DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo Plane Crash in Masbate

Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jesse Robredo and several companions were confirmed those who have gone missing after their small Piper aircraft crashed in Masbate at around 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 18.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda and Transportation Secretary Mar Roxas, Secretary Robredo, his aide and a Filipino pilot Capt. Jesuc Mainting and a Nepalese co-pilot

came from Cebu and was bound to Naga City when the plane crashed in the sea off Masbate City.

As of this time, a US Fleet Survey team from Cavite, the Philippine Coast Guard vessels and local fishermen are doing a rigid search and rescue operation in the crash site located just 200 meters from the shoreline.
