‘Luv U’ to Open its First Day of Classes on February 19

With the success of “TODA Max” as the country’s no. 1 sitcom and “Goin’ Bulilit,” which is now on its seventh year, ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Comedy proudly presents its newest member “Luv U,” the comedy series that is sure to spice up the weekends of the youth.

Featured in “Luv U” are the talented former Bulilits who are now tweeners like Miles Ocampo, Angeli Gonzales, Kiray Celis, CJ Navato and Igi Boy Flores. The program also introduces young heartthrob Marco Gumabao.

I’m really honored to be part of Kapamilya Comedy’s ‘Luv U.’ This is my first ever project, so I’ll do my best,” Marco said.

Also jazzing up the stellar cast of “Luv U” are veteran comedians Joy Viado and Smokey Manaloto, together with sizzling hot babe Bangs Garcia. They are sure to give color to the lives of the six tweeners.

“LUV U” is the story of three young girls Camille (Miles), Whitney (Kiray) and April (Angeli), who just transferred to Lamberto Uy Villarama University, or Luv U to finish High School there, where they will also experience about the highs and lows of young love.

It all started when they caught the attention of JB (Marco), Boom (CJ) and Rocky (Igiboy) on their very first day at Luv U. And despite the strict warning of their grandma Lola Paula (Joy), Camille and her cousins continue to pursue the path to teen romance. With all the courtships and attempts on their first kiss, the six teen students will learn a very valuable lesson in life—that you cannot get all straight A’s in love.

In an interview, Miles said she’s ready for the new role and excited for the project because she herself enjoys high school life.

“The program will really make us laugh, but it will also teach a lot of lessons. Young people out there can really relate with this.” Miles said.

Miles added that she’s indebted to Goin’ Bulilit, where she started doing comedy. “Direk Bobot Mortiz didn’t only train us to be good actors, he also instilled in us values that can be helpful in our careers.”

Meanwhile, besides Miles, Kiray, CJ and Igiboy of “LUV U,” and most talked about teen stars Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes, a lot of talented child stars are yet to be honed by “Goin’ Bulilit” and will be part of future Kapamilya shows.

Robin, Vhong, Pokwang and Angel’s Friendship Strengthened via ‘TODA Max’

A few months after ABS-CBN’s flagship sitcom "TODA Max" was launched, it didn’t only become no. 1 in the ratings game, it has also strengthened the friendship of action superstar Robin Padilla, hailed comedy prince Vhong Navarro, seasoned comedienne Pokwang and drama princess Angel Locsin.

The four said that in the few months of working together, they have already created countless memories to cherish. Their characters in the sitcom may sometimes have a hard time settling their differences, but their real camaraderie tells otherwise. They really enjoy the company of each other.

Besides their harmonious working relationship, they are also proud of each others’ achievements. Vhong is a now noontime show host of “It’s Showtime.” Robin also embarks on a new teleserye entitled “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw” with Queen of All Media Kris Aquino and Anne Curtis, while Angel is launching her new movie “Unofficially Yours” and Pokwang recently starred in acclaimed films.

Of course, we’re very happy. We’re thankful to ABS-CBN for letting us explore not only comedy, but also drama and other TV genres,” Robin said.

Vhong, on the other hand, didn’t expect that besides starring in top-rating “TODA Max,” he’ll also be given a chance to host the Kapamilya network’s new big project “It’s Showtime.” He considers this blessing another dream come true.

My dream is only to become dancer. To become host of a noontime show is something I never thought of,” he said.

As Angel’s relationship with the athlete she’s dating goes strong, her bonding with co-stars in “TODA Max” also gets tighter. She said that the sitcom paved way to reveal her funny side.

For Pokwang, if she has her recently built mansion, she also has Beverly Gil’s as her second home, as her co-stars and the members of the production team are like a family.

Meanwhile, in its new season, “TODA Max” will make more people happy, as it intensifies its comedy offering.

“TODA Max” also remains undisputed in its timeslot. According to the data from Kantar Media last Saturday (February 4), it got 13.2 % TV rating, which is higher than the 11.5% and 3.6% of the competing stations’ public service programs.

Catch “TODA Max,” after “Maalaala Mo Kaya” on ABS-CBN. For more updates, logon to http://twitter.com/abscbndotcom.

Valley Fault System - 2 Schools Found to be Built on West Valley Line

Quezon City officials are studying the possible relocation of 2 public schools that were discovered to be built on top of the West Valley Fault Line (formerly known as the Marikina Valley Fault Line), which experts believe is ripe for a new movement.

