TV5 Launches 2021 Station ID “Iba sa 5” feat. New Kapatid Stars, New Shows, New Home for Creatives

At a time when most have been forced to shut themselves in and many businesses have had no choice but to close down, TV5 has redefined television dynamics by opening their doors to talents and creatives from different networks and giving them a new home. "Iba sa 5," TV5's station ID features the different celebrities and diverse personalities who now thrive on the channel.

Among the slew of stars seen in the video are Maja Salvador, Noel Comia Jr., Empoy Marquez, Billy Crawford, Matteo Guidicelli, Maine Mendoza, Paolo Ballesteros, Cristine Reyes, Herbert Bautista, McCoy de Leon, Randy Santiago, K Brosas, Rey Valera, Alex Gonzaga, Xian Lim, Yassi Pressman, John Estrada, Ellen Adarna, Jay-R, Luchi Cruz-Valdes, Cheryl Cosim, Gretchen Ho, Marga Vargas, Paolo Bediones and Raffy Tulfo. They, and many more, have all come together to produce quality entertainment that brings joy to the viewers.

The station ID features a catchy jingle composed by Jeff Arcilla, the man behind "Apat na Buwang Pasko" and the original singer of the World Youth Day Song, "Tell the World of His Love." TV5's highly sing-along-able tune is upbeat and cheerful, to evoke how TV5 is the Filipinos' happy place, where they can take a fun break from the challenges of the current situation.

The new line, "Iba sa 5," doesn't just mean offering something different, but something for different kinds of people. The ad agency, Grey Philippines, spent months collaborating with TV5 executives to develop a reinvigorated campaign that conveys the channel's new thrust. Dino Laurena, Chief Operating Officer of Media5, explains, "The concept behind it is to showcase the wide range of programs and genres that TV5 now provides the Filipino audience. Since TV5's transition back to entertainment, it has now become a one-stop channel for all types of content - dramas, gameshows, talent shows, variety, movies, series, news, and sports. Viewers can just tune in to TV5 and find all these there."

Whether solo binge-watching with a bucket of popcorn, having a barkada sports night, or spending a relaxing Sunday with the whole family, TV5 caters to audiences of all demographics. Those who always want to be in the know can get their first dose of the day's news from Frontline sa Umaga, then be the first to get the information they need from the earliest primetime news program, Frontline Pilipinas.

Because Pinoys are known for their love of both music and comedy, they can sing and laugh in equal measure, with the videoke kantawanan ng bansa, Sing Galing. And for feel-good vibes and maximum kilig, there are lighthearted dramas from here and abroad.

Some of the other programs' Filipinos can enjoy now or look forward to are:

Niña Niño – A dramedy series about two siblings leading a life of petty crime to survive, who eventually discover redemption in the form of a life-changing miracle.

Rolling In It Philippines – The local edition of one of the UK's most popular game shows, where contestants team up with celebrities for a shot at the ultimate cash prize.

PoPinoy – This cutting-edge talent show will follow the entire journey of boy bands & girl groups, as they train to become worthy of bringing Pinoy Pop to the global stage.

Puto – Herbert Bautista, who played the hero puto vendor from the hit '80s movie, returns—30 years later! He's now father to Uno, a bullied teen who realizes he is half-dwende.

Di Na Muli – This romantic drama, top-billed by Julia Barretto, follows the story of a young woman with the ability to see the lifespan of people whenever she holds their hands.

Aside from these original new programs, TV5 is reaching out to an even wider audience by allowing fans of ABS-CBN shows Ang Probinsiyano, ASAP Natin 'To, and FPJ Da King, to continue watching their old favorites, as well as watch its new dramas Huwag Kang Mangamba, and Init sa Magdamag!

Sports has long been one of TV5's strengths, and now there's all the more reason for sports fans to tune in. After a brief hiatus due to the pandemic, the country's #1 sport is back, as TV5 airs the two top basketball leagues - PBA and NBA.

Laurena encapsulates the channel's campaign: "Iba-iba ang mapapanood mo dito. Iba-ibang viewers ang mag-e-enjoy dito. Iba-iba rin ang mga artista at content creator na makikita mo dito."

Emphasizing the network's open call for other artists and production houses to come and create magic with TV5, he reiterated, "We have said this before—our doors are open to those who want to work with us. Our collaborations with great artists and creative minds in the industry allow us to offer something fresh, new, and unexpected. That is what makes us truly IBA."

