Bongbong Marcos Snubs 'The Jessica Soho Presidential Interviews' Because of Biased Host, GMA Network Releases Statement

GMA Network takes exception to the statement of the camp of former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. that Kapuso news pillar Jessica Soho is supposedly biased against the Marcoses, the reason for the presidential candidate to decline participation on "The Jessica Soho Presidential Interviews."

Throughout her career, Ms. Soho has consistently been named the most trusted media personality in the Philippines by both local and foreign organizations, a testament to her embodying the GMA News and Public Affairs ethos: "Walang Kinikilingan, Walang Pinoprotektahan, Serbisyong Totoo Lamang."

This same ethos has guided Ms. Soho and the whole GMA News and Public Affairs organization, which is the most trusted media organization in the Philippines, according to the University of Oxford/Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism.

It is unfortunate that Mr. Marcos has chosen to decline the invitation extended by the network to participate in "The Jessica Soho Presidential Interviews," even as four other aspirants - Sen. Panfilo Lacson, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, Sen. Manny Pacquiao, and Vice President Leni Robredo - have chosen to participate and take the opportunity to explain their advocacies to the public.

In this must-see special, Ms. Soho boldly asks the presidential aspirants the questions that need to be asked – their intentions behind running for the position, the controversies thrown at them, their stand on pressing issues and their concrete plans should they be elected. The questions are tough because the job of the presidency is tough.

We believe that this is an important exercise to inform the public about the candidates seeking their votes in Eleksyon 2022, to help them make the best, most informed choice on their ballots.

Joshua Garcia Picks Ivana Alawi in the Jojowain Challenge, Ivana Reacts

Joshua Garcia and Ivana Alawi painted the online world red on Wednesday night following their phone conversation during the “Truth or Dare” fundraising show of ABS-CBN for the victims of Typhoon Odette, via live streaming app Kumu.

When asked who among the female Kapamilya stars he wanted to be textmates with, Joshua immediately answered, “Si Ivana,” admitting that they're already textmates.

"Pero hindi kami nagka-text ng matagal. Mas tawag, mas tawag ako kesa text eh," he said.

Joshua also chose Ivana as girlfriend material in the Totropahin or Jojowain Challenge, saying “Siyempre, Jojowain. I mean, c’mon, choosy ka pa ba? Mabait, maganda, sexy.

Ivana, on the other hand, replied "Secret!" when asked by Joshua.

It will be recalled that in her recent vlog to celebrate her 2nd anniversary on YouTube, Ivana's younger sister Mona revealed that the Kapamilya sexy actress also has a big crush on Joshua.

Vivamax and Sigrid Andrea Bernardo Release Fresh and Exciting Girl Love Series "Lulu" Feat. Rhen EscaƱo and Rita Martinez

This 2022, get ready for some girl to girl romance!

Lulu”, a girl love series written and directed by the box-office director of Kita Kita, Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, is premiering on Vivamax on January 23rd, the fourth Sunday of 2022.

It introduces the fresh and exciting team-up of sultry actress Rhen EscaƱo (Adan, The Other Wife, Paraluman) as Sophie and newcomer Rita Martinez (The Voice Philippines season 2 semifinalist, LGBTQIA+ Advocate) as Abi.

Devastated by a break-up, the naturally bubbly and outspoken Sophie wants to disconnect from the world. After deactivating her social media accounts, she escapes to her beach front AirBnB house, also meaning to rehabilitate it. But everything she does is turning out to be a disaster. In fact, Sophie believes that in all her 25 years of existence, she has not done anything right. But when Abi arrives in her house and walks into her life, it all feels just right.

Abi is a 30-year-old soft butch, a talented cook, and a guitarist in an indie band. She is someone who’s got her life all planned out. But for a change, Abi goes on a journey where she just wants to be spontaneous. That is how she stumbles upon Sophie’s AirBnB. When the two meet, sparks fly and they can’t resist falling in love with each other.

Composed of eight episodes, “Lulu” will show how Sophie and Abi handle their relationship as exes come back, old pains resurface and secrets are revealed.

In an interview, Director Sigrid Andrea Bernardo shared that she had conceptualized the story of “Lulu” a long time ago and was just waiting for the right time to proceed with scriptwriting and make the story come alive on screen.

Thanks to Viva, girl love and boy love stories are not considered taboo, thus giving this award-winning writer and director the opportunity to share this realistic story and be enjoyed by open-minded viewers.

