Leading the pack for HBO in the recently concluded 74th Annual Primetime Emmy® Awards is its comedy-drama anthology series "The White Lotus," taking home 10 distinctions, including the Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series award.

Starring Murray Bartlett, Jennifer Coolidge, Connie Britton, Alexandra Daddario, Jake Lacy, and Steve Zahn, the series features various not-so-perfect experiences of guests and employees of an exclusive Hawaiian resort, the White Lotus.

Meanwhile, reclaiming the throne for Outstanding Drama Series is the award-winning HBO Original series "Succession," starring Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook, Keiran Culkin, and Outstanding Supporting Actor for a Drama Series winner Matthew Mcfayden, among others.

Created by Jesse Armstrong, who also took home the Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, "Succession" brings viewers the gut-wrenching drama surrounding the entertainment conglomerate WayStar RoyCo and its dysfunctional dynasty—with the children of business mogul Logan Roy (Cox) fighting for the rule of their family's media empire.

Raking in more wins for HBO is its coming-of-age drama series "Euphoria," receiving six awards, including the coveted Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Zendaya; and its comedy original "Hacks," with its lead star Jean Smart hailed as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

(Trailer) Filmmaker Parker Finn Says "Smile" A Horror Film That Feels Like a Panic Attack

Some horror movies aim to subtly spook audiences. Others try to make viewers squirm in their seats. But filmmaker Parker Finn had a far more ambitious goal in mind when he set out to write and direct his debut feature, Smile. “I wanted to make a movie that felt like a sustained panic attack from start to finish,” he says.

Watch the film’s featurette at https://youtu.be/-U68rvBEev4

The chilling story of a clinical psychiatrist who begins experiencing terrifying and inexplicable occurrences following a bizarre encounter with a patient, Smile was inspired by a short film Finn made in 2020. Titled Laura Hasn’t Slept, the short starred Caitlin Stasey — who also has a memorable role in Smile — and won a Special Jury Award in SXSW®’s Midnight Short category. The 11-minute film generated intense industry buzz around Finn, who successfully pitched a feature version to Paramount Pictures and producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey’s Temple Hill Entertainment.

Although drawing thematic inspiration from Laura Hasn’t Slept, Smile takes the story in a frightening new direction. Finn says he wanted to explore what it would be like to experience your mind turning against you in horrifying ways. “You know that sense of dread you feel when you wake up from a bad dream? That feeling of panicky doom that lingers with you afterwards, even though you know it wasn’t real? I wanted Smile to capture that feeling on screen.”

A lifelong fan of horror, Finn believes one of the prerequisites of the genre is characters worth caring about. “The scariest movies are the ones that work first as dramatic stories, so my goal was to create a great lead character — because if you’re invested in her, you’ll be invested in her plight,” he explains. “Then you can start layering in shocking moments that strike at the core of what the audience is afraid of, and find ways to pull the rug out from under them and subvert their expectations in terrifying ways.”

Smile centers on Dr. Rose Cotter, a dedicated psychiatrist at a public hospital whose mission is to ensure her troubled patients get the help they need. But when a malevolent evil enters Rose’s life, the tables turn and she finds herself struggling to convince her friends and family that the surreal nightmare she’s experiencing is real. As her fight for sanity and survival becomes increasingly desperate, she’s forced to investigate the bizarre mystery and piece together clues to figure out what’s happening to her.

Reflecting on his journey from short filmmaker to feature writer-director, Finn says he can’t wait to terrify legions of moviegoers around the world. “Nothing can prepare you for what happens in Smile,” he says with a mischievous grin. “It’s going to shock you, it’s going to scare you, and you’ll want to cover your eyes. It’s got big, frightening moments that will cause you to jump out of your seat, but it also leans in to this creeping sense of unease that slowly burrows its way beneath your skin. Basically, it’s a roller coaster that you’re going to want to talk about with your friends as soon as it’s over.

In cinemas across the Philippines September 28, Smile is distributed in the Philippines by Paramount Pictures through Columbia Pictures. Stronger Together with Phsyiogel: Toni Sia and Bianca Umali Share Their Self-Care Journey on Physiogel's SIS Day Out

Strong women lift each other up, and when they do, amazing things happen - an extraordinary bond called sisterhood! After years of virtual catch-ups, Physiogel took us out on a date to empower each other with its SIS Day Out, which happened last August 13 and 20.

Curated booths in the event offered sisters instant self-care experiences the whole day, and they only needed to trade in Physiogel or other skincare brands' empties to join!

This gave them VIP access to the Strength Booth, where participants styled their work OOTDs, Softness Booth which featured a journaling session, Moisture Booth for the make-up lovers, and lastly, the Cleanse Booth where a meditation session took place.

The highlight of this sisterly bonding? Truly inspiring chikahan sessions with our guest sisters! Beauty influencer Toni Sia graced the first leg in Southwoods Mall while actress Bianca Umali joined us in UP Town Center, sharing their unfiltered stories and empowering words with host Bianca Valerio. These sisters are life pegs personified, for they exude such strength in softness!

