GMA Network Heats Up Summer with its Newest Afternoon Prime Offering "Apoy Sa Langit" Beginning May 2

When a widowed jewelry designer and her only daughter get a second chance at a complete family, life takes a surprising twist when an “estranged daughter” turns out to be her new husband’s secret mistress.

The series stars one of the country’s finest actresses Ms. Maricel Laxa as Gemma Hidalgo, a widow and a loving mother who won’t let anyone get in the way of her second chance at love.

“It's a stretch for me siyempre, it's been a while pero I'm enjoying myself and for me it's a brand new experience na masterclass kasi it's my first time to really work on a teleserye with Direk Laurice [Guillen] so, I'm really absorbing everything I can, I'm writing things down, I'm doing extra homework and I'm making myself really available to learn, to go to the next level and have fun most of all,” shares Maricel on grabbing the opportunity to do this TV project.

Playing an important role is accomplished actor and TV director Mr. Zoren Legaspi as Cesar Monastreal, Gemma’s charming and endearing new husband.

He reveals working extra hard for this series since he doesn’t want to disappoint his director, “You know this project, hindi siya biro. If you're working with Direk Laurice, you got to be a thinking actor and that's the only way you're going to appreciate her…It's really a special role for me that's why I'm excited to work everyday dahil gustung-gusto ko yung character ni Cesar.”

Starring in Apoy sa Langit is highly-talented Kapuso star Mikee Quintos who is all set to showcase her versatility in drama as Ning Hidalgo, Gemma’s unica hija who is sweet, smart, and as artistic as her mother. As a child, she witnessed the murder of her father. And this time, she will witness how her mom’s new husband cheats on her.

“Yung challenge po here sa lahat ng ginawa kong characters, si Ning yung may pinakamabigat na dinadala sa loob. I can say na mas mabigat pa sa dala ni Myla sa ‘Onanay’ kasi ito may trauma and nahihirapan siyang i-handle yun na kino-consume na siya nang trauma niya at nahihirapan na siyang mabuhay ng normal. Pinakahirap akong i-express yung galit and because of Ning, natututunan ko kung paano i-express yung galit in different ways and with great help from Direk Laurice din, she's very straight to the point with what she wants and that helped me a lot sa mga eksena,” says Mikee as she takes her acting a notch higher in portraying her character.

Also joining in the soap is Lianne Valentin in her most daring role as Stella Fernandez, a bold and beautiful young woman who falls in love with Cesar.

She reveals how different and challenging her role is in the series and how she works her way into channeling Stella, “I'm super happy noong nalaman ko na nakuha ko yung role ni Stella. It's very challenging and new for me. I just know na it's sexy, daring, and mature role pero mas na-realize ko habang tumatagal na yung role ni Stella, there's more to it dahil maraming shift and emotions…And personally yung pagiging sexy and daring, nahihirapan ako diyan pero sinet ko lang yung mind ko na I'm gonna commit, ako si Stella, I'm gonna do Stella and Stella is my role, sa akin lang siya wala nang iba and it pulled off naman and sobrang iba yung makikita ninyong Lianne dito.”

First Look: Warner Bros. Pictures “The Batman” Sequel, “Don’t Worry Darling,” and “Barbie”

Vengeance is returning to Gotham. Warner Bros. Pictures made that revelation plus a couple of first-look debuts during the studio’s presentation April 26 at CinemaCon, the annual convention of movie theater owners held this year in Las Vegas.

“The Batman” Sequel

Warner announced that director Matt Reeves has begun scripting a sequel to “The Batman,” which he and Dylan Clark would also return to produce. The news comes on the heels of the current film passing the $750 million mark at the global box office. The announcement was made by Toby Emmerich, Chairman, Warner Bros. Pictures Group, and Reeves himself, who joined Emmerich onstage during his opening remarks.

