Janine Gutierrez Transfers to ABS-CBN

"When there's smoke, there's fire" as they say. Is it also true to say that longtime Kapuso actress Janine Gutierrez will soon become a Kapamilya after persistent rumors about it are spreading like wildfire recently?

Despite ABS-CBN's franchise denial, Janine reportedly decided to move to ABS-CBN after her 9 long years contract with GMA-7 ended last November -  a bold and risky decision according to some showbiz insiders. Janine mentioned "artistic integrity" as the reason for her transfer.

She is expected to sign her Kapamilya contract by second week of January.

"Love of My Life" Returns to GMA Telebabad this Monday, December 28

Beginning Monday (December 28), GMA Network offers Kapuso viewers something to look forward to this new year with the much-awaited comeback of the highly-rated family drama series 'Love of My Life' to primetime.

After several months of hiatus due to the pandemic, the star-studded cast is all set to gift their loyal fans with a recap of the heartwarming series which they have consistently followed since its pilot airing.

Love of My Life dwells on the atypical relationship of the Gonzales family. Isabella (Coney Reyes), the matriarch, is a rich widow with high standards who would stop at nothing to get what's best for her sons - Nikolai (Mikael Daez), the youngest son who has grown into a rebellious man, and Stefano (Tom Rodriguez), the favorite son who also happens to father the child of his former lover, Kelly (Rhian Ramos).

Amidst his mother's objection, Stefano pursues Adelle (Carla Abellana), a widow with a child who manages her own handicraft business. Their seemingly perfect life crumbles not only when Kelly barges into the picture along with the estranged Nikolai, but also when Stefano gets diagnosed with a terminal illness.

Playing equally vital roles are Anna Marin as Siony, Adelle's doting and supportive mother; Vaness del Moral as Joyce, Adelle's strict but supportive friend who also helps run her handicraft business; Geleen Eugenio as Manang Eden, the Gonzales' family cook, and a warm-hearted spinster; Samantha Lopez as Janice, Isabella's fashionable and loyal personal assistant; Maey Bautista as Cha-mae, Adelle's humorous and kikay friend who works in her handicraft business; Angeli Bayani as Osang, Eden's niece who will take over her duties for the Gonzales family and become Kelly's friend; Ethan Hariot as Gideon, Kelly's charming son from Stefano whom he abandoned; Raphael Landicho as Andrei, Adelle's adorable son from her ex-boyfriend; Levi Ignacio as Mang Arsing, the Gonzales' trusted driver who is also a close friend of Isabella's sons; Carl Guevarra as Kiel, close confidante and business partner of Stefano; and Dino Pastrano as Elmer, Adelle's loving brother who manages their family farm.

As the series airs anew, the cast members reveal how they feel about working in the new normal and alongside each other, their memorable experiences on set, and what's the most valuable lesson they learned this year.

Coney took to Instagram to commend Carla and Rhian's utmost professionalism, "Happy to be working for the first time in a TV drama with Carla Abellana and Rhian Ramos. These two young actresses exhibit excellent work ethics and display remarkable acting skills. I would say they are underrated. Through time, I know they will get even better and shine even brighter! Such gems of GMA.”

Carla, in turn, shares in one of her YouTube vlogs about her experiences on set, “So far, so great. Nag-eenjoy kaming lahat dito. We're very grateful for our work and for this place. Hindi lang kami makapag-usap-usap dahil concentrated talaga kami sa aming mga eksena lalo na sa mga linya namin given na for seven weeks ang hawak naming scripts.”

Rhian also expresses her gratitude towards her co-stars and the production team after the success of their lock-in taping, “Our lock-in taping for Love of My Life has come to an end, and I'm leaving our bubble with memories I'll cherish. So many good times. In the end, it's those things I take with me. It's amazing what we were able to achieve despite all challenges. Ipinagmamalaki kong makasama sa isang palabas na gawa ninyo, thank you for having me in your team.”

Meanwhile, Mikael imparts what this year has taught him, “In terms of the feelings of anxiety, helplessness, fear - they're all there. But I guess one thing I can focus on is that towards the end, noong natuloy 'yung lock-in taping namin for Love of My Life, I did see positive aspects of this year suddenly sprouting. Para sa akin, this new normal, as difficult as the adjustment may have been, it is bringing about different and new opportunities. I guess we just have to take it in stride.”

