Is Maxene Magalona the newest Anne Curtis?
Despite being lambasted by Netizens due to her off-key performance on “Party Pilipinas,” Maxene Magalona just made light of the criticisms and even thanked her haters.
“I’m still proud na kahit nagkamali ako, I still went on with the show. ‘Yun ‘yung importante, that I had fun. Na hindi ‘ko tinigil and at the same time I accepted that I’m not perfect. No one’s perfect,” she said in a taped interview on “24 Oras” aired on Jan. 30.
The incident happened in the Jan. 29 episode of the GMA-7 show where a well-dressed Maxene came out together with her brother Frank Magalona and performed the Eraserheads original “Pare Ko.” And that’s where all hell broke loose as she sang some of her verse parts off-key.
For that song number, she landed on the ninth spot of the top trending topics locally over on Twitter.
Maxene explained that what happened was an isolated case and that such mistakes usually happen during live shows.
“Kasi dati pa naman akong kumakanta paminsan minsan sa ‘Party P’ but I never said I was a singer,” she quipped in the interview.
Despite all the criticisms hurled at her by haters, Maxene underscored that she wasn’t irked by them.
“Kung makalait kayo, KAYO NA ANG PERFECT! I AM ME. Keber sa inyong lahat! #peacebewithyou :)” she posted on her Twitter account (@maxenemagalona).
She added, “Thanks for all the comments! Good or bad. Y'all made me trend! Hahaha! :) #IAMPP”
Meanwhile, some of the actress' fans rallied to their idol's side and urged her not to mind the negative comments. Interestingly, aside from her fans, “Concert Sweetheart” Anne Curtis, who’s been known for her own off-key singing, empathized with Maxene via Twitter (@anncurtissmith).
The “AnneBisyosa: No Other Concert” performer posted, “Girl Ok lang ‘yan! Isang piyok lang ‘yan. Wala namang perfect! Ako nga buong kanta off key, pero Care!! Gusto ‘ko kumanta, ‘eh!”
To which Maxene responded with a jest, “Huhuhu thanks girl! Lahat ng tao, grabe! Pumiyok lang ako ginagaya na agad si Concert Sweetheart? Eksaherada!!! Mwah! :)”
Nevertheless, Maxene deems that her performance made her realize how she’s come to “really embrace her imperfections and flaws.”
The TV host-actress proudly owned up to her mistake and blurted, “Kaya nagpapa-interview ‘rin ako kasi hindi ‘ko ito tataguan. Talagang ilalabas at ilalabas ‘ko ito. Opo, pumiyok ako. Pumiyok po ako on national television at lahat po ng tao ay pwedeng magkamali. ‘Yun lang po.”