HBO Max recently announced a series centered around Colin Farrell as The Penguin, derived directly from the universe launched by the “The Batman.” Reeves is currently reteaming with J.J. Abrams and DC universe veteran Bruce Timm on the streamer’s upcoming animated series “Batman: Caped Crusader.” The filmmaker’s prior films include the hugely successful “Planet of the Apes” franchise, the acclaimed fantasy horror film “Let Me In,” and the sci-fi horror hit “Cloverfield,” among others. Reeves’ additional credits include the popular TV series “Felicity,” which he co-created with Abrams, as well as the series “Ordinary Joe,” “Lift,” “Mother/Android,” “Away,” “Tales from the Loop” and “The Passage,” among others.

“Don’t Worry Darling”

Director Olivia Wilde unveiled the first look at Harry Styles and Florence Pugh in the psychological thriller “Don’t Worry Darling.”

In the film, a 1950s housewife (Pugh) living with her husband (Styles) in a utopian experimental community begins to worry that his glamorous company may be hiding disturbing secrets.

During her presentation, Wilde shared the idea behind “Don’t Worry Darling,” which is inspired by “Inception,” “The Matrix” and “The Truman Show.” She calls the movie “a love letter to movies that push the boundaries of our imagination.”

Slated to open in the Philippines this September, “Don’t Worry Darling” is Wilde’s follow-up feature to 2019’s coming-of-age comedy “Booksmart.”

“Barbie”

A first-look image of the much-anticipated live-action adventure “Barbie” starring Margot Robbie was also revealed at CinemaCon. The photo features Robbie behind the wheel of a pink convertible, flashing a megawatt smile and donning a polka dot headband.

Directed by Academy Award-nominee Greta Gerwig, who co-wrote the script with her partner Noah Baumbach, “Barbie” opens in Philippine cinemas in 2023.

Ford Valencia Releases Heartfelt, Acoustic Version of PBB Hit Song "Magmahal Muli"

BoybandPH’s Ford Valencia turns one of the most nostalgic “Pinoy Big Brother” songs “Magmahal Muli” into a poignant acoustic ballad, his second solo single under ABS-CBN’s Star Pop label.

As a longtime fan of “PBB” who auditioned for the famed reality show several times to fulfill his dream of being a housemate, Ford said it’s an honor for him to release a reimagined version of the hit song.

“Even if I haven’t realized that dream of mine, it’s a huge honor to breathe new life to one of our favorite songs from ‘PBB.’ I used to just sing this song during videoke and jamming sessions with my friends and now it’s my single,” said Ford.

Originally composed by “PBB” season 1 housemate Sam Milby and recorded as a duet with fellow housemate Say Alonzo in 2005, “Magmahal Muli” discusses the pain of lost love and reminds listeners that one does not need to actively find new romance because it will come at the perfect time.

Ford’s interpretation of the track was produced by Star Pop head Rox Santos, arranged by Tommy Katigbak, and mixed and mastered by Tim Recla. The hunk balladeer’s new single is a follow-up to his debut solo music release “Paalam Na,” which was released in November 2021.

Folk-pop artist Angela Ken takes listeners back to the simple but meaningful joys of teenage friendships in her new single “Dagdag na Alaala” released under Star Music.

“Dagdag na Alaala” serves as an ode to Angela’s beautiful memories in high school and the special bond she’s built with her friends from that time of her life. She co-wrote the track with ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo who also served as its producer.

Meant to evoke nostalgia and relay appreciation for one’s high school barkada, the song also makes a statement about nurturing friendships. “The song reminds us to always value our friends and the people around us while they’re still with us,” said Angela who rose to fame via TikTok and is now part of Star Magic’s Squad Plus.

Apart from “Dagdag Na Alaala,” she recently collaborated with fellow singer-songwriter Jeremy G for the official soundtrack of ABS-CBN’s first exclusive digital series “How To Move On in 30 Days” featuring the two original tracks “Your Everything” and “Hanggang Sa Muli.”

Shanti Dope's New Song "Maya" Salutes All The Youth Eager to Hustle for Success

Shanti Dope has released an astounding new single titled “Maya”, a song written with the goal of becoming a strong anthem for the new generation in mind.
