TV5's ‘The Million Peso Money Drop’ Continues to Provide Life Changing Experience to Filipinos

TV5's ‘The Million Peso Money Drop’ Continues to Provide Life Changing Experience to Filipinos

TV5’s The Million Peso Money Drop continues to change Filipinos’ lives with its unique blend of excitement and suspense in each hour-long episode. Only half-way through its maiden season in the Philippines, the show has become a fast favorite among viewers - with more and more people live-tweeting the show on Sunday nights.

The show’s distinct format is designed to keep everyone on their toes - from the contestants and the audience to the viewers at home and host Vic Sotto. To date, only two pairs of contestants have emerged victorious from The Million Peso Money Drop and both agree that being on the show has done wonders for their relationships.

Andrew and Ging Domingo took home PhP150,000 from the show - a sizeable addition to their savings to take their daughter to Hong Kong Disneyland next year. Fiancées Rema Mallillin and Jeremy Casaul also conquered The Drop and can now work on their dream wedding with their PhP100,000 take-home prize. Both pairs said they were tested while playing for The Million Peso Money Drop’s grand prize.

On the other hand, certified Bossing of All Game Shows Vic Sotto is optimistic that more contestants will win big on The Million Peso Money Drop. “Gusto namin talagang magbago ang buhay nga mga sumasali sa show. Biruin mo - umpisa pa lang ng show, milyonaryo na sila (contestants). So nasa kanila na ang lahat. Kapag naglalaro though, diskarte na nila kung paano iuuwi yung one million pesos,” Sotto said. “Masaya kami na maganda ang tinatakbo ng show and tinatangkilik kami ng viewers,” he added.

Join Bossing Vic as he guides more contestants in their quest to bring home one million pesos on The Million Peso Money Drop every Sunday at 8:30PM. GMA-7 Tops 2012 NUTAM Ratings

GMA-7 Tops 2012 NUTAM Ratings

Broadcast giant GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) is set for a strong finish this 2012 as it continues to lead rival networks in nationwide television ratings, according to partial year data from the industry’s widely recognized ratings supplier Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

For the period January to November 2012 (November 25 to 30 based on overnight data), GMA recorded an average total day (6 AM to 12 MN) household audience share of 34.6 percent in National Urban Philippines or NUTAM; up 3.1 points from ABS-CBN’s 31.5 percent, and up 19.6 points from TV5′s 15 percent.

GMA also scored impressive total day ratings in the viewer-rich areas of Mega Manila and Urban Luzon, where it led competition by double digits.

In Urban Luzon, which makes up 77 percent of the total urban television households in the country, GMA delivered a solid 38.4 percent total day average; 11 points higher than ABS-CBN’s 27.4 percent, and 23.9 points higher than TV5′s 14.5 percent.

GMA also came ahead of other stations in its bailiwick Mega Manila, which makes up 59.5 percent of all urban television households nationwide, with a commanding total day average of 39.4 percent. GMA was remarkably ahead of ABS-CBN’s 25.8 percent by 13.6 points, and of TV5′s 15.1 percent by 24.3 points.

During the 11-month period, GMA was also ahead of ABS-CBN and TV5 in the morning (6 AM to 12 MN) and afternoon (12 MN to 6 PM) blocks across NUTAM, Urban Luzon, and Mega Manila.

In November, GMA programs dominated the lists of top-rating programs across NUTAM, Urban Luzon, and Mega Manila. Multi-awarded news magazine program Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho emerged as the number one program in Mega Manila scoring a 24.8 percent average household rating.

Other Kapuso shows that occupied the top slots in the lists are 24 Oras, Kapuso Movie Night Pinoy Flicks, Aso ni San Roque, Kap’s Amazing Stories, Coffee Prince, Eat Bulaga, and Pepito Manaloto, among others.

GMA subscribes to Nielsen TV Audience Measurement along with 22 other paying subscribers including another local major television network (TV5), Faulkner Media, CBN Asia, 15 advertising agencies, and 4 regional clients.

In Mega Manila, Nielsen has a sample size of 1,190 homes versus Kantar Media’s 770 homes. Nationwide, Nielsen has a sample size of 2,000 homes compared to the lower sample size of 1,370 utilized by Kantar Media.

TV5 Launches New Media Platforms

TV5 Launches New Media Platforms

Speaking at the launch of TV5’s new media and digital publishing properties, President and CEO Atty. Ray C. Espinosa shares the “story of convergence” of all TV5 platforms parallel with the direction of its parent company PLDT, “Our story is one of convergence. One of how different mediums like TV, mobile, radio, and print interact with one another which results in a richer experience for our users and our advertisers.”

The lines between TV, radio, print, online, and mobile are not just blurring, they are disappearing completely. The challenge for networks today is to embrace that change and to create content that seamlessly flows from one platform to the other which opens up a completely new way of telling stories,” Atty. Espinosa continued.

Here are TV5′s digital platforms:

InterAksyon.com

Less than two years after TV5 launched InterAksyon.com, the online news portal has since become the fastest growing news portal in the Philippines; landing at the top five leading news portals in the country. The site closed the month of October with over 1.5 million unique visitors and 12.5 million page views. Its content is also available not just online but also through your mobile phones via the InterAksyon iOS and Android applications.

InterAKTV

For sports TV5 has InterAKTV, the leading online sports portal in the country with over 9.4 million page views just in October alone. Pursuant to its convergence strategy, SPORTS5 launched the PBA on AKTV app on Google Play eight weeks ago, in cooperation with Smart and PBA. This is the first local second screen app in the Philippines which lets you get real time updates like game highlights, scores, player stats, and match-up alerts. In just 8 weeks the app has been downloaded more than 40,000 times and it has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars on the Google Play store.

Kristn.com

TV5 launches Kristn.com, an ambitious digital lifestyle portal that will push the limits and boundaries of traditional digital publishing. Kristn is not just a website. Kristn represents TV5’s vision of what New Media is all about. It has a groundbreaking design and web user interface, a complex review and recommendation algorithm, expert and celebrity reviews, and light but highly informative and entertaining articles. All of that will be present across different platforms: TV, Online, and Mobile. Since Kristn.com went on open beta last October 10, it has already amassed over 700,000 page views.

Balut Radio

TV5 also announces a new digital offering called Balut Radio, which will be launched early next year. Balut Radio is the first streaming radio service where you will be able to select songs to share on social media. This project represents TV5’s strong advocacy and love for OPM and it envisions Balut Radio to become the global OPM hub.
