Meet DZMM’s Voices and Faces of Love

For those who are in love, have fallen out of love, or want to fall in love, they can turn to DZMM’s late-night anchors and programs who are ready to listen and coach on matters relating to the heart on their late night and early morning programs aired on DZMM Radyo Patrol 630, Mega Manila’s number one AM radio station, and DZMM TeleRadyo, the nation’s leading cable TV news and commentary channel.

Miss M or Rosel Manahan in real life, makes a comeback on DZMM’s early morning time block with her new show “Miss M Confidential” on Thursdays and Fridays at 1 a.m. to serve as an on-air confidant to people dealing with problems in love, relationships, family, and career. They can call to unload their most intimate secrets or consult their problems, while Miss M listens and coaches them to help them.

Radio is not a new medium for Miss M, who debuted on DZMM in 2001 with the program “Miss M.” She used to co-anchor the legal program “Usapang De Campanilla,” the showbiz commentary program “Mismo,” and on the youth-oriented talk show “U-Talk.” Recognized for her captivating voice and vibrant personality, Miss M knows her radio audience well.

It takes more than a voice to hook an audience. Listeners are smart. A pretty voice will only take you so far. The challenge is finding new and creative ways to make the show as entertaining as possible, but at the same time be a venue for people to speak their minds,” she pointed out.

Miss M said she does not want her show to be too heavy or be wallowing in heartache. “Miss M Confidential,” in her own words, is a show that allows her to connect with the audience on a very personal level. Beginning in late January this year, the show also showcases a playlist of sentimental love songs from the 1980s and 1990s to aid her in giving inspiration to her audiences.

I try to help them take small steps towards realizing the solution which they know all along. We really do know the answer but we just need help getting to it,” she said.

Aside from “Miss M Confidential,” DZMM also offers Joe D’ Mango’s traditional approach of taking up love problems in “Love Notes” Tuesdays and Wendesdays at 12 m.n. – reading a letter while mellow, poignant music plays in the background just before he puts his two cents in. But Joe’s trademark style is getting beyond the trivial; he strips down love conundrums right to their basics.

As he has always pointed out, he is not a counselor who determines what’s wrong and right for people in trouble, but is there only to widen their horizons. True enough, he puts out an intimate conversation with letter senders and makes them self-aware without telling them what to do. Aside from love advice, the show’s ‘Midnight Serenade’ segment also features popular and promising singers who serenade DZMM viewers and listeners live.

For the confused and brokenhearted, there is also Bro. Jun ‘Dr. Love’ Banaag and his award-winning “Dr. Love Radio Show” that airs twice a day on DZMM – the afternoon musical program with its catalog of classic sentimental songs at 1 p.m. and the counseling show at 11 p.m.

A professed Third Order Dominican, Bro. Jun or Dr. Love is known for his religious but bold and confrontational counseling method. His powerful words may point to the caller as the source of his own problems, but his clear-cut and conscientious reflections are what endear Dr. Love to his large following.

And lastly, DZMM offers “Lovelines” with Jon Ibanez and Dr. Yani Santos every Saturday, for light and sensible discussions on romance and relationships on “Lovelines.” The tandem’s own brand of counseling takes just the right mix of amusement from the humorist ‘Papa Jon’ (Radyo Patrol 35) and professional guidance from psychologist Doc Yani.

Lovers, friends, and families can find the slightest reason to smile just by listening to DZMM’s love anchors and not go through their problems alone.

So keep listening to “Miss M Confidential” on Thursdays and Fridays at 1 a.m., “Lovelines” with Jon and Doc Yani Saturdays at 1 a.m., “Joe D’ Mango’s Love Notes,” Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12 m.n. until 4 a.m., and the “Dr. Love Radio Show” weeknights at 11 p.m. on DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 at DZMM TeleRadyo (SkyCable ch. 26).
