Nina, Iya Villania, Bamboo and 6CycleMind to Stage Free Concert for H.E.R.O.

Rock bands 6CycleMind and Bamboo, MYX VJ Iya Villania, and Soul Siren Nina are all set to perform in benefit concert titled “Saludo” in Nuvali on November 30.

Every year, Filipino soldiers are killed or incapacitated in line of duty. Our soldiers are compelled by their sworn duty to put their lives in the line of fire even if it means dying and leaving their families to fend for themselves. It is more difficult for the children, whose dreams of a better future die together with their bread winners.

This is where the HERO Foundation, Inc. comes in. HERO, which stands for Help, Educate and Rear Orphans, was founded in 1988 by the late President Corazon C. Aquino with then Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Renato de Villa, as an answer to the growing need to help families of fallen soldiers. The Foundation is presently headed by businessman-philanthropist Fernando Zobel de Ayala as the Chairman of its Board of Trustees.

The HERO Foundation’s mission is to provide educational assistance in the form of stipends to children or siblings of Filipino soldiers killed in action (KIA), or totally incapacitated due to combat action. For 24 years, it has provided more than P98 million to 2,261 military orphans to ensure that qualified scholars receive a yearly stipend to support their education. Thousands of military orphans still need educational support as hundreds of Filipino soldiers are killed annually fighting lawless elements and insurgents around the country.

In line with this, the HERO Foundation launched a series of concerts to raise funds that will benefit families of our fallen soldiers. The concert will be staged in different cities all over the country. The first leg was held in Naga City last August, then this November in NUVALI, Laguna.

Dubbed “SALUDO: A Concert for Heroes”, the concert is set on November 30, 2012 at the NUVALI Evoliving Center dockside with performances by 6CycleMind, Iya Villania, Nina and Bamboo.

Organized by ALV Productions, the concert is co-presented by San Miguel Corporation and NUVALI.

Admission is FREE but a donation of P50 can go a long way. Each P50 donation will entitle you to a guaranteed seat to the concert (Guaranteed seats section), you will also get a chance to win HERO shirts, autographed merchandise and backstage passes to meet and greet the artists. All proceeds will go to HERO Foundation

Proceeds of the concert would help send to school hundreds of orphans of Filipino soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the fulfilment of their constitutional duty as protectors of our nation. It doesn’t take much to be a HERO to the orphans of our fallen soldiers. This can be our chance to give back to our unsung heroes. Let us make our soldiers know and feel that we truly care. The HERO Foundation invites each one of us to work with them to ensure that the children our soldiers may leave behind will still be given the chance to achieve their dreams. Let us be heroes to the children of our heroes.
