Visayas Earthquake - Negros Oriental 6.9-Magnitude Earthquake Update


Negros Oriental in the Visayas region was hit by a 6.9-magnitude earthquake on Monday noon, February 6, 2012.

The earthquake, with the epicenter between the islands of Negros and Cebu, reportedly killed at least 49 people and also damaged bridges in the province.


157 aftershocks in the area was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) as of Monday night.

This is an unexpected happening; there are many people who are victims of this tragedy. We hope and pray that they cannot happen again.

Nice post. Thanks for sharing. I hope that preventative measures can be put in place soon. One thing that can be done which costs nothing is each individual take responsibility for their garbage and put it where it belongs instead of throwing it all over the streets, rivers, and everywhere else.