Elmo San Diego, head of the Quezon City Department of Public Order and Safety, said Silangan Elementary School and Batasan Elementary School lie on top of the West Valley fault line, which has been dormant for about 200 years.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the 20 to 25-kilometer West Valley fault line ends at the boundary of Quezon City, and San Mateo and Rodriguez, Rizal.

Phivolcs Direcor Renato Solidum said the fault line system is already past its dormant phase, and is now ripe for another movement.

"Naabot na niya 'yung minimum na pahinga at baka gumalaw na," Solidum told dzMM.

San Diego also noted that aside from the 2 schools, several mansions had been built on top of the fault line.

Negros Quake Death Toll Reaches 48, Survivors Beg for Help

The death toll from the magnitude 6.9 quake that hit Negros Oriental Monday, February 6, as of yesterday, February 8, reached 48 while 92 are still missing according to Col. Francisco Zosimo Patrimonio Jr., commander of the Army’s 302nd Brigade based in the province.

The official death toll from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, (NDRRMC) however, is lower, at 22, including seven new fatalities.

NDRRMC Executive Director Benito Ramos, who is in Negros Oriental, said the seven new fatalities died in hospitals where they were brought after they were pinned down by collapsed walls.

Ramos also said the number of missing remain at 71 – mostly victims of landslides in Guihulngan City, which is near the epicenter of the quake, and La Libertad town.

Meanwhile, survivors begged rescuers to keep searching for dozens of people buried in landslides, but officials said hopes of finding them alive were dim.

Please do not give up, please continue searching,” 47-year-old housewife Virginsita Magalso whose 68-year-old mother, an older brother, his wife, and their two young children were among those buried when part of a hill collapsed on homes in the farming community of La Libertad on Negros.

We can still save them, miracles happen all the time.”

Guihulngan Mayor Ernesto Reyes said the mountain village in Guihulngan was buried under about 10 meters (30 feet) of debris, with rescue efforts painfully slow because people had only picks, shovels and their bare hands to claw through the dirt.

Roads and bridges to Guihulngan, a coastal city of about 100,000 flanked by mountains, were badly damaged in the quake, meaning rescuers had difficulties bringing in earth movers and supplies for survivors.

Our immediate concern now is how to serve the living. We don’t have enough food, there is no electricity and water,” Reyes said.

We are appealing for help from everyone.”

Roel Degamo, the governor of Negros Oriental province where the worst of the damage occurred, said the likelihood of finding anyone alive was very low.

We are in a state of shock, and all we can do now for those still missing is to pray,” Degamo said.

The Good Daughter Starring Kylie Padilla Premieres Monday on GMA Afternoon Prime

Moving beyond the shadow of her famous actor-dad, Kylie Padilla has started to carve a name in the industry all on her own.

Her first solo project, Blusang Itim, was such a success that GMA-7 is once again banking on the pretty and talented young star as she topbills the new afternoon drama, The Good Daughter. The program will premiere on February 13 after Kokak on GMA Afternoon Prime.

In her new project, Kylie plays Bea, a sweet yet assertive teenager who meets a turning point in her life when her mother dies and her father marries someone she disapproves of. As she learns of her stepmother’s true intentions, Bea is forced to reveal a tougher side to her personality and fight for the sake of her family.

Kylie prepared long and hard for her new show clocking in long hours in workshops and internalizing her role as Bea. But despite the pressure, Kylie, who just turned 19 last January 25, is thankful for this opportunity and embraces the challenges and pressure that comes with being a full-fledged drama actress.

She is joined by a pool of reputable actors led by Raymond Bagatsing who plays the role of Rico, Bea’s father and owner of a successful coffee shop business; Alicia Mayer as Sharon, Rico’s first love and Bea’s step-mother; and Glydel Mercado as Tina, Bea’s mother, who will suffer a painful death in the story.

Playing equally challenging roles are Rocco Nacino as Darwin, Sharon’s son from her first husband and Bea’s love interest; LJ Reyes as Frances, Darwin’s sister and another villain in the story; Angelie Nicole Sanoy as Julia, Sharon’s daughter with Rico, who holds the key to the real reason behind Tina’s death; and introducing the newest Kapuso actress, Max Collins, who will play an important role as Ziri, Bea’s best friend and the third person in the love triangle with Bea and Darwin.

Completing the cast are Dion Ignacio as Paul, Frances’ submissive boyfriend; Ervic Vijandre as Mario, an aspiring model and a barista at Rico’s cafe; and Ms. Luz Valdez as Lola Lourdes, Bea’s doting grandmother.

