Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino Starrer Suspense-Thriller Series "LINLANG" Becomes the Most Watched Show on Prime Video Philippines


ABS-CBN’s latest suspense-thriller series “Linlang,” starring Paulo Avelino, JM de Guzman, and Kim Chiu emerged as the most watched TV show on Prime Video Philippines on its first streaming day.

“Linlang,” which drops new episodes every Thursday, is streaming in over 240 countries and territories and is the second series of Kim Chiu on Prime Video after the success of “Fit Check: Confessions of an Ukay Queen.”

The series revolves around boxer-turned-seaman Victor “Bangis” Lualhati (Paulo Avelino) in his quest of uncovering the truth behind his wife Juliana’s (Kim Chiu) infidelity. As Victor digs deeper, he discovers that there is more at play than just a cheating spouse and realizes that the woman he loved and married is not who she seems.

Warner Bros. Releases Trailer for the Musical Drama "THE COLOR PURPLE" Starring Taraji P. Henson, H.E.R., Halle Bailey and Fantasia Barrino


A bold new take on the beloved classic. “The Color Purple,” based on the novel by Alice Walker, stars an ensemble cast that includes Taraji P. Henson, H.E.R., Halle Bailey and Fantasia Barrino, in her film debut. Produced by Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Scott Sanders and Quincy Jones, the film opens in Philippine cinemas January 24, 2024.

ABS-CBN News Launch Three Digital Offerings Titled “SOS: Stars on Spotlight,” “Bistado M.O. (Modus Operandi),” and “Patrol ng Pilipino: Playlist”


Three new ABS-CBN News digital content - offering news, useful information and entertainment - was launched last weekend in a bid to further expand the organization’s reach.

After its soft-launch last September 29, “SOS: Stars on Spotlight” premiered on October 7, in its regular time slot at 4pm every Saturday on the ABS-CBN News YouTube channel (youtube.com/abscbnnews).

The weekly recap of the week’s biggest and most talked-about showbiz and entertainment stories that aired on TV Patrol is headlined alternately by Ganiel Krishnan and MJ Felipe. A day after its YouTube run, the same episode will stream on the ABS-CBN News Facebook page (facebook.com/abscbnnews) also at 4pm.


The news team’s second offering, “Bistado M.O. (Modus Operandi)”, meanwhile, aims to not only revisit crime cases and scams covered by ABS-CBN’s metro and justice reporters, but also advise viewers on how to avoid being victimized.

Hosted by veteran police reporters Zyann Ambrosio and Jeff Caparas, “Bistado M.O.” streams at 4:30 p.m. Saturdays on the ABS-CBN News YouTube channel, and 4:30 p.m. Sundays on the ABS-CBN News Facebook page.


Finally, in “Patrol ng Pilipino: Playlist,” ABS-CBN journalists take the lead in presenting a mini-newsmagazine that will showcase vertical video stories originally released by “Patrol ng Pilipino”, the news organization’s mobile journalism initiative.

Each reporter hosts a compilation of content curated by concept - ranging from on-the-spot coverages and explainers, to food and lifestyle features. Among the presenters are “Patrol ng Pilipino” mainstays Doris Bigornia, Michael Delizo, and Krishnan.

“Patrol ng Pilipino: Playlist” drops every Sunday at 11 a.m. on the Patrol ng Pilipino (facebook.com/patrolngpilipino) and ABS-CBN News Facebook pages. It is then available on the ABS-CBN News’ YouTube channel Tuesdays at 6 p.m.

COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises Brings Back the Authentic Storytelling Roots of Blogging in “UNMASKED: The COMCO Mundo Write to Ignite Initiative Season 3”


Global award-winning communications group COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises has finally concluded “UNMASKED: The COMCO Mundo Write to Ignite Initiative Season 3” with the announcement of the program’s Top Storytellers in a virtual awards night held recently.

