ABS-CBN Dominates National and Primetime TV in March 2012

ABS-CBN Dominates National and Primetime TV in March 2012

ABS-CBN Corporation led all TV networks in terms of viewership as measured by national TV ratings last March and continued to dominate primetime television across the country by wrestling leadership in Mega and Metro Manila from its rival.

Data from the industry-trusted multinational audience research group Kantar Media, which has national samples of 1,324 homes and 7,666 individuals that are statistically representative of total Philippine TV population, show that ABS-CBN obtained an average audience share of 36% nationwide for total day viewership, which was higher than GMA’s 34%

Kantar Media also reported that more Filipinos nationwide watch ABS-CBN during primetime (6 pm to 12 mn) as seen in ABS-CBN’s primetime audience share of 44%, which increased from previous month’s 41.4%. This represents a 15-point lead over GMA’s primetime audience share of 29%.

ABS-CBN took the lead in its rivals’ claimed bailiwicks of Mega and Metro Manila on the important primetime block when viewing levels peak and when advertisers place more of their TV ads to reach more viewers. ABS-CBN averaged 36% in audience share vs GMA’s 34% in Mega Manila and 38% vs 32% in Metro Manila.

Among all primetime programs, “Walang Hanggan” soared high in TV ratings and led the pack nationwide with an average TV rating of 35.2% compared to its rival “My Beloved” with only 16%. Even in Mega Manila and Metro Manila, the Coco Martin-Julia Montes starrer was the most watched with 29.3% vs 20.2% and 31.5% vs 19% respectively.

ABS-CBN also won in other territories on total day and earned an average audience share of 39% vs GMA’s 35% in Balance Luzon (areas in Luzon outside Mega Manila); 48% vs 23% in Visayas; and 54% vs 16% in Mindanao.

Kantar Media’s report showed that nine ABS-CBN programs figured in the top ten most watched programs, while a blocktimer that produces a program aired on GMA network landed on the 10th spot.

“Walang Hanggan” continues to be the most watched show in the country followed by recently concluded “Budoy” with an average national TV rating of 29%, “E-Boy” with 28.9%, and the new series “Dahil sa Pag-ibig” (27.8%) .

MMK” is still the number one weekend program with an average national TV rating of 28% followed by “Wansapanataym” (23.8%), while “TV Patrol” remains to be the number one with an average national TV rating of 25.2%. When it comes to current affairs program, “Rated K” is still the undisputed leader with 22.4%.

ABS-CBN’S new show “Sarah G Live” made a strong debut as it instantly ranked 9th in the top ten with 21.4%.

ABS-CBN’s late afternoon block (3PM to 6 PM) is gaining ground and increased from an average national audience share of 29.1% in January 2012 to 34% in March 2012.

ABS-CBN’s DZMM topped all AM radio stations last February in Mega Manila with a 42.1% audience share, higher by 14.4 points higher than GMA’s DZBB that only got 27.7%, according to the Nielsen Mega Manila RAM data.

Kantar Media, a multinational market research group that specializes in audience measurement in more than 80 countries, has 22 TV networks, ad agencies, and pan-regional networks subscribing to its ratings services. Among its current subscribers are ABS-CBN, NBN, Sky Cable, J. Romero and Associates, Adformatix, Starcom, OMD, PhD, Mediacom, Mindshare, MEC, Maxus, Universal McCann, and Wellmade Manufacturing Corporation. They also include pan-regional networks likes CSM Media Inc., Fox International Channels, Star HK, Discovery, AXN, HBO, MTV, and Sony Pictures Television International.

ABS-CBN shifted to Kantar Media/TNS after filing a case vs. AGB Nielsen Media Research for failing to comply with its request to investigate alleged cheating and data tampering in TV ratings. The case is still pending in court contrary to claims by GMA, which is not a party to the case, that it has been resolved.

Holy Week Quotes from the Holy Bible

Holy Week Quotes from the Holy Bible

Read these Bible verses for each day of Holy Week - from the joyous celebration of Palm Sunday to the blessed remembrance of Maundy Thursday to the somber hours of Good Friday and the triumph of Easter Morning - as part of your devotional practice.

Excerpted from Sacred Space for Lent 2009 by the Jesuit Communication Centre, Ireland.

PALM SUNDAY

Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death -  even death on a cross

Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. - Philippians 2:6-11

HOLY MONDAY

Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the nations. He will not cry or lift up his voice, or make it heard in the street; a bruised reed he will not break, and a dimly burning wick he will not quench; he will faithfully bring forth justice. He will not grow faint or be crushed until he has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands wait for his teaching. - Isaiah 42:1-4

HOLY TUESDAY

Listen to me, O coastlands, pay attention, you peoples from far away! The Lord called me before I was born, while I was in my mother’s womb he named me. He made my mouth like a sharp sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me a polished arrow, in his quiver he hid me away. And he said to me, "You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified." But I said, "I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and vanity; yet surely my cause is with the Lord, and my reward with my God." -Isaiah 49:1-4

HOLY WEDNESDAY

Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, "What will you give me if I betray him to you?" They paid him thirty pieces of silver. And from that moment he began to look for an opportunity to betray him. - Matthew 26:14-16

MAUNDY THURSDAY

After he had washed their feet, had put on his robe, and had returned to the table, he said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord—and you are right, for that is what I am. So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you. Very truly, I tell you, servants are not greater than their master, nor are messengers greater than the one who sent them." -John 13:12-16

GOOD FRIDAY

Who has believed what we have heard? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of the dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. He was depised and rejected by others; a man of suffering and acquainted with infirmity; and as one from whom others hid their faces, he was despised, and we held him of no account. Surely he has borne our infirmities and carried our diseases; yet we accounted him stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the punishment that made us whole, and by his bruises we are healed. - Isaiah 53:1-5

BLACK SATURDAY

Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore we have been buried with him by baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.