Don't miss the highly-anticipated recap of 'Love of My Life - under the helm of esteemed director Don Michael Perez - beginning December 28, weeknights, only on GMA Network.

GMA Network to Air “The Clash Christmas Special: Pasko Para sa Lahat!” on December 25

Amidst a challenging year, the holiday season has a way of reminding us that there are still many reasons to be happy and inspired.

This Christmas, GMA Network's all original singing competition, The Clash, brings together former Clashers, Hosts, and The Clash Panel together for a night filled with spectacular musical numbers in “The Clash Christmas Special: Pasko Para sa Lahat!”

Inspirational songs of resilience and hope will be told through timeless songs by Clash Masters Julie Anne San Jose and Rayver Cruz; Journey Hosts Rita Daniela and Ken Chan; The Clash Panel composed of Original Concert Queen Pops Fernandez, Asia's Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista, and Comedy Concert Queen Aiai delas Alas; and Grand Champions Golden Canedo, Jeremiah Tiangco, and Jessica Villarubin.

After a two-month absence from the program, The Clash Panel and Asia's Nightingale Lani Misalucha returns to tell her story and her continuing struggle to get back on her feet. She will also give a heartfelt rendition of a Christmas classic.

Like the “trending queen” that she is, judge Aiai will surely amp up the fun with yet another performance of one of international K-pop group BLACKPINK's hit songs.

Julie and Rayver, together with Rita and Ken, are bound to make viewers swoon with a sweet serenade featuring a romantic Christmas song. Finalists from Seasons 1 to 3 will also take part in the celebration with special numbers while messages of thanksgiving and hope will be shared by the biggest stars of the network.

Gather round the family and celebrate the holiday with “The Clash Christmas Special: Pasko Para sa Lahat!” this December 25, Friday, after 24 Oras on GMA-7.

Spend Christmas with Family by Binge-Watching These 15 FREE MMFF Movies on iWantTFC

Pinoy Christmas calls for the yearly tradition of gathering the whole family for trips to the cinema to watch Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) movies. This year, you can still experience it at home thanks to iWantTFC, where viewers can enjoy and easily access MMFF hits – and the best thing about it is that they’re all available for free.

Jump right into the holiday spirit, sit back at home, and enjoy binge-watching these 15 free movies spanning romance, drama, comedy, and horror:

1. “Sisterakas”

Vice Ganda, Ai-Ai delas Alas, and Kris Aquino all came together for the first time in the 2012 hit “Sisterakas.” In this family comedy, Bernice (Vice) and Detty (Ai-Ai) are half-sisters and rivals who grew apart but cross paths once again and are forced to team up against Roselle (Kris). Also bringing fun and ‘kilig’ to viewers is the popular loveteam of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.

2. “Ang Tanging Ina Nyong Lahat”

The iconic tandem of Ai-Ai delas Alas and Eugene Domingo in the hit film “Ang Tanging Ina” carried on to its box office hit sequel “Ang Tanging Ina Nyong Lahat.” This time, Ina (Ai-Ai) is faced with a much bigger responsibility as she becomes president of the Philippines in an odd twist of fate. Will she be able to put her motherly instincts to use in serving the entire country?

3. “Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last na ‘To)”

What was supposed to be the final film for the “Ang Tanging Ina” installment highlights the bond and happiness of a family, especially for Ina (Ai-Ai delas Alas) who is a single mother to 12 children. The Comedy Queen brings the same fun and energy to this story, where she learns how to cherish her time with her kids after her doctor tells her she only has eight months left to live.

4. “Pagpag: Siyam Na Buhay”

Do you believe in Pinoy superstitions, or are you dismissive of them? In this horror movie starring Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, Shaina Magdayao, and Paulo Avelino, a group of friends has to face the consequences of eschewing “pagpag” before going home after attending a wake. Make sure you are brave enough when watching this!

5. “Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo”

Three years before Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo tied the knot, they played a young married couple in their first movie together – the riotously funny “Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo.” What happens after the supposed “happily ever after”? Apparently there’s fighting over the smallest things such as what pochero should taste like, persisting pangs of jealousy, pregnancy mood swings, and learning to love your partner even if they turn out to be not as perfect as you thought they were.