Despite always looking so put together they admitted that their journey to self-love wasn't a smooth one. Bianca only realized this when she took a short break from her work. "I'm not really malaaga sa sarili dati. But because of the pandemic, I learned how to make myself feel that I am at peace and that I am okay. So that pushed me to take care of myself". Toni candidly narrated that she started from the inside by learning how to say no. "With things that don't resonate with me, I just say no. When I feel like my intuition says that something is not meant for me, then I say no and stay firm in what I believe in.", Toni shared.

These ladies made it a point to prioritize themselves because self-care is non-negotiable! When it comes to their skin, at the top of their reco list is, of course, Physiogel. Toni makes sure to keep her skin strong from top to toe, using the Physiogel blue line on her face and the pink line on her body to help prevent flare-ups from atopic dermatitis. Bianca also revealed her weapon of choice, which is the Calming Relief Range. She even shared this discovery with her family who also has sensitive skin. "Doing what I do na nasa ilaw and I travel a lot, Physiogel made my skin calm. I'm happy I found Physiogel."

Hoping to inspire, these ladies left words of encouragement for those who are still in the process of loving themselves. "Be kind to yourself on the inside. It's time to stop sabotaging yourself and start appreciating your strength.", Toni emphasized, alluding to her newfound strength through self-care. Bianca also shared a mantra that guides her, saying that "choosing yourself is not something you should feel guilty about."

So sisters, remember that self-care is not at all selfish, and you can have Physiogel as you SIS in self-care as you get back to your now normal! Physiogel Daily Moisture Therapy and Calming Relief Range are available at Mercury Drug, Watsons, South Star Drug, Rose Pharmacy, and Physiogel Official Stores at Lazada and Shopee.

Shopee Sellers Share their e-Commerce Journey: "Live selling is crucial to the growth of our online business!"

Live selling has seen a tremendous boom in recent years as it has become a key part in enhancing the whole online shopping experience for both sellers and buyers. In time for its 9.9 Super Shopping Day, Shopee launched its first ever Shopee Live Star Seller Awards to give recognition to 99 hardworking and talented sellers who reached milestones in their online selling journey.

Shopee Live has become a platform for Shopee sellers to engage with buyers in real time and enhance their customer service experience. Sellers on the live streaming platform also have access to an array of seller tools that can maximize their streaming sessions to help increase their sales and boost customer engagement. With this, three Shopee sellers shared their personal stories on how Shopee Live helped them grow their business and more importantly, changed their lives.

It only takes a mobile phone and determination to start

Cecille, shop owner of Cilebritee and a mother of two, started live selling when she chanced upon the Shopee Live feature on the platform. “Noong nakita kong may Shopee Live button sa Shopee ko, tinesting ko lang. Hindi ako prepared. Wala akong kahit anong gamit o equipment. Ang meron lang ako ay talent sa pagtitinda at cellphone,” she shared.

When Cecille first started using Shopee Live, she sold women’s bags while sitting on the floor with her phone. She was thrilled that she sold out on her first night so she decided to keep going. From only 50 orders a night, she now gets over a thousand. Cecille shared how the Coins Giveaway feature helped her stand out and get more sales, especially during Double Day campaigns. “Tinutulungan rin ako ng Shopee Livestream team kung paano i-improve yung sales ko at maging isa sa mga top sellers.”, Cecille said.

Today, she is consistently a top performer on Shopee Live. She has her own Live Room with advanced equipment and a full livestream set-up. Cecille even manages a staff of 15 to provide them with means to generate income. “Nakakabili na kami ng mga pangangailangan namin sa pang araw-araw. Madami kaming nagagawa ngayon hindi namin magagawa kung hindi namin sinubukan ang Shopee Live.”, shared Cecille.

Making the brave decision to go online with live selling

Jeferson, shop owner of Shoppup2, transitioned from the BPO sector to being a full-time Shopee Live seller. “In 2017, I decided to resign with only ₱35,000 in my pocket. In every decision we make, we have the responsibility to face it, and it's up to us to make it work”, Jeferson shared.

He started selling women’s bags and accessories, as there was a big market for it. As years passed, he was able to grow his business and even employ more than 15 staff to help with quality control, packaging, and customer service. Even when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, it didn’t stop them and they grew their orders by the thousands.

He shared that the In-App Business Insights tool was a key feature that helped him succeed, as it helps keep track of his streams’ performance. They are able to improve on his live selling strategy to generate more orders. Another was the Chat Broadcast feature which builds excitement about the upcoming items that they can expect on his next stream.

I no longer have to worry about my bills, and I’m now more able to provide more than enough for my loved ones being the breadwinner of my family,” Jefferson shared.

Choosing to stay and grow with Shopee Live

Trixie, shop owner of Mercatofinds, took a leap of faith when she chose to become a full-time Shopee Live seller over working in Italy. “It wasn't an easy decision - never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that I could earn more online than working abroad,” Trixie shared. “I was a fresh graduate and I didn't have any experience. All I had was my love for fashion and my dreams to reach.

