Kapamilya artist Janah Zaplan longs for her great love in her first Christmas single “Pasko’y Nagbabalik.”

The track highlights the importance of spending the holiday season with loved ones. It was composed and produced by ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo.

“This is a reminder how good this season is by reminiscing memories and creating new ones this Christmas,” Janah described the song.

Janah is one of the up-and-coming artists from the Kapamilya music label Star Pop headed by Roque “Rox” Santos. Kapamilya P-POP Boy Band BGYO Records NSYNC’s New Single “Better Place” For Filipino Audience From the Movie “Trolls Band Together” Soundtrack

Beloved for its signature psychedelic joy-bomb of new and classic pop hits, the latest sequel in the Trolls movie franchise puts the spotlight on band music. And when it comes to Pinoy pop music or P-pop – our own version of deliciously catchy pop band music in the same vein as K-pop and J-pop – who knows better than BGYO? Dubbed as the “Aces of P-pop,” BGYO has taken the Philippine music industry (and then some) by storm.

Before debuting as idols in 2021, Rivera, Morishita, Toreliza, Claver and Porcalla, trained under ABS-CBN’s Star Hunt Academy with the help of Filipino mentors, as well as South Korean coaches from MU Doctor Academy. Movie Adaptation of Popular TV Action-Thriller "Tokyo MER" Opens Exclusive in Ayala Malls Cinemas on November 22

Moved by the sight of medical practitioners and other essential workers risking their lives to save people at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, TV producer Masanao Takahashi created Tokyo MER (stands for Mobile Emergency Room), a tribute to the heroes of the pandemic. What started as a humble show of gratitude would go on to become a hit TV series in 2021 – with a movie adaptation that is currently one of the highest-grossing films in Japan this year.

This month, Filipino audiences can watch Tokyo MER on the big screen when it opens exclusively in Ayala Malls Cinemas on November 22. Reprising his TV role as Tokyo MER’s lead doctor, Ryohei Suzuki leads the cast of the film and is joined by notable newcomers, including Japanese idol boy band SixTONES’ Jesse as Tomohiro Shiomi, a trainee doctor assigned to Tokyo MER, and Anne Watanabe as Tomo Kamoi, the chief doctor of the MER team in the neighboring city of Yokohama.

The movie, directed by Aya Matsuki, takes place two years after the TV series, and the setting is the nearby city of Yokohama. The filmmakers wanted the big-screen adaptation to have a more realistic feel, so the main setting of the emergency is the Yokohama Landmark Tower, one of the tallest buildings in Japan. “In terms of the story, it matches the setting of spreading MER across the country [creating more MERs], and the Tokyo MER team is also close enough to rush to rescue,” said screenwriter Tsutomu Kuroiwa. As the emergency in the film is a big fire breaking out at the Tower, the filmmakers consulted with the city’s fire department to lend more authenticity to the film. They also consulted with medical supervisors about designing the newly established Yokohama MER’s ER car; the ER car, an emergency vehicle with the technology and equipment to perform emergency surgery on the scene before transporting seriously injured patients to the hospital, is a signature element of the show. Get ready to see an ER car that’s even more advanced than the one on the TV series. “I think it truly became a ‘dream vehicle,’” said director Aya Matsuki of the new ER car in the film.

Of the new additions to the cast, producer Ami Yagi said, “[The character of Yokohama MER Chief] Kamoi is a cool woman, in contrast to Kitami [Tokyo MER chief played by Suzuki both on TV and in the movie]. However, she is not just cold, but also has a side that shows her loveliness as a human being. I cast Anne Watanabe because I thought she would be able to embody this character.”

And of SixTONES idol Jesse, Yagi said, “I thought Jesse would show a new side through the role of Shiomi, which is a little different from the bright characters he shows on variety shows. Shiomi is a character who grows out of his shell, so I was hoping that it would be similar to how Jesse himself tackles roles that he has never played before.”

MMFF 2023: “Broken Hearts Trip” Starring Christian Bables, Teejay Marquez, Petite, and Iyah Mina

Get ready for a Christmas season filled with laughter as the comedy-drama film “Broken Hearts Trip” hits cinemas nationwide on December 25. 

Brought to Filipino audiences by BMC Films in collaboration with Smart Films, this film promises to be a heartwarming and entertaining addition to the 49th edition of the annual Metro Manila Film Festival.

Leading the cast of “Broken Hearts Trip” is the award-winning actor Christian Bables, known for his recent role in the popular Kapamilya primetime series “Dirty Linen.” As he wraps up the year, he once again showcases his remarkable acting skills.

When asked about his prospects of winning the best actor award for his role this year, Bables shared, “I did my best. Sa lahat naman ng mga pelikulang ginagawa ko, hindi ko ini-expect talaga yung mananalo ako o hindi. Basta I do my best as an actor.”

He further expressed, “Sana, kung ipagkakaloob ni God at ng pagkakataon, thank you. Pero kung hindi, alam kong mas deserve nung mananalo kung hindi man ako ‘yun.”

Broken Hearts Trip delves into the lives of five brokenhearted LGBTQ individuals who are given a chance to heal in some of the most beautiful places in the country.

After enduring countless heartaches, frustrations, and seemingly endless grief, they are finally offered the opportunity of a lifetime when a corporate agency sponsors a reality competition titled ‘The Broken Hearts Trip.’ The show takes them on a series of journeys to some of the most stunning tourist spots in the Philippines, namely: Kawasan Falls in Badian, Cebu; Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte; Magdalena, Laguna; Lobo, Batangas; as well as Bangkong Kahoy Valley and Mt. Banahaw in Dolores, Quezon.

But there’s a catch! To continue in the competition, the contestants must remain single at the end of their journey. A one-million-peso cash prize awaits the last gay man or trans woman standing - the chosen one.

In each destination, in each episode, one is spotlighted as they confront their past and navigate the road to recovery. While not every step and activity may go exactly as planned, each experience offers a valuable lesson. The journey continues, but will they make it to the next destination?

Will it be a pursuit of money or a quest for love? It’s the perplexing question that each participant must answer as their experiences grow more enriching and exciting. In the final leg of the show, one winner will emerge with not only the prize but also a fresh lease on life.

Joining the lively ensemble of cast members are Jay Gonzaga, Ron Angeles, Argel Saycon, Arnold Reyes, Kevin Posadas, and Sinon Loresca, each in their engaging roles.

The screenplay of Broken Hearts Trip was written by Archie Del Mundo based on an original story by Lex Bonife.