6. “Mano Po”

The iconic “Mano Po” installment has become a part of Pinoy and Chinoy Christmases, as we have already been accustomed to getting a new movie every year with a fresh set of stars. But nothing beats the first-ever “Mano Po,” which boasts the ensemble cast of Richard Gomez, Eddie Garcia, Boots Anson-Roa, Tirso Cruz III, and Gina Alajar, and the performances of Maricel Soriano, Kris Aquino, and Ara Mina as its highlights.

7. “Tanging Yaman”

Featuring probably the most iconic family confrontation scene in Philippine cinema and an ensemble of acclaimed actors, “Tanging Yaman” is the definitive family movie that we should all watch once a year. With its themes of sibling rivalry, conflict over an inheritance, and the impending death of a family matriarch, this MMFF 2020 Best Picture will surely get you good.

8. “Father Jejemon”

The King of Comedy Dolphy’s last movie, “Father Jejemon” stresses the importance of community, unity, and kindness. Dolphy plays Father Jeremiah Jerome Montes, an avant-garde priest who replaces a beloved parish priest in a small town, which at first does not welcome him. That starts to change when their church is threatened to be destroyed by a businessman. All of a sudden, everyone has something in common that is worth fighting for.

9. “Manila Kingpin: The Untold Story of Asiong Salonga"

In a world where violence is the name of the game and the leader is respected yet feared, only corrupt minds will remain on top. Set in the year 1950, “Manila Kingpin” is a multi-awarded Filipino biographical-crime film which tackles the dark side of love, wealth, politics, and gang wars in the life of Asiong Salonga. The star-studded cast is composed of John Regala, Carla Abellana, Phillip Salvador, Baron Geisler, Dennis Padilla, and E.R Ejercito.

10. “Bahay ni Lola”

If your family is looking to get spooked, the haunted house genre is always a good idea. Rattle and scream along to 2001’s “Bahay ni Lola,” where a family chooses to celebrate Christmas at their ancestral home, only to squabble with each other and awaken the demons residing in it. Will their lola be able to save them from evil before it’s too late?

11. “Aishite Imasu: 1941: Mahal Kita”

Set in 1941, this romantic war epic finds Inya (Judy Ann Santos) marrying her childhood sweetheart but whose dreams of starting a family is thwarted by the war. Her best friend Igna (Dennis Trillo), a transgender woman, also falls in love with a Japanese soldier – which to her feels like disloyalty to her country. What follows is a marathon of sacrifice, betrayal, and principle that can only be the product of warfare.

12. “Dalaw”

What happens when your dead husband comes back to haunt you after you fall in love again? In this movie, Horror Movie Queen Kris Aquino plays Stella, who decides to marry the love of her life years after her husband dies. Things start to go awry in her life after the wedding, and mysterious ghostly hauntings threaten her and her loved ones… which leads Stella to believe that his dead husband may be to blame.

13. “I Love You, Goodbye”

Four people figure in a complicated love square in this Laurice Guillen-directed romance drama. While Lizelle (Angelica Panganiban) and Adrian (Gabby Concepcion) are anything but happy in their new relationship, his daughter Ysa (Kim Chiu) is brazen in her display of disgust towards her. But the icing on the cake in this mess? Lizelle starts an affair with her ex-boyfriend Gary (Derek Ramsay), who is Ysa’s current boyfriend.

14. “Segunda Mano”

In this Joyce Bernal movie, we get to see Dingdong Dantes in his award-winning role as Ivan, alongside Angelica Panganiban and Kris Aquino. The story sees Ivan having to deal with the haunting of his deceased wife Mariella (Angelica) when Mabel (Kris), his current fiancee, purchases a secondhand bag that once belonged to his former wife.

15. “The Haunted Mansion”

What happens when a group of friends toy with supernatural beings while on a retreat in a haunted mansion? The characters of Marlo Mortel, Jerome Ponce, Janice De Belen, and Janella Salvador will have to find out the hard way when the ghosts decide to play along in this 2015 horror film, which received positive reviews and also marked Janella’s debut in a movie.

As featured on this month’s Meralco Advisory, Meralco has also made paying the monthly electricity bill even more convenient, as only the Customer Account Number or CAN - which is printed on the bill - is needed during payment.