Months before her flight, she started selling clothes on Shopee Live, and she was surprised that her stock was sold out. As she continued selling women’s apparel on Shopee Live, she learned how to maximize its features, specifically the Polling feature, as it helps her gauge what items her customers are interested in. When her business grew, she made the choice to make a living with Shopee live, and not go abroad.

At present, Trixie now employs her own staff, has her own office space and has invested in other ventures as well. More importantly, she shared that she gets to do all of this while still being able to spend time with her family. “I cannot imagine where I'd be without Shopee, and it turned out to be the best decision of my life. Salamat, Shopee!”, she shared.

Relive Judy Ann Santos' Iconic Roles in the Latest Edition of Sagip Pelikula Spotlight Series on KTX

ABS-CBN Film Restoration pays homage to the Queen of Pinoy Soap Opera, Judy Ann Santos, in the latest installment of its Sagip Pelikula Spotlight series on KTX, featuring the streaming of the digitally restored version of her 1998 romantic film "Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay."

As Sagip Pelikula brings to today's viewers Judy Ann's best acting works in film throughout her career, let's relive some of her most notable roles that cemented her legacy as one of the country's premier actresses of all time.

1) As Anna in "Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay"

One of her most notable on-screen pairings was with the late Kapamilya heartthrob Rico Yan in Star Cinema's 1998 romance flick "Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay," directed by Rory B. Quintos.

In the film, Juday plays Anna, an advertising professional and the breadwinner of her family. She first embarked on vacation in Vigan, where she met the budding restaurateur Alex (Rico) but was marred with sour encounters. As time went by, they grew cozy in each other's company.

On her return to the city, she stumbles with Alex again, realizing they are now falling for one another. As both rekindle their spark, ambitions and personal responsibilities hinder their way in their blossoming relationship.

2) As Mara in "Mara Clara: The Movie"

Undoubtedly, her role as Mara in the long-running Kapamilya teleserye "Mara Clara" was her breakthrough for success in her illustrious showbiz career.

The film adaptation of the series of the same name still revolves around two daughters whose lives turned upside down upon their switch at birth. She portrays Mara, a loving daughter of a poverty-stricken family who was taken in as a servant for the wealthy Del Valle family. There, she crosses paths with the spoiled daughter Clara (Gladys Reyes), who always gets what she wants and considers Mara her nemesis.

Both unaware of their past, Mara and Clara were the infants uneventfully switched at birth by a hospital staff, who secretly hid a diary revealing the truth.

3) As Joey in "Isusumbong Kita sa Tatay Ko"

The Queen of Pinoy Soap Opera got to work with the industry's "Da King" of action movies, Fernando Poe Jr., in Star Cinema's box-office hit "Isusumbong Kita sa Tatay Ko."

Juday portrayed the tough-nosed unica hija of Badong (FPJ), Joey. Raised as a single child by her repairman father since the passing of his wife, Joey grew up to be like him—acting all boyish and rough with her peers. And when the going gets tough, she can always count on Badong to save the day!

4) As Cecile in "Paano ang Puso Ko?"

Judy Ann also played the role of Cecile, a young woman entangled in a love triangle between her childhood friend Ruben (Wowie de Guzman) and his cousin Jason (Rico Yan) in "Paano ang Puso Ko," which first premiered in 1997.

Later, Jason professes his affection for Cecile, and they become a couple while her best friend becomes jealous of their relationship—leading to a conflict between them and leaving her in a dilemma on whom to love.

5) As Katong in "Bakit 'Di Totohanin"

Fans of Judy Ann also clamored for her iconic pairing with the ultimate heartthrob Piolo Pascual in the early 2000s. Among their notable projects together was Star Cinema's 2001 hit "Bakit 'Di Totohanin."

She plays Katong, a fierce woman determined to win back their family's boxing gym lost in a bet as she competes in the ring against the one who won their treasured business. Training Katong to be in her best fighting shape is Paul (Piolo), who later gets knocked out in love with her.

6) As Angie in "Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo" and "Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo"

And wrapping off the list is her award-winning role as the dedicated wife Angie in "Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo," followed by "Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo," co-starring her real-life partner Ryan Agoncillo as her polar opposite husband, Jed.

Despite the stark contrast in their likes and personality, the couple impulsively decides to marry one another. But their marriage and wedded life are put to the test, with their meddling in-laws clashing with one another while dealing with their not-so-perfect relationship.

Today's audiences can catch all these movie roles from Juday in the latest edition of Sagip Pelikula Spotlight on KTX, featuring the premiere of "Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay" with a special pre-show interview with Judy Ann herself, beginning September 22 (Thursday) at 7:30 PM. Tickets are now available at https://bit.ly/KTKHonKTX for only P150.

Alongside the featured film, viewers can also watch "Mara Clara: The Movie," "Isusumbong Kita sa Tatay Ko," "Paano ang Puso Ko?," "Bakit 'Di Totohanin," "Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo" and its sequel "Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo" on-demand via KTX starting September 23 (Friday).
