Arjo Atayde Topbills International Project Called “The Rebirth of the Cattleya Killer”

The world will once again witness the world-class talent of Filipinos in the newest international project of ABS-CBN that will star 2020 Asian Academy Creative Awards Best Actor Arjo Atayde.

Director Ruel S. Bayani, head of ABS-CBN International Production and Co-Production division, announced that Arjo will lead the all-star cast of their upcoming series titled "The Rebirth of the Cattleya Killer."

"The Rebirth of the Cattleya Killer" is based on the 1996 Star Cinema movie "Sa Aking Mga Kamay," which is about a serial killer preying on unfaithful wives previously portrayed by Aga Muhlach.

Ruel said Arjo is the best choice to lead the series, which will start filming this year.

"He has a proven track-record of giving justice to the diverse roles he has portrayed through the years. His depth and range as an actor will definitely give a fresh take on this 1996 classic," he said.

"First of all, ABS-CBN never fails to surprise me all the time with all these characters. It's one hell of a story. It's one hell of a character, and it's not normally done here. This is one of the most powerful stories that they're gonna remake. I am proud to be part of it. Hopefully, the Cattleya Killer could be one if not the possible door to ABS-CBN stepping into the foreign industry," shared Arjo, who last brought pride to the country with his performance in the critically-acclaimed iWantTFC original series "Bagman."

"The Rebirth of the Cattleya Killer" will be directed by award-winning filmmaker Dan Villegas, and helmed by the same local producers of "Almost Paradise," the first U.S. TV series entirely shot in the Philippines co-produced by ABS-CBN and Hollywood's Electric Entertainment.

"The Rebirth of the Cattleya Killer" is also one of the chosen participants in the 2021 Full Circle Series Lab, a talent development program led by Matthieu Darras and Izabela Igel with the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP). It was selected alongside concepts from other countries in Southeast Asia.

Ogie Alcasid’s One Big Wish Comes True

Ogie Alacasid’s wish to be a guest host in “It’s Showtime” came true as he was welcomed by the program’s hosts last Saturday (October 2).

The Kapamilya singer-host shared that he has been longing to join the hosts of “It’s Showtime” and not just be a hurado in “Tawag ng Tanghalan.”

Kapag nandoon ako sa hurado, nabibitin ako. Gusto ko rin makipagsayawan,” he said.

Ogie’s humor and antics blended well with the other hosts. Amy Perez was happy that she is not the only “senior” host of the program.

Vhong Navarro noticed how Ogie was struggling to keep up with the instructions of the staff during the Madlang Pi-poll’s portion.

Ogie said, “Ang daming nangyayari. Nalilito ako. Ang daming ilaw. Sige lang, nagpapadala lang ako sa hangin,” natatawang sambit into.”

Nonetheless, Ogie’s hosting stint drew praises from netizens on social media, who not only commended him but also shared that they want him to be a mainstay of the program.

Jayda’s MV for “M.U.” and “What If We Were” Enter International Film Festival Manhattan NYC 2021

Two music videos of Kapamilya singer-songwriter Jayda have qualified as official selections under the Best Music Video category of the International Film Festival Manhattan (IFFM) Autumn 2021.

These videos marked Jayda’s venture into directing, with “Paano Kung Naging Tayo?” serving as her directorial debut while the “M.U. (Malabong Usapan)” music video was her co-directing project with Edrex Clyde Sanchez.

On Instagram, the Star Magic artist and RISE Artists Studio talent thanked her label Star Music and ABS-CBN Music head Roxy Liquigan saying, “Thank you for your belief in me and for giving me a chance and platform to expand my creative horizons and to keep challenging myself as an artist and a creator!”

The “Paano Kung Naging Tayo?” MV, with almost 1 million views on YouTube, features former “PBB: Otso” housemate Rhys Miguel. Jayda’s close friend Francine Diaz co-starred with her in the MV for “M.U. (Malabong Usapan),” now with 661,000 views on YouTube.

The two tracks are also part of her eight-track debut album released last June titled “Bahagi.”

The IFFM is an independent film festival in New York City in the U.S. that prides itself in offering a quality selection of world-class films that “encompasses all different genres including narrative features, documentaries, shorts, and student films from all over the world.”

This year’s IFFM Autumn Festival screening will be held online from Oct. 14 to 17 and live on Oct. 16 at the Producers Club in New York City.

METRO's New Show Hosted by Dr. Rica Cruz to Tackle Relationships and Intimacy

Coldplay and BTS Make History! "My Universe" is World's New No. 1 Hit

Coldplay and BTS collaborative single "My Universe" is the world's latest No. 1 hit as it rocketed straight to the top of the Billboard Global 200.

Released worldwide on September 24, the English-Korean track earned 95.4 million plays and sold 142,400 units during its first week. "My Universe" is BTS' sixth leader on the list, extending their record as the artist with most No. 1 titles.

In the United States, "My Universe" made a historic debut on the Hot 100 chart after gaining 11.5 million U.S streams, tallied 5.5 million radio airplay audience impressions, and sold 127,000 units (downloads and physical singles) during the September 24-30 tracking period.

The song marked Coldplay's second Hot 100 leader following "Viva La Vida" in 2008 and BTS' sixth.

RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, who scored their first No. 1 in September 2020, managed to achieve their chart-toppers in just a little over a year, pulling the quickest accumulation of six No. 1 hits since The Beatles.

