"I'd grown up with her, watching her in the British TV show Skins," says writer-director Johannes Roberts. "Claire Redfield is our entry into the world, and Kaya shares her street-smart toughness. She is tough and funny – she loved the action stuff and was very good at it. She does a lot of the emotional lifting in the movie, but also a lot of shooting zombies in the head and fighting crazy creatures. She was perfect."
For both cast and crew, it was crucial to treat these iconic characters with respect. "There's obviously a huge responsibility, because my character is so important to so many people," Scodelario says. "I started looking through all the different incarnations of the game and reading what fans loved about each, and which ones resonated the most and why."
"Claire is the stranger who comes to town and leads us on this journey," says Scodelario. "She's going back to her childhood town because she has a sense that something is wrong and feels a deep urgency to get to her brother, to warn him. But when we meet Claire and Chris as adults, we notice quite quickly that something has happened between them. They find it very difficult to communicate. They don't quite trust each other. As the story progresses, we learn they have a bond, borne through a traumatic childhood, that they've learnt to deal with in opposite ways. Chris joined the police and Claire has gone on the street. As we follow them, they find a way to unite and come back to each other."

Reports have it that Kapuso primetime Queen Marian Rivera is scheduled to fly to Israel to seat as one of the judges in the upcoming Miss Universe 2021 coronation night in Eilat, Israel.
According to a blind item published by PEP, a popular Kapuso actress was invited to judge the 70th edition of Miss Universe on December 12 because of her "kagandahan at mga accomplishment bilang aktres at ina" which can be easily refer to Marian's status with GMA Network.
If this is is true, Marian will be the 4th Filipino showbiz personality to seat as a judge in the much-anticipated annual beauty competition after Kuh Ledesma in the 40th Miss Universe in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 17, 1991. In the 30-second sneak peek, Lee Dong Wook plays the role of a charming rogue police inspector Ryu Su Yeol who is left helpless in his encounters with the crazy motorcycle rider played by Wi Ha Jun. Donning a helmet, Wi rides recklessly on the streets to leave pillion rider Lee Dong Wook screaming. When they meet again, Lee Dong Wook is in a bathrobe in a back alley, and Wi lifts his ride over Lee in a shocking and dangerous move. The seemingly insane Wi Ha Jun wheelies to shatter a window of the car that Lee Dong Wook is in, to leave him shaken.
The trailer also suggests the Lee-Wi relationship is not one-sided.
