OPM Legends Basil Valdez and Jamie Rivera Collaborate to Bring "Love and Light" Live at the Resorts World Manila this April 30

OPM Legend Basil Valdez and the Inspirational Diva Jamie Rivera team up for a night of uplifting music to the country’s pioneer lifestyle and entertainment destination, Resorts World Manila (RWM). 

The one-night only affair, aptly dubbed 'Love and Light’, will delight the live audience of the ultra-modern Newport Performing Arts Theater on April 30, 2022, at 8pm.

Basil and Jamie are set to serenade the crowd with their timeless hits and inspirational anthems, As what Basil shared during the media conference, "Love because I would like to speak of the repertoire. I'm doing most of the love songs. And I am praying tributes to four great Filipino composers George Canseco, Gerry Paraiso, Ryan Cayabyab, and Willy Cruz. And she [Jamie] will do some inspirational songs that's why Love and Light. So pinag-combine. I hope that people can be enlightened with the love songs that I'll be performing and will get inspiration from the songs that Jamie will be singing."

Kiss N Tell's New Song "Bahaghari" Highlights Value of Finding One's Soulmate

OPM band Kiss N Tell continues to roll out new music, this time celebrating love through its new single “Bahaghari.”

The song is an indie/alt pop-rock composition that appreciates the rarity of being with one’s soulmate. It is the brainchild of Kiss N Tell’s rhythm guitarist Joshua Ortiz, who said that growing up he has always been fascinated with rainbows or ‘bahaghari’ (Tagalog).

“I was curious to find out what to see at a rainbow’s end. So I came up with this idea for a song asking the possibility to find your connection if she is at the other end,” he said.

Josh initially composed “Bahaghari” during an impromptu songwriting challenge he and lead guitarist Aniceto Cabahug III had with songwriter friends, which he later polished and finished with his bandmates Lennix Purificacion (lead vocals), Arjumar Arbotante (bass guitar), Ronnel Navarro (keys), and Ernie Bañares (drums).

Earlier this year, Kiss N Tell released its singles “Lundag” on being a ‘rebound’ and “Exsena” which explores the emotions of exes reuniting.

Before signing under DNA Music, the band was a finalist in the 11th edition of ABS-CBN’s HIMIG songwriting competition in 2020.

ABS-CBN's Film Arm Star Cinema is now a Kapuso

Last Tuersday, April 5, GMA Network hosted a historic contract signing with ABS-CBN to license some of Star Cinema’s most popular and well-loved movies.

The partnership between the two rival networks was revealed on both's primetime newscast 24-Oras and TV Patrol as well as their social media pages.

ABS-CBN Films managing director Olivia M. Lamasan welcomed the ABS-CBN and GMA partnership in which the Kapuso Network will air Star Cinema movies.

“We are delighted to have Star Cinema movies be enjoyed by Kapuso viewers through this partnership with GMA. We thank the network for believing in our films, and we welcome this collaboration as a great beginning that will inspire us to continue creating stories that will resonate with more Filipinos,” said Lamasan in a statement.

Star Magic Celebrates 30th Anniversary with the Return of "Star Magic All Star Games" on May 22

It is stars versus fans in “Star Magic Game Zone,” the latest fundraising activity of ABS-CBN and the ABS-CBN Foundation for the benefit of survivors of Super Typhoon Odette.

From March 30 to April 8, Star Magic artists will play the popular Mobile Legends (ML) game against five of their fans while they encourage people to donate any amount to provide home repair kits to families whose homes were destroyed during the typhoon.

“Star Magic Game Zone,” which is done in partnership with gaming and Esports company LuponWXC and MOONTON Games, international gaming developer of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, kicked off the action with host MYX VJ Ai Dela Cruz and shoutcaster Lanna last March 30 featuring breakthrough artists Markus Paterson, Anthony Jennings, Gello Marquez, and Esnyr Ranollo, who clinched a win in their best-of-three against fans.

They also announced the return of Star Magic All Star Games on May 22 as part of the 30th anniversary celebration of the country’s biggest talent management and development agency. Here, Kapamilya celebrities will battle in the sports of volleyball, badminton, and golf, while the “It’s Showtime” family will play a basketball game against the Star Magic Dream Team.

