Viu Original Offers a Fresh, Endearing Filipino Spin to the K-Drama Craze with Latest Series Called ‘K-Love’

Always looking to deliver content from Asia that resonates with Asian audiences, Viu, PCCW's pan- regional OTT video streaming service, announced the premier of K-Love, the latest Viu Original title from the Philippines.

Starring Iza Calzado, Jake Cuenca, Isabelle Daza, Sue Ramirez, and Gabby Padilla, this series is a homage to fans of K-Drama, a dedication to all who have cried and laughed along with each episode.

Mr Vinchi Sy-Quia, Assistant General Manager of Viu Philippines, shared how Viu aims to bring forth top-tier local talent to the global centerstage, "We are thrilled to start the quarter with a story that will undoubtedly touch Viu-ers' hearts. K-Love, a Viu Original from the Philippines, is a testament yet again to our pursuit of working with the best, contributing to the Filipino creative ecosystem by producing endearing stories with high standards."

The award-winning team behind K-Love includes director Bobby Yan, a seven-time Emmy-award winner, and creator Corinna Vistan, who previously worked at Marvel Studios as a Content Producer for theatrical releases and lent her expertise to record-setting blockbusters such as Avengers: Endgame and Ant-Man and the Wasp. During her nine-year tenure at Marvel Studios, she crafted creative content strategies and produced content such as short films, documentaries, music videos, featurettes, trailers, and interactive experiences for 19 of the 29 Marvel films released between 2010-2019.

Corinna shared that K-Love is the first concept she pitched when she became Head of Content Development for Viu Philippines, "I came home from the US thinking all my friends were going to ask me about my experience working on Avengers Endgame, but all they could talk about was their fascination with Korean dramas! I realised that similarly, K-Dramas had their own set of hardcore die-hard fans. This world really interested me so I wrote the concept for K-Love."

Mirroring these fans, K-Love centres on five friends and their stories: Tish, Jay, Shiela, Val, and Frances. One thing drives all of them despite leading various lives and facing various challenges – their love for K-drama. There is something about that moment, when they are engrossed in K-drama land and staring at the screen, that takes them out of the everyday tedium and makes them realise that their life may be just as interesting. They will learn how tightly connected and influenced by the world of K-drama their journeys are as they face the challenges of life, foster friendships, and experience "kilig" moments.

Aside from the characters, the team's dynamics behind the scenes makes K-Love even more interesting.

Follow the K-squad for those "100% relate!" moments and feeling that only K-drama fans will understand. Don't miss the premiere of this series streaming on 14 October with brand new episodes every Friday exclusively on Viu and simulcast in 16 markets across Asia, the Middle East and South Africa.

Darren Espanto Covers Shawn Mendez “Top of the World” for “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile”

Columbia Pictures has just unveiled the video of Asia’s Pop Heartthrob Darren Espanto covering Shawn Mendes' Top of the World from Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile. The video is a collaboration with UMUSIC PH to celebrate the release of the movie and the original motion picture soundtrack featuring Shawn Mendes.

Top of the World is one of the original songs from the musical comedy with Mendes as the singing voice of Lyle, the croc with a heart of gold.

Espanto said he “had so much fun” shooting the video and invited fans to sing along, and go on top of the world too.

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is now showing in cinemas across the Philippines.

Check out the video below and avail of the original motion picture soundtrack now, also featuring the track “Heartbeat.”

Based on the best-selling book series by Bernard Waber, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is a live-action / CGI musical comedy that brings this beloved character to a new, global audience.

When the Primm family (Constance Wu, Scoot McNairy, Winslow Fegley) moves to New York City, their young son Josh struggles to adapt to his new school and new friends. All of that changes when he discovers Lyle - a singing crocodile (Shawn Mendes) living in the attic of his new home. The two become fast friends, but when Lyle’s existence is threatened, the Primm’s must band together with Lyle’s charismatic owner, Hector P. Valenti (Javier Bardem), to show the world that family can come from the most unexpected places and there’s nothing wrong with a big singing crocodile with an even bigger personality.

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile features original songs performed by Shawn Mendes and written by the songwriting team behind The Greatest Showman, Benj Pasek & Justin Paul.

Lyle’s solo ballad, Top of the World, was written by Pasek, Paul and Joriah Kwamé. In the scene where the song was featured, Lyle shows Josh the wonders of New York City. “Even though Lyle has to sneak out in the middle of the night, because the world is afraid of him, he finds refuge on the top of a theater,” says Paul.