In Lulu, you’ll see a bubbly and quirky Rhen, which is very far from her sexy roles in her past projects. Director Sigrid also pointed out that “Lulu” is not heavy drama that is usually associated with lesbian love stories. It is actually a romantic comedy. Director Sigrid elaborates, “I wanted Lulu to be light. I want to focus doon sa individual struggles nila and love is secondary. And it will come naturally. Of course, we will tackle ’yong mga issues pero very, very subtle. It’s more of parang every-day life ng lesbian community.” Through this series, director Sigrid wants viewers to know the fun side of lesbian women. “Masayahin din sila,” she reiterates.

Rhen and Rita are both excited for the viewers to witness the love between Sophie and Abi. Rhen believes that there is nothing wrong with this kind of love because love knows no gender. As for Rita, she feels flattered for being given this special role. It’s no secret that she belongs to the lesbian community in real life. And just like her character Abi, she is also a chef and plays for an indie band.

Kiss N Tell Explores the Concept of Being a 'Rebound' in Sophomore Single "Lundag"

After being a finalist in HIMIG 11th edition, OPM band Kiss N Tell is ready to broaden its horizon by releasing its sophomore single “Lundag” under ABS-CBN’s rock and alternative label DNA Music.

“Lundag” is an emotional ode of someone who professes unconditional love to a special person even at the expense of suffering pain and without the security of being loved in return.

Kiss N Tell says the track verbalizes the sentiments of a ‘rebound’ in relationships. “Even just as a rebound or a wall to lean on, the person doesn't even bother thinking about the chance of being loved back, so long as the beloved is relieved of pain and suffering.”

“Lundag” was composed by band members Joshua Ortiz (rhythm guitar) and Aniceto Cabahug III (lead guitar) under the production of Gracenote’s Eunice Jorge and Velvet Playground.

Kiss N Tell is an alternative pop rock band formed in early 2019 who competed as one of the 12 finalists in ABS-CBN’s HIMIG 11th edition songwriting competition with its own composition “Pahina.”

Aside from Joshua and Aniceto, current members of the band include Lennix Purificacion (lead vocals), Arjumar Arbotante (bass guitar), Ronnel Navarro (keys), and Ernie BaƱares (drums).

After their HIMIG stint where they showcased their complex yet sophisticated songwriting, the band members officially signed under DNA Music, an ABS-CBN Music record label that aims to uplift the local bands’ industry and help rock, alternative, and reggae artists shine.

Angela Ken Gives Comfort in New Song “It’s Okay Not To Be Okay”

After debuting with her massive self-love anthem “Ako Naman Muna” last year, young folk-pop artist Angela Ken makes another bold statement this 2022 through her new single “It’s Okay Not To Be Okay.”

The singer-songwriter, who is currently gracing the cover of Spotify EQUAL Philippines playlist, talks about reassurance in her latest musical offering, which was inspired by the King of Talk Boy Abunda’s trending question in Binibining Pilipinas 2021, “When is it okay not to be okay and when is it not okay to be okay?”

The question circulated and stirred many discussions online, encouraging Boy to produce a beautiful collaboration written by Angela and ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo.

Angela’s first foray into recording, “Ako Naman Muna,” became a No.1 Global Viral Hit on Spotify, now with more than 26 million streams. It also has over 16 million combined views for its music video and lyric video visualizer on YouTube. She also recently sang “If We Fall In Love,” an official soundtrack of the digital series by ABS-CBN and iQiyi production entitled “Saying Goodbye.”

“The Broken Marriage Vow” Earns Praises and Positive Reviews from Media, Bloggers, and Fans

ABS-CBN’s “The Broken Marriage Vow” is shaping up to be a hit based on early reviews from entertainment journalists, bloggers, and fans who attended its virtual screening on KTX.PH, raising anticipation and expectations for the drama series ahead of its TV premiere on January 24.

The series garnered widespread praise for the performances of its cast, particularly its lead stars Jodi Sta. Maria and Zanjoe Marudo, as well as for the scenic shots, camera work, and the proudly Filipino outfits and dishes featured prominently in the episodes.

The Broken Marriage Vow was a visual treat,” said Kate Adajar of RandomRepublika.com. “One can tell how the details were intentionally put together. What I really liked was the Filipino touch in the setting and Jodi's outfits.

Philstar.com’s lifestyle and entertainment editor Deni Bernardo noted the “wonderful chemistry” of Jodi and Zanjoe, who play the betrayed wife and cheating husband, and said the series swept her off her feet.