Meanwhile, Team Girl Power of Gillian Vicencio, Heaven Peralejo, Vivoree Esclito, and Elha Nympha lit up Day 2 of “Star Magic Game Zone” with their awesome play with host Karen Bordador and shoutcaster Honeyglazee. Like in Day 1, the stars were also game for dares like showing their latest photo on their phone, singing a song request, or answering a question from fans whenever they lose a game or when donations reached a certain amount.

While they were having fun during play, the artists turned serious as they asked viewers to donate what they can to the “Tulong-Tulong sa Pag-Ahon: Isang Daan sa Pagtutulungan” campaign.

“Let’s have an open heart and help our fellow Kapamilyas, our kababayans na affected by Typhoon Odette. Anything, any piece of love, any donation, any gift that you can give will be greatly appreciated,” said Markus.

As of Monday (April 4), the ABS-CBN Foundations has delivered 584 home repair kits while 207,649 families have received food packs since Super Typhoon Odette devastated parts of Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao last year. Total cash donations is already at P104,850,000 while in-kind donations have reached P16,450,000.

Aside from sending virtual gifts, stars, or stickers during “Star Magic Game Zone,” Kapamilyas can also help by availing Tulong Vouchers on Lazada and Shopee that will be added to funds for home repair kits and by supporting the upcoming Metro Benefit Sale.

2 Weeks in a Row: Teen Housemates Rob Blackburn, Kai Espenido, and Stephanie Jordan are in Danger of PBB Eviction

Teen housemates Rob Blackburn, Kai Espenido, and Stephanie Jordan were spared during the first eviction, but they are in the face of danger once more as the nominees for the second eviction night of “PBB Kumunity Season 10” Teen Edition.

Rob led the list with 13 votes, followed by Kai with 8 votes, and Stephanie with 5 votes.

Meanwhile, Don Hilario’s ‘PBB’ journey has ended after he was named the first teen housemate evictee. The “Lola’s Boy Galing ng Laguna” got 2.09 percent of combined votes to save and evict from the outside world, while his co-nominees, Stephanie (8.09 percent), Kai (12.05 percent), Stef Draper (16.58 percent), and Rob (34.71 percent) were able to heave a sigh of relief after being saved from the first eviction.

Don thanked “PBB Kumunity” for the opportunity to be part of the show that he once dreamed of.

“Very happy na na-meet ko yung mga kapwa kong housemates. Dream ko ‘to. I’m very grateful sa opportunity dahil ang daming nangangarap nito,” Don shared after being welcomed by the ‘pamilya ni Kuya,’ hosts Bianca Gonzalez, Robi Domingo, and Kim Chiu.

Tensions also filled the ‘PBB’ house as Rob clashed with fellow housemates. Rob raised his voice at Kai who reminded them of the instructions for their weekly task. This is not the first incident involving Rob who also raised his voice at Stef and Maxine Trinidad.

Rob explained he’s having troubles communicating with other people and felt ashamed about his behavior. “I have problems with communicating to other people. I have problems with connecting to other people. I have problems making friends everywhere I went,” he shared. Rob also apologized to his housemates and said he did not intend to hurt anyone.

The housemates also emerged victorious for their weekly task this week, wherein they had to copy an image by creating a photo mosaic with 324 pieces of different photographs.

Sandra Bullock is a Novelist Turned Adventurer in Action-Comedy-Adventure Film "The Lost City"

Sandra Bullock has long been drawn to the idea of making an action-adventure film seasoned with comedy, like the classic sweeping adventures she has enjoyed as a moviegoer. So, she decided to produce one, through her production company Fortis Films. And with that, "The Lost City" is born!

As expected, the Academy Award winning actor and respected filmmaker aimed high. Bullock recalls, “We knew we were ambitious in what we were trying to pull off… but we also knew we HAD to pull it off. This film wouldn’t work if all the tones in it didn’t intersect seamlessly. The central characters are a shut-in author and a model, neither of whom should be in a jungle or even out in nature. Jungles eat people like them. They should remain in a hermetically sealed building with air conditioning.”

