BJ Pascual Shares What He Loves About the New Samsung Galaxy S23 Series

Many people use their mobile phones to capture the important moments in life – be it travel adventures, family gatherings or even a night out with friends. It’s these precious milestones that call for an equally impressive phone with camera features to record epic memories – such as those that come with the new Samsung Galaxy S23 Series.

Launched at the Epic House party held at The Fifth Rockwell, the Galaxy S23 Series comes with some truly stunning innovations when it comes to photography and videography. Just ask renowned fashion and lifestyle photographer BJ Pascual, who took guests on a tour of the Epic Nightography room, which featured the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s incredible camera features such as the enhanced Nightography mode and the 200-megapixel camera.

As a long-time Samsung Galaxy user, BJ mentioned that he has always loved the phone and was curious how they will be able to top the last one. But upon trying the Galaxy S23 series, he was amazed by how Samsung was able to pack all the amazing features in such a slim package.

BJ was particularly impressed with the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 200-megapixel camera. “As photographers, we love data, and that’s a lot of data, and it has more megapixels than my work camera. It’s so crazy! I’m actually excited to try it at an actual photoshoot,” he said.

The Galaxy S23 series also features an enhanced Nightography setting that allows you to take pictures in any lighting condition, be it at a neon-lit nightclub or at a camping trip under the stars.

That’s another area the camera improves so much. The Super HDR of the Night Photography is insane, and I think, this is their best yet. It would be helpful especially for those people who like to go out at night and not a lot of places have good lighting, so the HDR really helps with tricky lighting situations, so everything looks great,” shared BJ.

With Super HDR, the smartphone is able to balance the brightness of a photo so it does not appear too dark or too light that its details get lost. With the enhanced Nightography feature in the Galaxy S23 Series, photos appear vivid and crisp, even at night.

The Galaxy S23 Series also allows you to be a true photo master. Combined with the enhanced Nightography feature, the smartphone also has an Expert RAW app that allows you to control the light and the shadows within the photo you took. “When you shoot raw photos, you kind of have a lot of control over the [pictures]. It’s kind of like a film. When you take photos with film, there’s room for you to brighten it or darken it, as long as it’s exposed. The Expert RAW app makes you the master of the HDR,” BJ explained.

From the 200-megapixels, to its Nightography and Expert RAW app features, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Series makes taking epic photos easier than ever, anytime, and anywhere.

BJ also shared some key tips to make your photos more epic than ever. If you’re doing an Outfit-of-the- Day photo look for you social media posts, BJ advises that “if you want to look taller, frame the photos with the face near the middle of the frame and the feet near the bottom of the frame, so you can get more space on top and then you crop it after. The distortion of the wide lens makes your legs look longer.

If you’re taking a selfie, BJ recommends that “the best selfie is actually finding your light, so whether it be like natural or artificial light, just make sure the light is generally in front of you to diffuse everything so that less imperfections can be seen. If it’s outdoors better to take a picture under the shade or in front of a window, where the light is not directly hitting your face but the diffused light is just coming in.

Aside from using the nightography features of the Galaxy S23 series, BJ also shared a tip on how to take a great selfie in the evening or when you’re in a club or event. “Take photos in front of an LCD or LED screen – it’s like an artificial window!

The Galaxy S23 series is now available through Samsung Experience Stores, Authorized Samsung Stores, Lazada, Shopee, and MemoXpress Online.

The Galaxy S23 series comes in four nature- inspired matte hues: Phantom Black, Cream, Green and Lavender 32 .

The Galaxy S23 retails for PHP 53,990 for the 128GB variant, and PHP 57,990 for the 256GB variant.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S23+ starts at PHP 68,990 for 256GB variant, and PHP 76,990 for the 512GB variant. Lastly, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is available at PHP 81,990 and PHP 89,990 for the 256GB and 512GB variants respectively.

A 1TB Galaxy S23 Ultra is also available at PHP 103,990.

5 New Songs That Journey Through Different Phases of Love

Love is a complex thing that can take people to different journeys, be it in the early stages of falling in love, in the bewildering situationship era, or the healthy relationship stage.

