Robi Domingo Admits Dating Gretchen Ho
Robi Domingo Admits Dating Gretchen Ho
Just a few months after admitting his crush on Gretchen Ho, television host Robi Domingo revealed that he and the student-athlete are dating.
Both Domingo and Ho are from the Ateneo de Manila University.
“I think so,” the “Pinoy Big Brother” host said when asked by “Kris TV” host Kris Aquino if he and Ho are dating.
Domingo said Ho has been “coaching me about my life” following a personal dilemma.
“I had a personal dilemma like months ago, whether to go to med school agad or to stay here in the industry and, you know, find myself here,” he said.
“Then she talked to me and sabi niya ‘it will come to you. Whatever decision you make in the future, as long as you’re happy, doon ka nararapat.’”
But unlike most celebrities, Domingo said one of their “dates” include going to Ho’s foster family in Litex near Payatas.
“She had a foster family there. And then nagkaroon ng habagat tapos sabi niya ‘you want to come with me, bisitahin natin ‘yung foster family ko.’ Ako nagdala ako ng mga canned goods, mga pancit canton.
“And then tinanong niya ako, ‘are you going to bring a car?’ Sabi ko ikaw bahala. And then sabi ko ‘gusto mong mag-adventure?’ So, jeep from Katipunan, apat na sakay papuntang Litex.
“’Yun ang date ko. Kaya nga sabi ko kayo Europe tapos ako, canned goods,” he told fellow guests on the morning show, laughing.
Domingo then gave this message to Ho: “Gretchen, thank you so much for inspiring me. And I’m glad every time na magkasama kami. And I always look forward to seeing you. So take care and keep on inspiring others. And take care.”

SMART Launches the 1st Multi-Band LTE in the Country
SMART Launches the 1st Multi-Band LTE in the Country

Wireless leader Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) today scored another first in network and customer experience superiority as it extended its pioneering LTE commercial service into a multi-frequency offering.
Recognized worldwide as a leader in innovation, Smart has fired up LTE in the 2100MHz and 1800Mhz bands officially making it the first multi-frequency service provider of mobile LTE in the country and one of the first in the world according to PLDT-Smart Technology Group Head Rolando G. Peña.
“Offering LTE in multiple frequencies will give us and our subscribers greater flexibility,” said Pena. “Multi-band LTE means better coverage whether in densely- or sparsely-populated areas and a wider range of compatible devices,” he added.
Smart’s LTE service which was launched last August 25 initially ran only on 2100Mhz similar to that being used by Japanese telco and LTE pioneer NTT DoCoMo.
Pena explains that multi-band LTE will also allow for the seamless international interoperability of LTE devices which will be offered by Smart in the near future.
“Smart has a history of offering its mobile services in multi-band configurations,” said Pena. “Our GSM connection runs on 900Mhz and 1800MHz bands, and our 3G, HSPA, and HSPA+ connections run on both 850MHz and 2100MHz. These combinations give our service superior reach, flexibility, and resiliency,” he added.
Smart LTE is available at Plan 3500 on unlimited until October 25, 2012. A 10GB monthly data allowance will take effect after the said date. The package includes a multi-band capable USB dongle which can be used for both Windows and Mac computers.
The fastest 4G
Also known as the fastest fourth generation (4G) wireless technology in existence, LTE is capable of delivering speeds of up to 100Mbps. It enables users to download HD movies in minutes, stream HD videos with no buffering, and play online games with no lag.
Complementing the commercial launch of Smart LTE is the installation of more than 54,000 kilometers of Fiber Optic Cabling (FOC) which connects Smart’s cellsites to its core network.
The upgraded FOC system, which is scheduled to be completed by end-2012 under the P67.1 billion “technology refresh” with parent company, PLDT, also makes possible Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) fixed broadband services with speeds of up to 100Mbps.
“This combination of LTE and FTTH gives the PLDT group unmatched capabilities to serve the requirements of its customers for mobile and fixed broadband services,” said PLDT and Smart President and CEO Napoleon L. Nazareno.