Jayda Releases New Song “M.U.”

Jayda makes a bold statement against lack of label in relationships in her latest single "M.U.," released under Star Music.

"M.U." is a colloquial acronym that stands for 'Malabong Usapan,' and is the focal point of the song which addresses the importance of asserting security in a romantic relationship.

"'M.U.' is about knowing what you want, what you deserve, knowing your worth and what you DON'T want in a relationship. It's all about wanting clarity," Jayda stressed.

The pop-infused track is a new writing collaboration between the Kapamilya singer-songwriter and her father Dingdong Avanzado, whom she also worked with for her "Paano Kung Naging Tayo?" single released last February. She also co-produced "M.U." with ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo.

Meanwhile, the music video for the self-empowering track featuring Francine Diaz was released last May 17, which Jayda co-directed with Edrex Clyde Sanchez. The multifaceted artist previously made her directorial debut for the music video of "Paano Kung Naging Tayo?" which featured former "Pinoy Big Brother: Otso" housemate Rhys Miguel.

As one of the country's new breed of OPM singer-songwriters, Jayda is set to stage her first-ever major concert on June 26 (Saturday) with a re-run on June 27 (Sunday) via KTX.ph, iWanTTFC, and TFC IPTV. Tickets are still available on the aforementioned platforms for only P499.

B. Braun Philippines Supports Employees through Free Vaccination Program

The world was at a standstill back in 2020 due to the coronavirus disease and a lot of pharmaceutical companies worked round the clock to produce the most effective vaccines to fight COVID-19. At the start of the year 2021, after a thorough process of procuring the vaccines, the Philippines was set to roll out its vaccination program with the theme, "RESBAKUNA: Kasangga ng BIDA".

B. Braun Philippines, one of the leading local multinational companies in the nation with almost 900 employees, has committed to be part of this program by vaccinating its employees for free. Because it is the organization's vision to protect and improve the health of people around the world, they believe that they should protect their people first so they could serve their patients better.

These lectures also included open forum or Q&A sessions with the specialists to help the employees gravitate towards safety and compliance in health and safety protocols. An internal survey was also conducted in which 82% expressed their willingness to be vaccinated within the year.

As of writing, more than 50% of the company's total number of employees had their first dose already, the majority of which are healthcare workers employed by the company. B. Braun Philippines' goal is to get at least 70% of employees. This has resulted to positive notion to the employees that most of them wished to get inoculated soon.

When asked why most of the employees changed their minds, most of them said that their primary motivation was the protection of their family and loved ones as well as to reduce chances of getting sick so that they will always be present to provide quality care for their patients.

The COVID-19 journey was not easy for everyone but B. Braun Philippines believes that with proper preparation and information dissemination to its employees, they can contribute to the fight against the COVID-19 disease and they can continue serving its partners and patients in the country.

Eula Valdez Fakes Miracle for the Camera

Faith healer Deborah (Eula Valdes) has resorted to spectacle and theatrics to prove she is the messenger of God by performing a fake miracle in the inspirational series “Huwag Kang Mangamba,” which airs weeknights on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and TV5.

While raising her hands in prayer, Deborah seemingly made rose petals rain down from the sky as unsuspecting devotees rejoiced in tears. Unbeknown to them, Deborah staged the act with Mayor Simon (Nonie Buencamino), who rented a machine to make the fake miracle happen.

The spectacle went as smoothly as planned because journalist Eva (Mylene Dizon) arrived at the scene just in time to film it on camera.

While Deborah continues to fool her devotees, Mira and Joy (Andrea Brillantes at Francine Diaz) have been humiliated on national TV by Eva’s expose about their failure to make Bro talk to them in front of other people.

How will Mira and Joy mend their reputation when they appear to have lied?

Gain inspiration from “Huwag Kang Mangamba,” airing weeknights on the Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, TV5, Kapamilya Online Live, iWantTFC, WeTV, and iflix. Viewers outside of the Philippines can also catch it on The Filipino Channel on cable and IPTV.

"My Roommate Is a Gumiho" Premieres May 26 on iQiyi with Same Day, Same Time Simulcast in Korea

After the love between Jun Ji-hyun and the alien Kim Soo Hyun in My Love from the Star took Asia by the storm, the Korean legendary creature “Gumiho” (Nine-tailed fox) falls in love with a girl 977 years younger than him in iQiyi’s first K-drama series My Roommate Is a Gumiho

Adapted from 9.9 score popular Korean webtoon, the upcoming series features Jang Ki-yong that perfectly embodies the mythical character. After her appetite creates a big trouble, is marriage the only solution for Lee Hye-ri?