Go through different phases of love with these fresh new tracks from ABS-CBN Music artists Bryan Chong, Drei Sugay, Sam Hashimoto, JMKO, and gabby parafina:

1. Unrequited love in “Mag-iisa” by Bryan Chong

Former “Idol Philippines” season 2 finalist Bryan Chong talks about the pain of one-sided love in his single “Mag-iisa.” The track, produced by Star Pop label head Rox Santos, serves as Bryan’s first single as a recording artist.

2. Confused and helpless in “Ganun Talaga” by Drei Sugay

Drei’s debut single “Ganun Talaga” is a chill and carefree song that details the confusion that comes with the unpredictability of life and love. After his “Idol PH” journey, Drei is more than ready to break into the music scene with his self-penned single released under Star Pop.

3. Yearning for connection in “Before The Night Disappears” by Sam Hashimoto

In the soul/R&B ballad single, Sam admits that his heart is not yet ready for love but is often looking for connection that would make him feel alive. “Before The Night Disappears” is his second single since he debuted in 2021 with “You.”

4. Goodbye message in “Huling Harana” by JMKO

JMKO sends his goodbye note to a former love in his new single “Huling Harana.” The alternative track released under Star Music was written a few years ago for his ex and was shelved for a long time. With its remastered version, “Huling Harana” serves a new flavor that evokes pain and letting go.

5. Patience and devotion in “no rush” by gabby parafina

gabby parafina pays tribute to the 90s R&B era with the dreamy single “no rush” that will be released under Tarsier Records on March 10 (Friday). The self-composed song serves as a reminder that love will grow and flourish in time. His first album “THERAPY” was released in 2022, which earned him different Spotify features such as R&B Weekly and Fresh Finds R&B.

Jenna Ortega of Netflix's "Wednesday" Takes a New Stab at Horror in "Scream VI"

Teen sensation Jenna Ortega broke away from the pack when she starred in 2022’s Scream and in the Netflix series Wednesday which nabbed the Netflix record for most watched series and recently announced the Season 2 pickup.

For her performance Ortega was individually nominated for a 2023 Golden Globe award in the category of Best Television Actress Musical/Comedy Series and received a nomination for a 2022 Screen Actors Guild for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.

Now, Ortega returns as Tara Carpenter in Paramount Pictures’ new slasher thriller Scream VI, bringing together some familiar faces for a terrifying, sharp-witted, and bloody horror experience.

Watch the film’s “Ruthless” featurette at

Scream VI finds Sam (Melissa Barrera), her half-sister Tara and their friends, twins Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown) and Chad Meeks-Martin (Mason Gooding), having relocated from Woodsboro to New York City after the most recent Ghostface killings left them as the only survivors in their group of friends.

For Ortega, her character Tara doesn’t fit the genre’s so-called final girl mold. “It’s been really fun exploring her more in this film because I feel like I’m pulling out different traits,” she says. “I love that she’s more in touch with her feminine side and is a bit more sensitive. It’s very easy to make her cry and get under her skin. It’s also easy for her to grow unbelievably frustrated. Her older sister, Sam, is this stoic, strong, badass girl, which is also wonderful because we get to play off of each other.”

The story delves into how Sam and Tara are dealing with the horrors they lived through in entirely different and conflicting ways. “They’re like regular sisters that fight all the time and are sick of each other,” says Ortega. “Sam is the overprotective one, who is taking her job way too seriously. Tara’s this girl in college who wants independence and doesn’t want her sister hanging around watching her every move. There’s more friction, and the arc is more like a regular sibling relationship with ups and downs. Tara also has her journey of being in denial and not wanting to deal, choosing to move on with her life and not think about what happened ever again. Sam’s trying to get her to deal with it so that they can heal together.”

In Philippine cinemas starting March 8, Scream VI is distributed by Paramount Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

Bloodiest-Ever "Scream VI" Gets R-18 Rating from MTRCB for Graphic Horror and Violence

Paramount Pictures’ new suspense thriller Scream VI starring Jenna Ortega, has been rated R-18 Without Cuts by the Movie & Television Review & Classification Board (MTRCB).

Watch the film’s Superbowl spot at

This means horror fans are guaranteed to watch Scream VI in its integral, original version, as the filmmakers intended it to be seen when it opens nationwide on March 8.

The MTRCB reached an R-18 decision as “the film contains graphic but non-gratuitous depiction of horror, frightening scenes, violence and gore, that may not be suitable for viewers below eighteen (18) years of age.”