Suddenly, with Josh, Lyle has someone to experience everything that magical city has to offer – including how to eat at the best restaurants in New York for free (a trick taught to him by Hector P. Valenti). “He’s just taught Josh how to dumpster dive, they’re walking through the city, and music pours up through the grate from a Broadway show downstairs,” says Pasek. “It’s Lyle’s favorite song, and he can’t wait to share it with Josh and celebrate this moment of finding someone to share his life with.

There is a certain magic and comfort to nightlife in New York City, especially as an artist,” says Kwamé. “It was an absolute treat to put ourselves in the mind and heart of Lyle, who at this moment on that Broadway theater roof, knows that he belongs. I hope the song gives hope to people worldwide who are still looking for that safe space,” he concludes.

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.

SKYBIZ Equips Employers to Grow their Business and Empower Employees in the Digital Age

With the different industries slowly opening up after being upended by the pandemic, business owners are now re-calibrating for immediate strategies to achieve their long-term organizational goals.

SKYBIZ, the business solutions arm of SKY Cable Corporation, rolls out some important tips and solutions that will help employers grow both their business and their employee’s morale in this post-lockdown era.

Encourage a favorable set-up

The remote set-up became the new standard in most businesses, employees are able to go on with their daily tasks while working in the comfort of their homes, connecting with their peers purely online. Now that a lot of industries have gone back to their pre-Covid set-up and with the hybrid work arrangement gaining popularity, business owners should allow for more flexibility for employees to get their work done either at home or in the office.

A comfortable working environment is crucial for employees' productivity, performance, and job satisfaction. Whether you are working from home or back to the office, the physical space where work is done should be conducive for every employee to excel daily.

Engage professional and personal growth

A well-balanced life is something that both employers and employees should strive for. Businesses will continue to grow if their people also grow, hence, it’s important to make the workplace a safe place where employees can unleash their maximum potential professionally and personally.

Most companies have incorporated different activities and practices that can boost the morale of their employees. A shared activity outside the workplace like a Monday morning reflection over coffee or a Friday night sports fest will strengthen the working relationship within the company allowing employees to feel more at ease and closer with their peers.

Invest in tools that empower

With most of the work transactions and meet-ups done digitally, businesses should invest in a reliable service provider and solutions tools that will empower them to grow their business in this digital age.

SKYBIZ is extending its BizTastic BunDeals with its Biz Broadband Connect and BizFiber Connect plans that include reliable business-grade internet connection for SMEs suited for their day-to-day activities, bundled with a three-month Microsoft 365 and a voucher from ABS-CBN Dash or Grab.

On the other hand, for large scale businesses looking for high-speed true fiber internet connection to help with their operations, Biz Fiber Direct is the perfect deal that offers a high-speed internet modem as low as 30mpbs also bundled with the same BizTastic perks.

SKYBIZ also continues to offer its BizBB DoubleUp for current subscribers that automatically doubles their speed at no extra cost, with its 100 Mbps plan now running at 200 Mbps with personalized account management and 24/7 technical support for the same price of only P2,299.

Shawn Mendes Lends Voice to "Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile," Showing in Philippine Cinemas Starting October 12

Shawn Mendes, superstar recording artist and Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter, brings Lyle, the singing crocodile to vocal life, in Columbia Pictures’ new musical comedy Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile (in Philippine cinemas October 12).

Watch the vignette “Voicing Lyle” at

Based on the best-selling book series by Bernard Waber, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is a live-action / CGI musical comedy that brings this beloved character to a new, global audience.

Mendes describes Lyle as a character driven by love. “He just wants to have a family, a home, and feel connected to people,” says Mendes, “and love is the reason I sing, too – I sing when I feel comfortable, when I feel accepted. I relate to him a lot.

Hearing your own voice come out of an animated character is such a weird experience,” Mendes continues. “It can be a bit of an out-of-body experience to hear your voice coming out of a crocodile, he adds, but what he wasn’t expecting was how much the animators would capture of Mendes himself. “While I was singing in the studio, the animators were filming my facial expressions, and then animating Lyle to make similar facial expressions that I was making.”

The film features original songs performed by Shawn Mendes, Javier Bardem, and Constance Wu, written by the songwriting team behind The Greatest Showman, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

For Mendes, singing the work of Pasek and Paul brought to the fore the way that gifted songwriters can make the songs of a musical work a dual purpose, building on each other as part of a cohesive whole and also providing a discrete, joyful experience. “When you watch one of their movies or shows, you’re digesting the entire thing at once, and you may not realize just how smart they are,” says Mendes. “You don’t realize how complex and how beautiful these songs are, how lyrically astonishing they are, and how much effort they put into them. But when you’re in the recording studio, going through the songs, it’s an eye-opening experience,” he concludes.

About Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile

When the Primm family (Constance Wu, Scoot McNairy, Winslow Fegley) moves to New York City, their young son Josh struggles to adapt to his new school and new friends. All of that changes when he discovers Lyle - a singing crocodile (Shawn Mendes) who loves baths, caviar and great music-living in the attic of his new home. The two become fast friends, but when Lyle’s existence is threatened by evil neighbor Mr. Grumps (Brett Gelman), the Primm’s must band together with Lyle’s charismatic owner, Hector P. Valenti (Javier Bardem), to show the world that family can come from the most unexpected places and there’s nothing wrong with a big singing crocodile with an even bigger personality.

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile will feature original songs performed by Shawn Mendes and written by the songwriting team behind The Greatest Showman, Benj Pasek & Justin Paul. Joining Pasek and Paul in writing original songs for the film are Ari Afsar, Emily Gardner Xu Hall, Mark Sonnenblick, and Joriah Kwamé. Directed and produced by Will Speck and Josh Gordon, the screenplay is by Will Davies.

In cinemas across the Philippines starting October 12, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.

Only One Will Survive in “Halloween Ends,” Showing Exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas Starting October 12

After 44 years, the most acclaimed, revered horror franchise in film history reaches its epic, terrifying conclusion in “Halloween Ends” – an Ayala Malls Cinemas exclusive starting October 12.

“Halloween Ends” brings back Jamie Lee Curtis in her iconic role as Laurie Strode as she faces off for the last time against the embodiment of evil, Michael Myers, in an unprecedented confrontation never before seen on-screen. Over more than four decades, the Halloween franchise and Jamie Lee Curtis’s character Laurie Strode have reshaped and redefined the horror genre forever. The record-breaking relaunch of the franchise that began with 2018’s Halloween and continued with 2021’s Halloween Kills now reaches its jaw-dropping conclusion with a film that is unlike any Halloween film.

In this unexpected final chapter, set four years after the events of last year’s Halloween Kills, Laurie is living with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) and is finishing writing her memoir. Michael Myers hasn’t been seen since. Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life. But when a young man, Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell; The Hardy Boys, Virgin River), is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can’t control, once and for all.

This story begins with a babysitter and a child on Halloween night that goes terribly wrong,” Curtis says. The opening sequence is a sly inversion of the premise of the 1978 film, where a babysitter, not a child, is a killer’s target. “That sequence is so crazy intense, beautifully shot and visually put together that, just on its own, I think it could have been an Oscar®-nominated short film,” Curtis says.

Only one of them survives this fight to the death., So as Curtis and James Jude Courtney, who plays Michael Myers (aka The Shape) prepared for their final scene, their history together, both as characters and actors, the weight of the moment became overwhelming. “When Jamie and I had our big finale, I pulled her aside and asked her to walk me through the beats,” Courtney says. “As she did, both of us just started going deep into this emotional place together. Then we had tears coming down our cheeks. This was what was happening between the characters, but it’s also what was happening to us while we acted it.

It’s particularly meaningful that Laurie Strode has become a symbol of female strength, resilience and endurance worldwide, and that the success of this character and these films have helped pave the way for a new generation of strong, layered female film characters, not just in the horror genre, but industry wide. “The legacy of Laurie Strode is directly attributed to the late Debra Hill, (co-writer of the original “Halloween”),” Curtis says. “The gentle soul of Laurie and that fierce warrior spirit are the legacy of Debra. As a feminist, she’d be very proud of how women are represented, how Laurie has evolved as a character - with the deep emotionality, incredible bravery and physical prowess she demonstrates in this trilogy. I know that she’d be incredibly proud of her contributions, which are forever.”

Watch “Halloween Ends” exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas starting October 12 – Glorietta 4, Greenbelt 3, Alabang Town Center, Market Market, TriNoma, Ayala Malls Manila Bay, U.P. Town Center, Ayala Malls The 30th, Fairview Terraces, Bonifacio High Street, Ayala Malls Vertis North, Ayala Malls Circuit, Ayala Malls Cloverleaf, Ayala Malls Feliz in Metro Manila; and Marquee in Pampanga, Harbor Point in Subic Bay, Ayala Malls Solenad in Laguna, Centrio Mall in Cagayan de Oro, Ayala Center Cebu, Ayala Malls Legazpi, Ayala Malls Capitol Central in Bacolod