In The Good Daughter, Bea (Kylie Padilla) seems to have the perfect life - having a family who adores and provides her every need--until a woman named Sharon (Alicia Mayer) and her 10-year-old daughter Julia (Angelie Nicole Sanoy) appear at her 18th birthday party and introduce themselves as her father’s (Raymond Bagatsing) second family.

Distraught, Bea’s mother Tina (Glydel Mercado) leaves the venue of the party in tears and unfortunately meets an accident when an explosion takes place in the building, which also puts at risk Sharon and Julia.

While Tina agonizes in pain, Sharon sees this as an opportunity to replace the former in Rico’s life leading her to kill Tina. As Bea weeps for her mother’s demise, she puts the blame on her father, who is then being pressured by Sharon to marry her or else she and her daughter will leave the country for good. Rico, torn between Bea’s disapproval and the possibility of building a new family with Sharon, eventually gives in to Sharon’s demands.

As Sharon assumes the role of Rico’s new wife, her true colors further surface as she mistreats Bea behind Rico’s back. Feeling helpless and alone more than ever, Bea runs away from home and travels to her grandmother’s province.

However, as Bea begins to find comfort in the arms of her Lola Lourdes (Luz Valdez), she discovers that her father is gravely ill and that Sharon has started to take over the company. More than that, she uncovers more of her stepmother’s evil deeds, including the real reason why her mother died, prompting her to return home and reunite with her father.

As she comes to face with the woman who has done her family wrong, how will Bea protect her father and the business that is also rightfully hers? Can peace still be restored in a home that was once shattered by dishonesty and spite?

The Good Daughter is another premium creation by the GMA Drama Group headed by GMA VP for drama Lilybeth G. Rasonable, AVP for Drama Redgie Acuña Magno and Program Manager Helen Rose S. Sese. Katrina Halili Offers a Different Kind of Massage in GMA’s ‘Spooky Valentine’

This Saturday, February 11, Katrina Halili, Paolo Contis and Antonio Aquitaña will star in GMA-7′s “Spooky Valentine presents Masahista,” airing after Manny Many Prizes.

When people talk about “stress relievers” these days, medications only rank second to a hard and soothing massage, which is readily available in the hundreds of spas and massage parlors marking the Metro Manila landscape. People come to these places to unwind and de-stress. But what if you’d find out that the masseuse, who’s giving you a gentle rub, is a vengeful ghost with a gloomy past?

This Saturday, Katrina Halili, Paolo Contis and Antonio Aquitaña will give a “spooky” twist to the usually relaxing massage in Spooky Valentine presents “Masahista.”

Antonio Aquintaña portrays the character of Patrick, a massage-parlor owner, who meets an accident that would render him suffering from locunar amnesia. After being discharged from the hospital, he resumes work at the massage parlor hoping that this would aid in his recovery. But just as he thinks everything in his life is falling back into place, something strange happens: a ghost of a beautiful woman frequently appears to him, seemingly wanting to reveal to him something. Ripped off his memories, Patrick couldn’t comprehend that the ghost was that of Noemi (Katrina Halili), a former masseuse who worked at his parlor. Noemi and Patrick’s womanizing brother Mike (Paolo Contis) have had an affair until one day, it took a tragic end. As Patrick recovers his memory, he begins to solve the puzzle, piece by piece.

Find out how this strange story unfolds on Spooky Valentine presents “Masahista”, this Saturday, February 11, after Manny Many Prizes on GMA-7.

Grace Lee Chosen as Bench Newest Endorser

Korean DJ-TV host Grace Lee is also now a product endorser.

President Noynoy's rumored girlfriend is the newest well-known personality to ever endorse the world-class local clothing brand "Bench". She now joins Piolo Pascual, Angelica Panganiban, Richard Gutierrez, Dingdong Dantes, Lovi Poe, Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson, Carla Abellana, Richard Gomez, Lucy Torres, andKris Aquino in the long list of the most credible local endorsers.

"Of course, it's an honor for me. For them to get me as an endorser is a privilege." she said.

But before anyone thinks it might have something to do with her involvement with President Noynoy, Lee already clarified that Bench had been planning to get her even before it was reported that she was seeing the President.

Startalk Wins Against Showbiz Inside Report

Despite the launch of ABS-CBN's newest investigative showbiz-oriented talk show "Showbiz Inside Report", GMA-7's longest running and trusted showbiz authority "Startalk" continues to reign on its timeslot.