Scream VI castmember Melissa Barrera recently told Collider that the upcoming sequel has the potential to be 100 times gorier than any previous entry in the long-running horror franchise. According to the actor, directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett were always asking to increase the amount of blood on set.

“With the last ‘Scream,’ they were tip-toeing and trying to be very respectful of what the franchise had been, up until that point, and keeping their inner gory dreams at bay,” Barrera added. “But with this one, they were like, ‘We’re going all out.’ It’s potentially a hundred times gorier.”

About "Scream VI"

Following the latest Ghostface killings, the four survivors leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. In Scream VI, Melissa Barrera (“Sam Carpenter”), Jasmin Savoy Brown (“Mindy Meeks-Martin”), Mason Gooding (“Chad Meeks-Martin”), Jenna Ortega (“Tara Carpenter”), Hayden Panettiere (“Kirby Reed”) and Courteney Cox (“Gale Weathers”) return to their roles in the franchise alongside Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving.

Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett, produced by William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein, written by James Vanderbilt & Guy Busick, based on characters created by Kevin Williamson.

Scream VI is distributed in the Philippines by Paramount Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

Summer Travel Tips: "Revenge Travel" Your Way to These Local Foodie Destinations

“Revenge travel,” also known as traveling to make up for lost time, is predicted to be in full swing this year as more destinations here and abroad have lifted restrictions and now welcome all tourists. With summer just a few months away, this is the perfect time to plan a trip to a local destination where you can have fun and try out the regional cuisine.

If you’re looking for destinations where you can have good food and memories, we listed down affordable recommendations that you and your loved ones will enjoy. Just make sure you have all your essentials ready, like a bottle of Goodday cultured milk drink to prepare your immunity before and during your trips.

Ilocos Sur

Vigan City in Ilocos Sur is well-known for being a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its maintained roads and architecture from the Spanish colonial era. You can explore the city through walking tours or while riding a kalesa. After that, you can grab authentic Vigan longganisa, empanada, and crispy bagnet, which can be found in various restaurants.

For the ultimate food crawl, Pampanga has a lot of exotic dishes that you can try, like betute tagak (stuffed frog), pindang kalabaw (carabao tapa), adobong kamaru (stir-fried mole crickets), and more. The province is just an hour’s drive from Manila, so you can go for a day trip or stay for a few days to check out tourist attractions, such as Mt. Pinatubo and Nayong Pilipino.

Just a one to two-hour drive from Metro Manila, Batangas is known for tourist spots such as the Taal Volcano and relaxing beach resorts. When it comes to food, travelers often go to San Juan to hunt for traditional lomi, a hot noodle soup made with chicharon, and kapeng barako — both of which are perfect for the province’s cool climate.

With flights that can be as low as P4,000 from Manila, Bicol is worth the trip as it’s home to famous tourist spots such as the Cagsawa Ruins in Albay, where you have the best view of Mayon Volcano. You should also prepare for spicy local dishes, like traditional Bicol express and laing. Some restaurants also serve sili ice cream that has a great sweet and spicy combo.

Located in Western Visayas, Bacolod or the “City of Smiles” has a rich local cuisine, with the most popular dish being chicken inasal. The marinated roasted chicken dish is often dipped in sinamak, or spicy vinegar that’s local to Bacolod, and chicken oil for that savory and tangy flavor. Tourists can find chicken inasal in any restaurant and food stall in the area, but if you want to try different variations of it, Manokan County has stalls that serve various inasal dishes and other grilled meats.

Davao is known as both the Durian Capital and Chocolate Capital of the Philippines. Here, you can check out the Malagos Chocolate Museum, where you can learn about cacao production and sample yummy chocolates. Exotic fruit lovers can also dive into some fresh durian. The Mindanaoan city is also known for its seafood, like tuna, prawns, and crabs, which are great choices for lunch and dinner. If you’re planning to fly to Davao, you can book a ticket for as low as P2,000.

Whether you’re flying or driving, Goodday cultured milk drink will be a refreshing drink companion that has unique paraprobiotics Lactobacillus paracasei MCC1849, also known as a LAC-Shield, which can help strengthen one’s immune system. This drink is best served chill, but it can also be just as delicious even when it’s room temperature, so you can enjoy it anytime, anywhere.