Of the 1,129 songs that topped the all-encompassing list, “My Universe” is only the 57th to open at No. 1.

BTS, who has logged five No. 1 debuts, now ties with music royalties Drake and Ariana Grande as the artist with the most Hot 100 hits that secured the top spot within its first week.

“My Universe” also blasted straight to the highest tier of the Digital Song Sales chart, replacing the septet's dance-pop "Butter."

Scoring around 127,000 downloads, the collaborative piece bagged the biggest sales debut since the South Korean act's "Permission to Dance," which sold about 140,100 copies.

The love anthem is the Bangtan boys' ninth No. 1, stretching their reign as the group with most tracks that ruled the list.

"My Universe," brings BTS' total frames at No. 1 on the purchase-only chart to 44, tying with Taylor swift as the artist with most weeks spent dominating the ranking.

The song likewise boasted impressive figures in other countries.

With the exception of U.S sales, the song clinched an estimated total of 90,500 downloads from different areas, topped the iTunes chart in at least 90 territories, including Japan, Canada, the Philippines, United Kingdom, and UAE.

The title was also among the leaders on music sharing platforms boasting some 84.4 million streams.

“My Universe” is the 10th track in Coldplay’s forthcoming album, "Music of the Spheres," set to drop on October 15.

The collaboration also made its debut on top of the Rolling Stone Top 100 chart — a first for both Coldplay and BTS on the ranking that measures the most popular songs of the week in the US.

To date, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are the only Koreans that have managed to accomplish the historic feat on the chart.

Much love was exchanged between fans and some of the biggest K-Pop stars as the much-awaited virtual K-culture gathering returned in KCON:TACT HI 5. We are happy to perform it here,” they told their fans.

Meanwhile, ITZY sang fan favorites “LOCO,” “SoooLucky,” Tennis,” and “In The Morning,” and had an amazing time interacting with their MIDZY fans. During their performance, they also met Daisy, a fan from the Philippines, who owns an amazing collection of ITZY posters and merch proudly displayed on her room’s wall. Later, Yeji, who happens to be Daisy’s favorite member, accepted a special request to sing a few lines from the song “WhenThe Rain Stops” by Korean singer Wendy.

Apart from the concert performances, KCON also held fun and interactive meet-and-greet events. Hosted by Lee Gwikang, THE BOYZand ONF played a variety of parlor games and exchanged messages with their fans through the KCON chatroom. iQiyi Releases its Strongest Anime Offerings this Q4 2021

Leading Asian entertainment streaming platform iQiyi continues to expand its range of quality content with a fresh slate of anime available on demand. In the first 9 months of 2021 to date, iQiyi’s anime content drove strong viewership across Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Anime content exceeded 650 million views with almost 95 million cumulative hours watched. 

iQiyi announced its year-end anime slate led by the popular Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc, My Hero Academia films, as well as Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Asakusa Arc and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tsuzumi Mansion Arc movies. In the supernatural genre, horrifying yet heartwarming developments in The Vampire Dies in No Time, starring the weakest vampire in history, and Mieruko-chan with terrifying spirits will leave viewers wanting more! The Vampire Dies in No Time is dubbed by legendary voice actors Jun Fukuyama (Assassination Classroom) and Makoto Furukawa (One Punch Man), where vampire hunter Ronaldo arrives at the castle of Dralc, who is rumored to be invincible, and finds out that Dralc can instantly be defeated and turns into dust! Adapted from the popular manga, Mieruko-chan tells the tale of Miko, whose resolve to be indifferent towards the supernatural is challenged when her friend Hana naturally attracts ghosts and wannabe-exorcist Yuria is constantly around her.

In addition, senior-junior office romance series My Senpai Is Annoying and Taisho Otome Fairy Tale with its arranged marriage storyline, will satisfy fans of romantic tales. Nameless Kids Released "Shoes Out The Door!" Consists of Six Original Tracks

Indie pop band Nameless Kids has released “Shoes Out The Door!,” their debut EP featuring six original tracks written and produced by the members and released under ABS-CBN’s DNA Music.

The EP’s title “Shoes Out The Door!” was inspired by the group’s custom of leaving their shoes out the door of Nhiko’s studio - a symbol that they attribute to being “on air” or “in the zone” as musicians and as a band.

In a recent MYXclusive interview, the promising band discussed the process of creating this huge milestone which they completed almost a year ago.

Sobrang happy kami kasi nga we consider this EP as our first baby as a band. I think with everyone naman, putting out your first is always the best feeling, like debuting 'yung brainchild mo. To us it signifies the first actual milestone that we had as a band,” keyboardist and vocalist Nhiko Sabiniano said.

Leading the track list of the mini album is “Habits,” a captivating jam oozing with melodic riffs about breaking the cycle of a toxic relationship before losing oneself. Other new songs include “’Til Love Means Love” which argues that love is subjective, and “Faded,” about falling for the idea of someone rather than the actual person.

Previously released singles of the five-piece band reminiscent of late ‘90s summers “Outlaws,” “Wanna Know Me,” and “Midsummer High” are also part of the EP.

Aside from Nhiko, Nameless Kids is composed of Kyle Perry (guitar), Kim Allen (guitar), Tati De Mesa (bass), and Imay Alconaba (drums). During the MYX Awards 2021, they performed their single “Outlaws.” They are also set to headline the September 28 (Tuesday) episode of ABS-CBN Music, ABS-CBN Events, and One Music PH’s “The Music Room” series.