Following the success of its first and second seasons, the initiative recently returned for a third season to continue empowering storytellers across the nation by collating and amplifying their powerful stories that champion the human spirit. Write to Ignite Season 3 brought to light amazing stories that were previously untold, unheard, or underrated.

By pushing participants beyond their comfort zones and asking them to feature tales of triumph, success and perseverance from other people they are connected to, work with or know, the initiative was able to pull back the mask of everyday heroes from various walks of life and to share their heartwarming journeys and inspiring perspectives in life.

Numerous participants from all over the Philippines participated in the challenge, with 40 finalists emerging to lead the journey. These finalists were invited to a Virtual Awarding Ceremony, where the top 20 storytellers were declared.

Iris Acosta of Pinay Ads from Caloocan City emerged as the Grand Champion for her entry “Unmasking Strength: A Journey of Resilience and Hope” about her mom’s battle against cancer. 

Other winners in the top 5 include 1st runner-up Gretchen Filart of Our World in Words from Sta. Maria, Bulacan for her entry “Championing Biodiversity Against The Odds: Environmentalist Celine Murillo, Unmasked” which is about the journey of environmentalist Celine Murillo and her advocacy for the conservation of biodiversity and natural heritage through storytelling; 2nd runner-up Katrina Rivera of Kwento ni Kat from Talisay City, Negros Occidental for “Wrist Tags, Bananas in Pajamas, Masks, and All the Things That Can Keep Us Alive” which is about her friend Nikka and her battle with lupus; 3rd runner-up Mauie Flores of The 24-Hour Mommy from Cainta, Rizal for “UNMASKED: The Amazing Faith and Courage of a Fabulous Ausome Mom” which is about her churchmate’s journey raising her three children in the autism spectrum; and 4 th runner-up Marjorie Pineda-Uy of Woman in Digital from Quezon City for “UNMASKED: God Loves You ‘As Is’” which is about her aunt’s experience living with disability.

The top 5 winners were also given an opportunity to support their selected accredited non- government organization through donations as part of the prizes they won. Grand Champion Iris Acosta chose to support Save the Children Philippines, 1st runner-up Gretchen Filart picked Philippine Eagle Foundation, 2nd runner-up Katrina Rivera selected Make-A-Wish Foundation, 3rd runner-up Mauie Flores partnered with SOS Children’s Villages, and 4th runner-up Marjorie Uy identified Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) as beneficiary.

The Grand Champion won PhP 40,000 and two international round-trip tickets from airasia. The rest of the Top 5 winners won cash prizes, PhP 20,000 for the 1 st Runner-Up; PhP 15,000 for the 2 nd Runner-Up; PhP 12,000 for the 3 rd Runner-Up; and PhP 10,000 for the 4 th Runner-Up. URC Named Most Outstanding Consumer Staples Company in the Philippines for Third Year in a Row


One of Asia’s leading financial publication, Asiamoney has, for a third year in a row, named Universal Robina Corp. (URC) as the Philippines’ most outstanding company in the consumer staples sector in its Asia’s Outstanding Poll 2023.

Asiamoney handed the award to URC, one of the Philippines’ largest food manufacturers, after an exhaustive survey of the region’s top capital movers and financial experts.

URC president and CEO Irwin Lee said clinching the award three times in a row "serves as a validation of the quality of our product, and a testament to the unyielding trust and confidence that our valued customers have in us”.

It is also a recognition of the remarkable dedication shown by our workforce, and a reaffirmation of the overall excellence that defines our company,” he added.

Asiamoney is a top source of news, commentaries and data services for international capital markets.

The 2023 Asia’s Outstanding Company Poll covered over 1,225 fund managers, analysts, bankers and ratings agencies. In total, 7,653 votes were received for publicly listed companies across 13 markets in Asia.

The results recognized 194 companies as being the most outstanding in their respective sectors and markets.

The poll was designed to acknowledge listed firms that have excelled in areas such as financial performance, management team excellence, investor relations and corporate social responsibility.