For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin. For whoever has died is freed from sin. But if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. The death he died, he died to sin, once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. -
Romans 6:3-11

EASTER SUNDAY

Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him." Then Peter and the other disciple set out and went towards the tomb. The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent down to look in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen wrappings lying there, and the cloth that had been on Jesus’ head, not lying with the linen wrappings but rolled up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; for as yet they did not understand the scripture, that he must rise from the dead. - John 20:1-9

There are times
When I just want to look at your face
With the stars in the night

There are times
When i just want to feel your embrace
On a cold night

I just can't believe
That you are mine now

You were just a dream that i once knew
I never thought i would be right for you
I just can't compare you with anything in this world
You're all i need to be forevermore

All those years
I long to hold you in my arms
I've been dreaming of you

Every night I've been watching
All the stars that fall down
Wishing you will be mine

Time and again
There are these changes that we cannot end
As sure as time keeps goin on and on
My love for you will be forevermore

As endless as forever
Our love will stay together
You are all i need to be with forevermore
(as endless as forever)
(our love will stay together)

You are all i need to be with forevermore.

Gary Valenciano Celebrates 29th Showbiz Anniversary

Gary Valenciano Celebrates 29th Showbiz Anniversary

Gary V. opens the summer season with a series of 8 concerts at the Music Museum, marking his 29th anniversary in the industry and the 25th year of his company Manila Genesis Entertainment & Management, Inc. Stricken by Type 1 juvenile diabetes for 30 years now, this unmatched performer has been a shining beacon of inspiration in the country and he remains complication-free and still, on top of his game. Gary has consistently inspired his millions of fans through his craft as a singer, musician, songwriter, video producer, dancer, actor, musical arranger and a multi-awarded television host/performer for 9 years on the undisputed top-rating musical variety show, "ASAP."

After visiting typhoon victims in Cagayan De Oro and Iligan for UNICEF, Gary V jumpstarted the year with a new segment on "ASAP 2012" entitled "With Love: Gary V" – a spin-off of his platinum CD under Star Records and his much-talked about television special which aired seven times on ABS-CBN and MYX in 2011 and twice on The Filipino Channel. The segment features Gary as he showcases stories of love, forgiveness, redemption, and faith while he sings songs that celebrate the beauty and goodness of humanity. "With Love Gary Valenciano," the CD compiles the soap opera and movie theme songs which he performed and recorded for ABS-CBN and Star Cinema. Just this March, Gary, together with the ASAP team, flew to Cagayan De Oro to shoot a video with a courageous flood victim for his segment. All these efforts let led to "On Higher Ground," a fundraiser for UNICEF and the Shining Light Foundation, two faithful partners dear to Gary V, who has been National Ambassador for UNICEF for 14 years now.

In his stellar career, one of Gary's most celebrated corporate relationships was with Coca-Cola with whom he had a contract for over ten years. Two years ago, he was tapped to launch their refreshing product, Real Leaf, and this year was invited again to record "Tuloy Ang Happiness" the 100th Year official anthem of Coca-Cola with Sarah Geronimo and Someday Dream, with powerful appearances at the Gala Night at Makati Shangrila as well as the "Concert Ng Bayan" at SM MOA last March 26.

The country is excited for Gary's much awaited return to the silver screen via an upcoming movie under Straight Shooters Media entitled "I Do Bidoo Bidoo" which he will star in together with Zsa Zsa Padilla, Eugene Domingo, Sam Concepcion, and Ogie Alcasid. He has appeared in 13 films for Regal Films, Seiko Films, Viva Films, and Star Cinema.

For his concert series at Music Museum, fans can look forward to witnessing Gary V in his best element as he performs his greatest hits as well as some of today's hottest chart-toppers, party anthems, and homegrown favorites. Fans can also expect groundbreaking and pioneering technology and excellent audio-visuals through their corporate partners Videosonic and Soundcheck.

"I'm very excited and at the same time a bit nervous because we have come up with new routines and a lot of surprises for this series," says Gary. "I am particularly excited for our opening production number. It will be awesome. I really hope it works the way I envisioned it." Gary V will be performing with two world-class musicians, Awit Awards 2008 Best Female/Best New Female Singer Julianne and Juan Miguel Salvador, formerly of Rage Band and now the musical director of Authority, which represented the country in the 2005 Global Battle of the Bands in London.

"Gary V: On Higher Ground" happens at Music Museum on April 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, and 27; and May 9 and 10. The show will be for the benefit of UNICEF and Shining Light Foundation. The show is supported by ABS-CBN, MYX, Smart, Soundcheck, Videosonic, Gold's Gym, Aficionado, Coca Cola, Goldilocks, Lee, Universal Records, Star Records, Studio V, Essensuals Toni & Guy, Fernando's, with media partners: Radio High 105.9, Crossover 105.1, Monster Radio RX 93.1, Tambayan, Magic 89.9, DZMM 630, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Philippine Star, Business World, People's Journal and People's Tonight.

"Gary V: On Higher Ground" will be directed by Gary and son Paolo Valenciano with Musical Direction by Mon Faustino. Tickets are priced at Php 3,500.00, 2,500.00, 1,500.00, 1,000.00, and 500.00.