Why Manny V. Pangilinan is targeting GMA-7? The Truth Revealed
Why Manny V. Pangilinan is targeting GMA-7? The Truth Revealed
To understand why business tycoon Manuel V. Pangilinan is targeting TV network GMA-7 for acquisition, we have to go back in time.
In a classic leap of imagination, the Canadian media visionary Marshall McLuhan took a look at our digital future and predicted that the impact of mass communication technologies would be so pervasive that the "medium (will be) the message."
Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) Chairman Pangilinan (a.k.a. MVP) has got the future of his conglomerates all sorted out, including what fits where. In fact, he already knows where to slot in GMA-7 when he completes its buyout by December. They are now just talking how much and how many shares. Minor details for MVP. He’s got bigger things on his mind, and he gave his shareholders a peek into their future at their annual meeting this year.
"The fact is," he said, "telcos (telecommunication companies) will become obsolete." Then he painted the future for them.
THE NEXT FRONTIER
"The future of that is uncertain," he continued. "We have to be something more than that. The next frontier lies in the media space."
MVP envisions a future where his companies supply not only the power people use to charge their phones, but also the network they use to go online, and the content they access into their devices. PLDT will be - as the song goes - here, there and everywhere.
"Social media will eventually merge with us and us with them," he said. And boldly going where no one has gone before, MVP said PLDT must "move firmly into the social media, social networking and Internet space before they move into ours and eat our lunch."
COMPETITIVE SPACE
Where does GMA-7 fit in this bold vision of the future?
"You need to understand why a telco needs to move into the media space," MVP told reporters at the sidelines. "Traditional media, television, radio, print, but also social media - Google, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube - these two spaces are converging."
"It is possible that the Googles of the world - I’m not saying it’s Google - the social networks could get into the telco space… for them to offer and deliver their own services."
"We’re seeing how [PLDT] margins are getting depressed by staying purely as a distribution company," MVP said. "Our shareholders don’t like to see that."
COMPELLING VISION
"Telcos have user-generated content but they also need the content of others," MVP said. "Your television content is not user-generated. Somebody else produces content: your tele-drama, your news, even your radio commentaries."
"We need to move into that space so that there is eventually some form of a combination between telco as a utility and social media as providing the sort of content that a telco needs to deliver," he said. "The whole industry will change."
RADICAL CHANGE
Three powerful communication technologies are radically reshaping the news, changing both its format and content, and morphing it unto a form and shape that he Canadian media visionary Marshall McLuhan foresaw decades ago but few of us thought we would see in our lifetime.
Very recently, a worldwide study showed that the digital medium has overtaken radio and print. Another international study last year found that more people got their news from the Internet than from television.
The driving forces of this communication revolution are the Internet and the social phenomenon it spawned, the social media, which transformed the way people transmit and consume the news.
MCLUHAN’S WORLD
In turn, the news itself has evolved in form and substance, making true the prediction of futurist visionary McLuhan that, in simple terms, "the medium is the message."
The way the social media and the Internet have transformed the news, in fact, has turned the new technological processes of transmitting the news into powerful tools of radical social and political change.
The new arsenal of revolutionary change now includes social networking as its most potent weapon, evident in the radical changes that transformed the Islamic world since the Arab Spring of 2011.
The social media replaced television news as the dominant tool of political change.
BOUNDARIES BLURRING
Today the confluence of technology and socio-political change is transforming even the news itself as commonly understood.
In the interactive world of the Internet and social media networks, the traditional boundaries between news and opinion have been obliterated, with netizens conveying news and opinion in an odd mixture of digital chatter.
In many cases, news is now only used as a medium for conveying the more important opinions that crisscross the digital universe hundreds of millions of times per second.
News has become the carrying medium of opinion in a sudden reversal of roles, with content in turn transforming the media that carry them.
This is the future that MVP sees and it animates him.