Strict safety measures such as the “No Mask, No Entry” rule, Social Distancing, and Temperature Check continue to be implemented. Frontliners are available and ready, but strictly follow Social Distancing guidelines. Visitors can rest assured that these frontliners have passed the rapid COVID-19 testing authorized by the Pasig City Health Office. There are also acrylic barriers set up in the Meralco branches to protect both the customer and the frontliner.

However, for maximum safety and convenience, Meralco still encourages customers to use Meralco Online to transact from the safety of their homes. Multiple options for transactions have also been offered by the distribution utility, including the Meralco Mobile App via https://onelink.to/meralcomobile, Meralco Online via www.Meralco.com.ph, and the Meralco authorized payment channels at bit.ly/MeralcoPaymentPartners

For more information and concerns, customers may visit MERALCO’s website at www.MERALCO.com.ph, its social media accounts, twitter @MERALCO and Facebook at www.facebook.com/MERALCO or may also call the MERALCO Hotline at 16211.

Kapamilya Stars Named as the Most Influential Celebrities in EdukCircle Awards 2020 and Fobes Asia’s 100 Digital Stars 2020

ABS-CBN personalities continue to receive recognition for using their influence and platform for social good as eight Kapamilya stars were recently named by the 10th EdukCircle Awards as Most Influential Celebrities of The Decade

Leading the list is “Iba ‘Yan” host Angel Locsin. It can be recalled that Angel led fundraising projects to help the country’s COVID-19 response, as well as relief efforts in successive calamities this year. In her acceptance speech Angel highlighted that everyone has the responsibility to influence one another to do good.

I believe we all have the responsibility to influence one another – to do what is right, to lift each other up, to create awareness about important matters, and to use our voice for the voiceless.”

EdukCircle also named “It’s Showtime” host Anne Curtis and actress Bea Alonzo who both promised to continue setting good examples for the public, especially the youth.

“FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” star Coco Martin, “The House Arrest of Us” stars Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo, Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo, and the Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda all thanked EdukCircle for the trust and love because of the prestigious recognition.

Meanwhile, Kapamilya stars also shined as they were part of the inaugural Fobes Asia’s 100 Digital Stars that aims to recognize the most influential personalities in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Forbes Asia recognition means a double win for Angel, Anne, Kathryn, Sarah, and Vice.

Forbes Asia took notice of Kim Chiu who is included on the list after she made something positive out of her viral video gaffe earlier this year. Kim sold ‘Bawal Lumabas’ t-shirts to help those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. She also published a song inspired by the viral statement that raked in over nine (9) million views on YouTube.

I am just thankful for everything God has been giving me. My faith has been tested this year, but I never gave up on trusting his will. All in His glory! All for you, Father God! Thank you Forbes for this recognition. There is truly love and light,” Kim said after she learned about her latest recognition.

Inigo Pascual and Moophs’ Collab Song “Always” Make it to Apple Music's “The 100 Best Songs of 2020”

Inigo Pascual and Moophs’ recent collaboration, the dancehall-afrobeat pop track “Always,” made it to Apple Music’s yearly roundup of global top music releases dubbed “The 100 Best Songs of 2020 Playlist.”

This year’s theme is “music of all styles and perspectives bringing us closer together when many of us are forced apart.” Aside from “Always,” the list includes songs from Dua Lipa to Ariana Grande to Justin Bieber and some of the world’s huge pop acts.

Dancehall meets Afrobeat put lovers’ heartbeat in sync,” cited Apple Music editors on “Always,” a pop song that speaks of convincing a love interest to commitment despite reservations, which is a theme remarkably central to Inigo’s upcoming 2021 full-length album, “Options.”

I feel like releasing songs that give you good vibes is important right now with what's happening in the world. It's the perfect way to bring smiles to people, wherever they are and whatever they're going through,” said Inigo about the track.

Moophs, meanwhile, expressed glee over the streaming platform’s recognition. “I’m honored to be included in Apple Music’s Top 100 roundup for 2020 alongside such amazing artists. Big love to everyone enjoying and supporting the music. I’m really glad what we’ve been doing is starting to reach some ears around the world,” he said.

The Tarsier Records’ label head produced, composed, and mixed “Always,” with songwriting handled by BTS’ “Black Swan” co-composer Vince Nantes, fellow Tarsier Records artist and OPM pop artist Sam Concepcion, and Inigo himself.