My Roommate Is a Gumiho, an original K-drama series adapted from the 9.99 score popular Korean webtoon, stars Jang Ki-yong, who debuted in IU’s music videos, and Lee Hye-ri (Reply 1988). The series tells the story about a “Gumiho” (Nine-tailed fox) Shin Woo-yeo that has lived in the human world for hundreds of years. Right before he can permanently turn into a human, his fox beads are swallowed by Lee Dam in an accident. Forced to live together for a solution, they set many rules for cohabitation to live their lives. It becomes a new romance between human and non-human.

In private, Lee Hye-ri is as straightforward as the character Lee Dam, and enjoys food as much as she wants. However, her appetite ultimately brings her troubles, even a forced marriage. Lee recently did a photoshoot with Jang Ki-yong for a magazine. With great chemistry in photos, many fans are worried that Lee’s real boyfriend Ryu Jun-yeol will be envious, and look forward to their romance in the series. After My Love from the Star years ago, this will be the most groundbreaking romantic comedy that will be known across Asia.

Start-Up alumni Kang Han Na and Kim Do Wan also star in My Roommate is a Gumiho. In the story, Yang Hye-sun (Kang Han-na) is another nine-tailed fox who has transformed into a human five years ago. This character is 200 years younger than Shin Woo-yeo, and is hurt emotionally by past experiences. While Kang often portrays aggressive and fierce career women in the past, she will need to decide whether to embrace true love. Kim Do-wan has delivered impressive performances over the past five years. His role, Do Jae-jin, is a good friend of Lee Dam, and always gets lost in love. Starting his career in web series, Bae In-hyuk plays Gye Sun-woo, a handsome and wealthy man that has a crush on Lee Dam after pretending to like her in the first place.

What’s a “Gumiho” (Nine-tailed fox): The term “Gumiho” means “Nine-tailed fox” in Korean and has long been a legendary figure in Korea. It appears in historical records in Samguk sagi and Samguk yusa during the Goryeo period (918-1392). Over the years, many television series have included this creature. Legends say that nine-tailed foxes transform into humans to seduce married men, so this character has always been played by actresses, until Lee Dong-wook in Tale of the Nine Tailed. As Jang Ki-yong interprets this creature in a comedy, it will once again overturn some stereotypes.

iQiyi International’s first original K-drama series, My Roommate Is a Gumiho, will premiere Wednesday May 26 at 21:30 / 9:30pm SGT with new episodes Wednesdays and Thursdays simulcast with Korea - the same day, the same time!

SKY and Swiss game developer, N-Dream lets SKY Fiber subscribers nationwide add gaming to their entertainment choices for the family as they are now entitled to six months of free premium subscription to AirConsole Hero starting May 18, 2021.

SKY has decided to join AirConsole on its mission to bring happiness into every household. SKY, being an innovative company in the Philippine market and relentlessly searching ways to improve their offerings in terms of entertainment, it made a lot of sense to us to work together to provide these games to all its subscribers,Anthony Cliquot, Chief Operating Officer & Strategic Partnership Development of Airconsole said.

The first of its kind in the Philippines, AirConsole will excite casual gamers as it offers multiplayer games and serves as an online cross-platform video game console that transforms mobile phones as gamepads and computer web browsers, Android TVs, or SKY Evo as the main screen.

AirConsole's edge over other online multiplayer gaming platforms is that any person aged 6 to 90 years old can play a game on AirConsole without asking how it works, according to Cliquot.

If users wish to unlock premium features of the platform, such as access to all games, unlimited players, no ad breaks, and unique in-game content, they just simply have to subscribe to AirConsole Hero, which is priced at P249 a month but is FREE for all SKY Fiber subscribers for 6 months starting this May 18.

Aside from recently upgrading our speeds at affordable prices, we want to continuously level up our subscribers’ digital lifestyle by partnering with AirConsole Hero. In this way, SKY Fiber subscribers can gather their family and friends, choose from over 160 online games, and play at fiber-fast speeds. This will help them in creating stronger bonds at home during the new normal,Alan Supnet, SKY’s head for Consumer Broadband Products said.