Mark Herras Dons New Hairdo in Preparation for ‘Luna Blanca’ Book 3
Mark Herras Dons New Hairdo in Preparation for ‘Luna Blanca’ Book 3
Badboy of the Dance Floor Mark Herras arrived at the press conference of “Luna Blanca” on Tuesday sporting a new hairstyle.
The kapuso leading man will portray the ‘older’ version of Joaquin when the series premieres its third and last installment beginning September 10. The younger Joaquin was portrayed by tween star Kristoffer Martin.
Mark said that his new hairstyle has nothing to do with his character in the series.
“Actually po bago ako nagpagupit ng ganito, sinabi ko po kay direk (Dominic Zapata) kung pwede po akong magpagupit ng ganito. Sabi naman po ni direk na OK lang pero siguro by the time na isu-shoot na ang first week na episodes, kailangan mejo tumubo na yung buhok ko sa gilid,” he said.
And who’s the inspiration behind his new look? “David Beckham po kasi ang ginawa kong peg diyan (laughs),” Mark said.
The Big Challenge Ahead
In the third book of “Luna Blanca,” Mark’s character requires very serious acting - something that Kristoffer Martin did quite well in the previous season. Does Mark feel pressured given that he’s expected to surpass the performance of his younger co-star?
“Ang pinakamalaki talaga na challenge para sa akin ay ang pagiging singer ni Kristoffer. Alam naman ng lahat na hindi talaga ako kumakanta (laughs),” he quipped.
Asked about the status of his relationship with actress Ynna Asistio - his girlfriend for close to five years now - he said that although sometimes they have misunderstandings once in a while just like most other couples, their relationship has remained strong.
“Ngayon mejo wala kaming time para sa isa’t isa kasi pareho kaming busy sa trabaho pero kung may chance po talaga nagkikita po kami,” said Mark.
Watch the last book of the multi-generational fantasy series every weekday evening beginning September 10 on GMA-7.

Pen Medina Plays the Role of ‘Mother Ben’ in ‘Aso ni San Roque’
Pen Medina Plays the Role of ‘Mother Ben’ in ‘Aso ni San Roque’
Veteran stage and TV actor Pen Medina has replaced Eddie Garcia as ‘Mother Ben’ in the upcoming drama-fantasy series on GMA-7, “Aso ni San Roque.”
Originally, the role of an elderly and motherly gay, was offered to Eddie Garcia but due to unforeseen health concerns, Garcia later requested the producers to give him a less time-demanding role, instead. Garcia will now portray the role of ‘Supremo,’ the leader of the aswangs.
As ‘Mother Ben,’ Pen Medina will be the adoptive ‘mother’ to the lead star Mona Louise Rey who stars as ‘Fatima,’ a blind girl who has a dog, ‘Anghel’ for a pal. Anghel is no ordinary canine; she is the incarnate of San Roque’s dog, which possesses a supernatural power to cure diseases.
Pen says he enjoys Mona’s very light and bubbly personality which masks the fact that the eight-year-old girl is actually suffering from Type 1 Diabetes. Pen very well understands her ordeal especially because the actor’s own son – his youngest – who is only ten years old is also suffering from the same disease.
“Everyday siya nag-iinject ng insulin: bago mag-breakfast at bago mag-dinner,” shared Pen of his son’s condition. “Pero dahil lumalaki na, naiiba yung blood sugar levels niya, biglang tumataas o kaya biglang bumababa. Pero marunong na siyang mag-inject sa sarili niya. Pag matagal na niyang hindi naiinject ang tiyan, siya na ang nag-iinject kasi hirap siya kung sa braso e.”
Apart from appearing in various soaps, Pen also conducts seminars and acting workshops in GMA and also in other networks. If he is not on TV, he turns to his ultimate love – painting.
“Actually, naka-schedule na ako for an exhibit sa August next year (2013) in time for my birthday (August 27). So yun yung paghahandaan ko naman ngayon.”
Watch the ‘colorful’ adventures of Pen Medina as ‘Mother Ben’ in “Aso ni San Roque” airs weeknights beginning September 10 on GMA.
