kumu.

Once again, thousands of aspiring housemates are expected to try their luck as they aim to fulfill their dream and change the lives of their family and community.

Planning to give "PBB" a shot? If you are 20 to 40 years old, you can audition for this season's adult edition from September 1 until September 30. Audition for the Teen Edition (15 to 19 years old), meanwhile will be from December 1 to 31.

Here to help you in your "PBB" journey are "PBB" ex-housemates from different seasons, who recently shared tips on how to nail your Kumu audition.

The very first "PBB" Big Winner said that a sure-fire way to nail the auditions is to be true to one's self.

Magpakatotoo sa sarili is one the values that is always highlighted inside the "PBB" house and is also the same trait that will lead you to becoming an official housemate.

"Be authentic, be true to yourself and always give your best," said "Kumander Nene" during the "PBB Kumunity Season 10" Party last August 27 on Kumu.

There's no room for pretenders in "PBB," according to Nene's batchmates, Say and "PBB Season 1" Third Big Placer, Cass. They said that one's true character will surely show in the reality TV program.

"PBB Celebrity Edition 1" Big Winner Keanna Reeves echoed their statement saying, there's really no point in trying to be someone you're not just to impress the panel. The best thing to do is to present yourself as you are.

In the words of "PBB All In" alumnus Fifth Solomon, "'wag mo pilitin 'yung parang magda-drama ka. Ipakita mo kung sino ka 'pag mag-isa ka."

Twins Joj and Jai from "PBB Teen Edition 4" know that "PBB" auditions are always a blockbuster. They said to stand out from the crowd, avoid playing it safe. Show what you're capable of and put the spotlight on your uniqueness in the short span of time you're given.

"Ipakita mo kung ano'ng kaya mo. Kung ano 'yung kakaiba sa 'yo. 'Wag safe kasi baka hindi mapansin," said the ladies from Bacolod.

Leave your insecurities at the door, says "PBB: 737" 4th Big Placer, Dawn Chang. Instead of being embarrassed about your quirks, embrace them because it makes you unique. "Unahin niyo weirdest stuff about you, mga nakakahiya at nakakatawa."

"PBB Celebrity Edition 2" housemate Baron Geisler agreed saying, "Hindi naman judgmental si Kuya. Mas gusto niya 'yung mga taong makulay, may karakter."

For "PBB Otso" Big Winner Yamyam Gucong and "PBB Lucky 7" housemate Nikko Natividad, it's more important to share your different interests and be natural because "PBB" looks for personality and character than looks.

"Be natural sa video mo. May hinahanap si Big Brother na uniqueness mo," said YamYam. While Nikko said, "'Wag niyo na lagyan ng filter. Mas magfocus kayo sa ano ang ugali niyo, sa'n kayo interesado."

When you think you've done everything right, it's time to offer it up to the Most High. That is the advice of "PBB Connect" Big Winner, Liofer Pinatacan. As a spiritual guy, Liofer shared that it's all up to Him if being a housemate is in your cards.

"Prayer lang din talaga. Kung para sa 'yo, para sa 'yo yan. Ipakita mo kung ano 'yung napakagandang kwento ng buhay mo," said Liofer.

"PBB Otso" finalist Fumiya Sankai has a simple advice. Don't overthink your audition and just focus on how you can make your personality shine. "Don't think too much. Just be yourself," he said.

Now that you've learned from the ex-housemates, it's time to put the lessons into action and start reaching for your dream. Again, to audition, just download the Kumu app, create an account, and upload a one minute kumu clip introducing yourself and share why you deserve to become a housemate. Don't forget to use the hashtag #PBBKumuAdults for the Adult Edition and #PBBKumuTeens for the Teen Edition.

Kai Sotto Shares His Thoughts on Resiliency, Overcoming Career Obstacles, and Key to Success

Aside from physical skills and talent, the game of basketball and challenges in life are also won through the mental aspect. Here's where resilience comes to crucial play - a pivotal element to have on your side when it comes to grinding out wins on and off the court, says Filipino basketball phenom Kai Sotto.

"Believe in yourself, just put the work in. Sa basketball court, 'di ka dapat maggi-give up agad-agad. Same din sa buhay," said Sotto in a video interview for Smart Double Giga Stories.

At a young age, Sotto has overcome various career obstacles and challenges to be where he is now: A key component of the Gilas Pilipinas Men's National Team and soon to play for the Adelaide 36ers of the Australian National Basketball League.

"As time goes on, nag-i-improve ka eh. 'Yung mga makakalaban mo, 'yung expectations, 'yung makakaharap mo, 'yung challenges, magiging mas tough pa," he continues.

The 7-foot-3 center managed to find his place in an international basketball career by believing in himself and through the support of his family and friends.

"Para sa akin, may mga times na maraming magda-doubt sayo. Walang maniniwala sayo kundi sarili mo lang, and family mo," Sotto says.

He especially places a premium on the love and belief of his family. "Talagang family is a big word, probably the biggest word sa vocabulary ko."

Lastly, Sotto believes that failure is a key component to success. Without it, one would not learn important lessons that would eventually help them succeed.

"Wag matakot mag-fail, kasi magiging part 'yan ng journey mo, kung paano ka magiging mas mabuti at mas magaling," he advises.

Here's the link to Kai's latest video in collaboration with Smart Prepaid:

Share your stories of resilience