The single follows the creative crew's hopeful track “RISE” from earlier this year, one of the biggest international releases to ever come out of the country, bringing together artists from the US (Eric Bellinger, Vince Nantes), Malaysia (Zee Avi), and the Philippines (Inigo, Sam, Moophs).

Inigo and Moophs also made history earlier this month as they released a remix of their 2019 island pop hit, “Catching Feelings,” which nears 10M Spotify plays and has generated over 100K social dance challenge videos. The international collab featured Grammy-nominated producer Leslie “Bimwala” Ludiazo and one of Hawaii’s biggest reggae acts, J Boog.

MYX Global hosted the worldwide premiere of “Catching Feelings” (Bimwala Remix), which was launched in a revolutionary four-day marathon of over 50 DJs playing it on their virtual sets on Twitch, kumu, and radio stations around the world from Manila to Los Angeles, Toronto and London. The song is currently holding the no. 2 spot on iHeartRadio's Island 98.2, Hawaii's top reggae radio station.

Holiday Money Saving Tips: How to Invest Your Christmas Bonus and Aginaldo Wisely

The calendar finally turning to December brings with it a lot of things, most especially the one thing many people have been waiting all year for: the 13th month pay and Christmas bonus. The yearly windfall often leads people to buy on things they want and need.

But while you do deserve to treat yourself after a long year, you might also want to consider trying something different. What if, instead of spending your bonus right away, you decided to grow it and get more money in return?

This is definitely something you can do now with various investment products made available to you by banks. “Now that you have received your bonus, is actually the best time to start investing in financial instruments that will generate value for your money and are suitable to your personal risk appetite and profile,” said Raul Victor de Guzman, EastWest FVP and Head of Securities, Derivatives, and FX Distribution and Sales.

Here are three financial products you may want to consider availing with your holiday bonuses:

Time Deposit

A Time Deposit account is a good place to start, as it is one of the simplest investments you can avail yourself of with your money. It’s a deposit account with a specific maturity period, and you make money through an interest rate that is higher than a basic savings account, depending on the term and placement amount.

EastWest is offering bonus rates if you book a Peso or US Dollar Time Deposit account via EastWest Mobile or Online.

Bonds

Bonds are investment securities, like stocks, that can be bought or sold in the secondary market. Bonds are basically debts and obligations of companies or governments sold to investors. These companies and/or governments, called bond issuers, pay the investors regular coupon interest payments on the amount invested. Bonds typically pay higher interest than traditional time deposits. The minimum investment depends on the terms of the bond you choose.

Should you choose to buy bonds, banks can help you by assessing your risk profile (i.e. conservative, balanced or aggressive) and suggest bonds for your consideration that are suitable and consistent with your risk profile. EastWest has top bond picks to choose from to make investment easier. These top picks range from government securities to high grade corporate bonds which are medium- to long-term investments with a steady payout schedule.

UITF

A Unit Investment Trust Fund or UITF is a pooled fund that gives you access to financial markets generally of stocks and fixed income instruments. EastWest offers three types of UITFs to cater to the different risk profiles and investment objectives of the clients. There are different types of UITFs to choose from:

Money Market Funds are for clients who have conservative risk profiles and short-term liquidity needs. The funds aim to provide its investors liquidity and stable income derived from diversified portfolio of fixed income instruments. These funds have a portfolio duration of 1 year or less.

Bond funds are for clients who have moderate risk profiles and medium-term liquidity needs. The funds aim to provide potential returns higher than traditional bank deposits by investing in diversified mixed portfolio of fixed income instruments. These funds have a portfolio duration of more than 1 year.

Equity Funds are for clients who have aggressive risk profiles. Funds are invested in equities which are highly volatile. The funds aim to provide higher potential returns by investing in a diversified portfolio of equities.

The minimum investment for EW Peso UITFs is P10,000 except for EW Peso Long-Term Bond Fund whose minimum investment in P50,000.

You may choose the UITF to invest in based on your risk appetite (which the bank can assess and help you with) and you make money from the fund’s appreciation and/or income and dividends earned by the funds.

Equipped with this information, you can now make a good plan for your future by investing that bonus. You might not see the results right away, but you’ll be glad you did one day! Head to your nearest EastWest store or contact EastWest Bank’s SEDEX officers at 0919-0621226 / 0919-0621218.