In the film, brilliant but reclusive author Loretta Sage (Bullock) has spent her career writing about exotic places in her popular romance-adventure novels featuring handsome cover model Alan (Tatum), who has dedicated his life to embodying the hero character, “Dash.” While on tour promoting her new book with Alan, Loretta is kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire (Daniel Radcliffe) who hopes that she can lead him to the ancient lost city’s treasure from her latest story. Wanting to prove that he can be a hero in real life and not just on the pages of her books, Alan sets off to rescue her. Thrust into an epic jungle adventure, the unlikely pair will need to work together to survive the elements and find the ancient treasure before it’s lost forever.

Loretta is really a historian disguised as a best-selling author of romantic historical fiction. “No one would buy her history books,” Bullock explains, “so Loretta added some sex to sell them and found great success with that.”

A widow whose beloved husband was an archaeologist, Loretta is now a recluse. She hides in a comfortable house, surrounded by artifacts and memories, finding adventure in the stories she concocts while pining for a life that has long since passed. “Loretta finds comfort in her home, books, words, and in her brain,” says Bullock. “She finds adventure in her imagination and has no need to go out there and look for it.”

Instead, Loretta seems more than satisfied to send her heroine, Dr. Angela Lovemore, into the wild in such floridly titled books as “A Year in the Bush” and, her latest release, “The Lost City of D.”

When Loretta comes down with writer’s block, her best friend and publisher / marketing guru, Beth, insists that she attend a book convention to get the ideas flowing and to spice up sales. But Beth knows success at the convention will take more than a personal appearance by the author; it requires a secret weapon – Dash, the strikingly handsome model who graces the covers of Loretta’s romance novels. Then, the shenanigans begin.

Sandra Bullock closes with her hopes and thoughts for a big-scale entertainment on which she served in two key roles. “You could make a ride out of this film at Disneyland, with its scope and scale. It transports you, makes you feel like you're flying, and makes you feel like you’re there with Loretta and Dash in the vastness of this jungle. So, if we can’t go on vacation just yet, hopefully you’ll be able to go into the movie theaters and feel like you’ve been on a vacation with us.”

Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore” is a magical adventure that sends a team of unlikely heroes, led by Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), on a mission that could spell their only chance to save both the wizarding and non-magical worlds. Dumbledore has been one of the most revered figures in the Wizarding World canon since he was first introduced some 20-plus years ago. However, the beloved wizard of the Harry Potter books and movies has an intriguing history that is unveiled in the third film in the “Fantastic Beasts” series.

Jude Law, who returns to the role of the wizard destined to be Headmaster at Hogwarts, reveals, “What I enjoyed the most was the opportunity to unpeel more of Dumbledore’s past. There were hints of it in the last film, but here we are able to delve into his connection with Gellert Grindelwald as young men and the point at which it started to break. Albus had once shared with Grindelwald quite extreme views about Muggles, which he worked out himself as being wrong and backed away. But he lives with that dark secret and the fallout from their relationship.”

Portrayed by Mads Mikkelsen, Gellert Grindelwald had been a wanted man due to his radical beliefs and violent tactics. Now, the powerful Dark wizard has emerged from the shadows, ready to implement his plot to gain control of the entire wizarding world and wage all-out war on the Muggles. This time, however, he is not operating outside the law but within the system while twisting it to his own ends, which makes him all-the-more dangerous.

Dumbledore is the one wizard with the power to thwart Grindelwald’s ambitions, but there remains a physical manifestation of their previous relationship that stops him. Law explains, “The blood oath is the embodiment of the bond between Gellert and Albus, one made through youthful passion and belief. Even though their lives have taken very different directions, they are still connected in this stalemate, which, from Albus’s point of view, is hugely frustrating.”

Ever the chess master, Dumbledore formulates a plan that involves his friend and former student, Newt Scamander, joining forces with a small band of wizards, witches and one brave Muggle. Yates observes, “Dumbledore has a checkered history of encouraging people to do crazy things, but we love him for that, nonetheless.”