The show satisfies in many levels – not only the acting but it speaks to me as a mom protective of my family, and even to my inner fashionista! It makes me proud as a Filipino to see the Filipino designers’ fabulous opuses and to see the beauty of Baguio and the Rice Terraces,” she said. “I felt that this show is also going to be something big. The cinematography is so tactile that I can feel even Baguio’s breeze from just watching it at home. This surely is looking like another world-class production we Filipinos can be proud of. Can’t wait to finish it ‘til the end!

Entertainment photographer and vlogger Allan Sancon of Stars Photog called the series “astounding” and added, “The actors are very good! It's like you're watching a movie in a cinema. Nakaka-THRILL ‘yung bawat eksena. Nakakagigil ang karakter ni Zanjoe at nakakatakot mag-imbestiga si Jodi bilang si Dr. Jill Illustre! It was fun and I’m excited to watch ‘yung mga susunod na mangyayari!

Mel Ojendras of Trending.ph, expressed his excitement for more episodes and said, “Kabog na kabog and mukhang maraming aabangang twists and revelations.. Exciting ‘to! The cinematography of this series is superb! Worth it ‘to panoorin for sure. Curious na curious na tuloy ako sa mga mangyayari sa seryeng ‘to. Kudos sa mga director and writers pati na sa lahat ng actors. Kinikilig ako sobra.”

Jayson Laluna of Certified Kapamilya, an online community of Kapamilya fans, lauded the execution and portrayal of Jodi’s character. He said, “‘Yung motivations ng character naipaintindi ng ni Ms. Jodi, ng screenplay tapos sabayan niyo pa ng music na kapit na kapit sa tono ng series.”

“The Broken Marriage Vow” tells the story of Dra. Jill Ilustre (Jodi), a dedicated wife and mother whose life turns upside down when she suspects that her husband David (Zanjoe) is having an affair. After she confirms that he is cheating on her with a much younger woman, Lexy (Sue Ramirez), Jill behaves in destructive ways that will affect the people close to her, including her son Gio (Zaijian Jaranilla), and becomes increasingly obsessed with revenge as she tries to gain back the dignity that she believes was taken away from her because of the affair.

Viewers have a chance to see the series first on iWantTFC and Viu on Saturday (January 22), 48 hours before its TV broadcast. It will be seen beginning January 24 at 8:40 PM on Kapamilya Channel, TV5, A2Z, Jeepney TV, Kapamilya Online Live on ABS-CBN Entertainment’s YouTube channel and Facebook page, and TFC.

Concepcion Macatuno and Andoy Ranay directed “The Broken Marriage Vow,” the Philippine adaptation of the hit BBC series “Doctor Foster,” for ABS-CBN.

Claudine Barretto and Mark Anthony Fernadez Reunite in Vivamax' Drama-Mystery Film "Deception"

In this world full of lies and deceit, is it safe to say that you can always trust the people dear to you? Know the truths behind the lies in this Vivamax Original Movie by Joel Lamangan - Deception, streaming exclusively on Vivamax this January 28.

Deception is a drama-mystery film starring Claudine Barretto and Mark Anthony Fernandez. It tells the story of Rose (Claudine Barretto,) a famous actress, and Jericho (Mark Anthony Fernandez,) a stunt double, who fell in love and got married. As they start their own family, they are blessed with a son and named him Thomas. From the looks of it, it was already a perfect life filled with love, but what could have been a promising future for their family starts spiraling down after Rose became convicted for killing her husband and was sentenced to ten-year imprisonment. With Rose in prison and Jericho’s death, their son is taken to an orphanage and learns to live without his parents.

As Rose’s time in prison ends, she tries to start her life anew, among them is finding and reconnecting with his estranged son, who is now a teenager. But her troubled past starts to catch up with her and reveals all the lies that go with it. She also soon finds out why her almost perfect life went crumbling down.

Deception is a reunion project of Claudine and Mark, a former couple and a love team during the ’90s. It has been 25 years since their last movie project, and when asked by the press, this former couple could not be more excited to work together again and has nothing but praises for each other, “Ang gustung-gusto ko kay Claudine, naging independent woman siya, yun ang napansin ko.” (What I like about Claudine is she became an independent woman, that’s what I’ve noticed.) says Mark, “Working with Mark is very easy, and we really have a good rapport.” Claudine says about Mark. This is also Claudine’s movie comeback after her six-year break from acting.

This film is from the award-winning director Joel Lamangan. Direk Joel, who is known to have critically-acclaimed movies like The Flor Contemplacion Story, does not doubt the film's story and its actors.
